First a shout out to the owners. For some reason Google maps wouldn't show me the true location of this address. It worked a couple of days later, I don't know what's going on.
Normally the son meets the client, gets them in the door and shows them around. I had to take a later train and got in after a time he was available. The owners were on travel.
I got on the phone with the owners and they were beyond amazing helping me get in. Thank you thank you thank you. I'd gone about 30 hours without sleep and they were so patient and persistent.
The location is amazing, the center of everything. I loved being in a 17th century building with modern amenities. It was a warm time of the year, but I found that by opening the front and back windows a wonderful flow of air would come in late in the evening and through the night. By morning it was 23° inside and I slept comfortably the whole night. The bathroom is tiny but the shower is large, which to me is the perfect trade off. The kitchen met all of my needs, mainly a quick breakfast and some microwaved pouch meals when I was too tired to eat out. There is a kettle, a microwave, a cooktop, and I believe a convection oven (I think that's what it was I've never had one). They even have a washing machine and a rack to lay out your clothes to dry.
Turn left or right out the door and you will find bars, cafes, restaurants, and beautiful cathedrals. The main historical plazas are just a few minutes away. I sat and listened to a concert on Saturday. The main city market, open Saturdays, is remarkably close.
Super satisfied.
More like suggestions. I would like to recommend a couple of fans. A standing fan to cover the living area that could be moved to aim at the bed. And a table top fan in the kitchen. Also during heat waves it would have been nice to have had flat sheets, though I found a way to make the lovely quilted comforter work.
If you're able to post a walking map online, leading from the little plaza in front of the church to the apartment, I think that would be useful if anybody else has trouble with Google maps or the equivalent like I did.
A minor thing for me is that there is a bar a bit up the street that can be just a bit noisy until about 10 or 11. In the morning people ending their trip and leaving their hotels are rolling their luggage on cobblestone streets. I did the same thing and it makes some noise. This is part of being in the city center, most places you stay.
So, if you are super noise sensitive and it's summertime, well just be aware. After first noticing these activities, it became part of the charm of being central. And then it didn't bother me at all.
My only true minus has to do with my height, 6'5". There were low beams and short door frames. At the end of the day when I was tired, even knowing they were there, I would repeatedly hit my head. 🤕 Welcome to the 17th century. 😁

It's a pleasant old apartment in a historical building, in the very centre of Rennes. It is close to everything, and at the same time, it is quiet at night.
Nothing really. I would appreciate a higher pillow, but this is very personal.

Central location on a beautiful historic street in the old town not far from the cathedral. Friendly and welcoming host. Great storage area for bikes. Apartment was clean, secure, spacious, homely and comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped. It was lovely to stay in such an old building that was full of character.
All good but maybe a fan - but there was a heatwave at the time!
