It was our first time visiting Black Mountain after visiting other places in the area for years. The Azalea house was the perfect home base to explore the town, hike nearby trails and walk around Lake Tomahawk. The house was just as described and we enjoyed coffee and tea on the front porch in the morning and the den fireplace in the evenings. We hope to return soon!

This house is amazing. Location is great. We really enjoyed the walks around the lake, the downtown of Black Mountain and Ashville and the restaurants. This area is very quiet and peaceful. Our hosts were exceptional. Would highly recommend staying here.

Even a rainy week couldn't spoil our time in this beautiful home. The front porch was so delightful and the perfect spot to enjoy a morning cup of coffee, a nap, quiet moments reading and listening to the rain. It was an ideal location for us while we attended the Worship & Music Conference at Montreat. Sheryl was the perfect host! She was so kind and thoughtful to leave us a welcome basket with treats and a lovely note. We look forward to returning again to this lovely home.

Everything was as advertised. Large fenced yard for our pups was so nice to have and it was small dog escape-proof. Location with view from the front porch of Lake Tomahawk and mountains was exceptional. Very welcoming and walkable community. Communications with Sheryl, our host, were very easy. The welcome basket with wine and snacks was an unexpected treat.

Sheryl’s home is very thoughtfully arranged from the updated bathroom(s) and kitchen to the fenced in yard that our pup absolutely loved! Location could not be any better a short drive (5 minutes) into town loaded with good restaurants and shops. Lots of great hiking trails in the area and a quick 20 min to Asheville. We are so grateful to have stayed in Sheryl’s home she is an excellent host, we hope to be back again in the future!

This was our second time staying here. We absolutely love it! The location is unbeatable. The home is very clean, nicely decorated and very comfortable. Wonderful outdoor spaces in the front and back of the home to hang out, dine, drink coffee, listen to the birds, etc. Fantastic fenced yard for our dogs. The hosts are the best! We stayed in this lovely Black Mountain home for 3 months. The hosts could not have been nicer or more accommodating. The house was very well equipped and was very dog friendly. We welcomed a puppy to join our older dog, and the home was wonderful for the two dogs. We were able to work remotely, cook in the well-equipped kitchen, enjoy the fenced back yard with dogs and walk to Lake Tomahawk (across the street essentially) as well as to downtown Black Mountain. Sheryl was extremely nice and helpful. Overall, this was a most magnificent stay and we look forward to recommending this to others and to staying again in the future.

Owner very helpful and welcoming. A really comfortable dog friendly home with great space both indoor and outdoor. Gas fireplace has been a real bonus during our winter stay. This was a perfect house for us and the dogs. Quiet neighbourhood, yet close to everything. Very clean. The fenced yard with back deck and barbeque were great for eating outdoors. We will be back!

We stayed here for one week and enjoyed every day. We both work from home and we were able to work there with a very steady internet connection. Our pups totally enjoyed sitting on the front porch with us and watching the squirrels, chipmunks, birds and even a small gaggle of ducks. The bed was comfortable and the house was clean. Everything was very well appointed and provided, lots of paper products, plenty of kitchenware and quality bath linens. The only thing we wanted for was more outlets in the downstairs room, but again, we needed them for working. The house is totally within walking distance to downtown BMT and you can see Lake Tomahawk from the front porch. We would absolutely stay here again!

We spent a month in Black Mountain and this home exceeded every one of our high expectations. The owner Sheryl genuinely wants your stay to be perfect, and she went out of her way to make sure it was. The house is like an HGTV dream home, with tasteful and charming touches throughout. There are really four living areas, counting the living room, den, front porch, and back deck. My husband and I enjoyed having some separate space, each with a large TV. The kitchen is spacious and we cooked a number of great meals. The beds are super comfortable, and the main bathroom has a wonderful rain head shower. We took our two dogs and they loved the stay. The back yard is large and fenced, and Lake Tomahawk, right at the end of the street, has a half-mile walking path around it. Our dogs were fascinated by the ducks and geese there! Montreat is about ten minutes away, and has many hiking trails of various difficulties. Our dogs loved going there. If you are into yoga, there is a fantastic yoga studio within walking distance of the house. I went every day and made good friends there. Of course, the town of Black Mountain is also in walking distance, and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring all the cafes and shops. The town is also very dog-friendly, and our pups were welcome at every place that has outdoor seating, which is almost everywhere. Sheryl was always available to answer questions and make recommendations, which was very helpful. We played golf several times at the local Donald Ross designed course, which is less than five minutes from the house. We also played at the Asheville Golf Course, which is another Donald Ross course. In short, we had a fabulous time and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. We plan to make this trip an annual affair, and can't wait to return to this home away from home.

The Azalea house was absolutely perfect for our needs and a weekend get away. The house is nestled in a charming neighborhood and Black Mountain is a cute little town. The close proximity to the highway made it a convenient location to get to and from Asheville and The Biltmore. The neighbors were very friendly also. The bed was comfortable and everything was very clean. Considering this is a pet friendly property I couldn't tell dogs had been there at all...smelled very fresh and clean. We will definitely return in the near future!

The property was as described and more. I went to Black Mountain for a quiet get-away and found it here. The house is within walking distance of town and a short drive to the local ciderworks. The neighbor was welcoming and safe, I had no issues staying alone in the house. Everything inside was clean and well-thought out, I felt right at home.

We loved our stay at Azalea Lake House this past weekend. The house is BEAUTIFUL. Recently updated and painted. It was the perfect size for the 3 couples we had staying. The den has a door, which makes it just as cozy as the bedrooms. We loved being able to walk around the lake in the morning before heading off to hike Chimney Rock or explore Asheville. The front porch was by far our favorite part. It was perfect for mornings drinking coffee and nights hanging out. Thanks for sharing your home with us!

The Azalea Lake House is a relaxing retreat and a comfortable base for exploring small town life, nearby hiking trails, regional crafts (including great craft breweries), and many styles of live musical performances. As a retreat for a couple or small family, the house is remarkably well designed for rest and relaxation indoors or outside on either of the two decks, for cooking in its efficiently arranged and admirably equipped kitchen or (for cookout fans) on the back deck, and for television viewing on either or both of two flat screens with Direct TV. This comfortable base enabled us to develop a daily routine that included morning and evening walks around Lake Tomahawk just a few steps from the house, delicious organic coffee at the Dynamite Roasting Company on Route 70 nearby, and a swim or workout at the Cheshire Fitness Club where it is easy to get a short-term guest membership. That gave us energy to explore the area's extraordinary natural beauty and active calendar of social and cultural events. But the fact is that we would have enjoyed the house and immediate neighborhood even if they were not located in such a charming part of the country. The kitchen equipment happily includes knives that are sharp along with good cookware, and it is actually ready for any dedicated cook. The hosts have been very generous with provisions and supplies, making guests feel welcome immediately and making it possible to enjoy the house from the time of arrival and throughout a stay that inevitably will feel too brief. Among the dozens of home stays around the nation that we have experienced over several years, we vote this one the very best--and our Shih Tzu shares our enthusiasm. She delighted in neighborhood walks, appreciated the safety of the fenced back yard, and liked to lounge on the front deck as much as we did. Our deep thanks to the thoughtful owners and friendly local manager for this very positive and memorable experience.

My wife and I were in town after Easter to visit our sons, both of whom live in Black Mountain. This property was a great place to entertain family and enjoy the warming temperatures out on the front deck/porch. We also enjoyed the interior living spaces as well - especially the gas logs on chilly mornings. The kitchen was perfect for putting together a birthday meal and celebration for one of our sons. The open concept and bar seating made it really easy to visit and cook at the same time. Walking distance to the lake and town makes this a great location. Though the neighborhood was pretty well populated and it was spring break, the noise level was very low. Neighbors and those walking the streets were very friendly. We were grateful for the amenities and the owner/manager was very helpful . I would recommend this.

We usually stay in a hotel in Asheville, but decided to stay in Black Mountain to be nearer to my husband's father. It was the best decision by far! We found the lake house to be clean and very comfortable for our family of 3. We found the location to be very quiet and the neighbors very friendly! We ate breakfast on the fabulous front porch, with a view of the lake, and ended each evening on the porch, visiting with our family that lives in nearby Ridgecrest and Asheville. It's a short walk to get to the lake; we even enjoyed an evening of live music there! We spent one day in downtown Black Mountain, exploring the various shops--all within a very short drive from the house. We also did some tubing on the French Broad River and enjoyed driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway--all within an easy drive from the house. We look forward to staying here again and would definitely recommend this house to our friends!

The place is even better than the pictures. It was so clean and comfortable for us. I actually stayed the first night by myself and felt very safe in the house and neighborhood. It is so quiet and restful but very convenient to everything in Black Mountain and I was less than 3 miles from our reunion was being held. The place does allow pets but I did not bring mine. Other than the food and water bowl, you would never know that pets have stayed there. I would stay here again and would recommend to anyone else.
