    Tranquility near Menjangan Island

    Views, friendly staff, pure Bali
The view, the rural area, it was not however it was very peaceful. It is a beautiful place with stunning views. The staff were kind and very helpful, even with limited English. They helped me arrange a massage and a snorkeling trip—both were amazing! I didn’t have a scooter, so I ate dinner at the property. It’s a bit higher priced than in the town but very tasty. I especially loved the fish curry.
The roosters in the morning are very loud. :) I had my earplugs and it helped. But I don’t recommend it to light sleepers.

    A hillside humble getaway :)
Amazing views .... breathtaking!!!! Tucked away in a little Balinese village... it is a few km from local restaurants and conveniences shops so having access to a bike is useful for exploring the area (which can be arranged by hotel staff on arrival). The wonderful, kind and helpful staff also able to arrange tours, prepare meals, transportation and facilitate any needs directly from the accomodation. I personally did the snorkle and diving trip and highly recommend both!
Honestly really loved the stay... if I had to pick one thing, the noise from the community travels up the hill, but the views truly made it worthwhile :)

Never again - all dirty, broken, not working, not have, not possible, not understand
The view is magnificent. But that's about it. The rest is unacceptable for the price they take. We have been travelling through Indonesia for over 25 years and have always stayed in smaller homestays. So we know well what we could expect and what not. And the price we paid for this (non-) performance is absolutely excessive. Unfortunately, we had booked a longer period in advance and could not cancel. Not recommended to do this. We are disappointed and we feel mislead. The pictures on booking.com give the impression of something that does not exist. When I look at the pictures of the breakfast, I expect to get a breakfast like that. But there is no juice, no fruit, no jam. There are omelettes/scrambled eggs of very poor quality or pancakes from the microwave. The guys ask in the evening what you want to have for breakfast and at what time. How am I supposed to know that in the evening? I don't know in the evening what I'll be hungry for in the morning, nor do I want to set an alarm clock on holiday. But you have to here. Because it's ready at the specified time. Regardless of whether you're there or not. If you arrive late, the omelette and coffee is cold and the toast is hard. And even if you are on time, the quality is more than poor. Every chair, every table, the whole floor is covered with bird droppings. There are only 3 tables, it's not that much work to keep them clean. You can order 2 of the 26 dishes on the menu. Beer, Coke and Sprite are available. (In a fridge that has apparently never been cleaned in its life) Drinking water was not available. No gallon for refill and not even bottles to buy. At a location where there is no supermarket around the corner. There is a blender, but it's broken. There is no toaster at all. They do the toast with oil in a pan. When we arrived, the kitchen looked like a bomb had exploded. They tidied up but didn't clean. Every glass is dirty, greasy and sticky. Disgusting.
The restaurant toilet is unbelievably filthy. Picture attached. The water in the pool was so green that you couldn't see the bottom and there was already plenty of algae on the walls. We had to tell them to switch on the pump, to leave the pump on, clean the walls, take the vacuum cleaner, fill up with water.... We couldn't use the pool for 4 days. The pool mattresses are just as full of bird droppings as everything else. They were not protected when it rained and were completely soaked. The Menjangan Hill is far away from town - so you will need a scooter. 150K Rupia for a scooter is a fantasy price. The suspicion arises that the remote location is being exploited. We were offered a price of 60K just a few kilometres away. Without bargaining. We rented 2 scooter from the Menjangen Hill (...for less than 150K ... suddenly it was possible...) On one of the scooters we were lent, we had to fill the tyres with air ourselves and the lights were very, very poor, nearly non-existent. On the second one, the rear brake didn't work. And THAT is really dangerous. The reason given by the owner for the price of 150K per day was that they need this price to cover operational costs? Which ones? The cost for garage, maintanance and service are probably not. The bungalows themselves are ok, but the same problem here too. Being clean is different. The mat in front of the bathroom was not changed once in the whole time. At some point there were no more towels because the dirty laundry was not given for washing - only when there was not a single towel left. The sink and tap are loose and should it not be noticeable when cleaning if the water doesn't drain? We removed the hair of countless guests before us ourselves. The facility itself could be nice, but it urgently needs maintenance. And someone on site who knows what to do and who feels responsible.

    A Fantastic Place to Stay
We had a fantastic stay at "Menjangan Hill". The cottages are situated right on the hill, with a lovely veiw, there is a very nice swimming pool, the room was clean and the bad - very comfortable. The manager was very helpful with arranging a boat tour for us, including snorkeling. Just a few minutes away by scooter there is a great family retaurnt called "Dapoer Chandra". Low prices and delitious food. Keep in mind that the last 100 meters to the resort you need to ride uphill. If you do not feel comfortable, you can always ask the guys at the reception to come and help.
