The place was fine, but I didn't see any staff. My only request was to use the bathroom about 30 minutes before check-in, but it wasn't possible; they had absolutely no empathy.

The hotel was in a great location, right near the river close to the Palacio da Bolsa -- a main tourist attraction -- and the tourist tram end stop. The room was very large and had a coffee maker and refrigerator and comfortable bed, couch and desk. The bathroom was adequate and did have a hair dryer. There is NO staff -- but they send you an email with details about how to get into the main door and how to get the key to your room. It all worked well. Our view was of the river so it was really nice - and was not noisy (except when a group of motorcycles went by). Overall really a good value though i would not consider it luxurious.
One suggestion if you are staying here -- instead of telling the taxi, Uber or GPS the actual address, put in the coordinates for the Tram Restaurant R. Nova da Alfândega 1, 4050-253 Porto -- and then walk down the street on the backside of the restaurant. It is just 2 doors away from that. If you put in the actual hotel address, since it's a tiny one-way street- you will be going out of your way to get there.
I realize this is nothing they can change, but there is no elevator, so walking up several flights with suitcases can be a bit tough. Also, they need a light at the front door. We arrived after dark and had a hard time finding the hotel because the painted sign on the front window was not visible and the light over the door showing the number was not working. That also made it hard to see the keypad.

Huge rooms, great location, lovely building, quiet at night
We booked a room which on the pictures was completely different. This wouldn’t usually disappoint us but the bathroom we had was not nice and didn’t match how nice the rest of the property was. There was black grime in the tiles of the shower. It wasn’t pleasant to shower in.

The view and location were good.
The floor was too squeaky and the lack of utensils is ridiculous as there weren’t any. We paid for an apartment and these are the basic essentials excepted for a stay in a hotel let along an apartment. No spoons let along forks knifes or anything else. Two cups only. Bare bare minimum. Very disappointing.
