About this house rental

This is a quaint and newly renovated 1930’s stone cottage. It sits in the blue ridge mountains, in the heart of Black Mountain, NC. It is located in a quiet neighborhood so you can relax, but also just a short stroll to several wonderful restaurants, pubs, and shopping. Nearby is a lake, hiking trails, the blue ridge parkway, playgrounds and a beautiful golf course. Black Mountain is charming and has so much to offer. Asheville is just a 10 minute drive. The home has a beautiful front porch, as well as a large fenced in back yard, for grilling, a bonfire, game of corn hole, or relaxing in the hammock. There is a large covered area so you can enjoy even if it rains. The master bedroom has a queen size bed, the second bedroom has a queen size bed, the living room has a sleeper sofa, there is a cot upon request. The home is equipped with flat screen T.V.'s in both bedrooms and living room, cable, internet, a DVD player in bedroom, and DVR in Living room. The home also has books, games, puzzles, corn hole, dartboard, hammock and sandbox. Stowed away we have a pack n play, stroller and high chair for the little ones. We hope you enjoy the exciting and peaceful living of the Appalachian Mountains while at slow pace cottage!

We had a great time!!! VERY clean and met all of our expectations. Loved the front porch and back yard. We will definitely be back next year. Hope to visit in early summer and fall. Belinda is a great host and communication was excellent. She has put a lot of thought into making sure We had everything we needed. Thanks and look forward to our next visit.

It's a very nice cottage like home. We had trouble with the wifi but I think that is more to do with us being in our 80's than anything else. Kitchen was clean and pots and pans were there for us to make our own meals.The backyard was excellent for our dogs, and the bed was big enough for all of us. We didn't use the second bedroom --- perhaps next time.

Excellent proximity to town and it was excellent for our needs. Water temperature in shower was a bit tricky to regulate but understandable due to the age of the property. Washer and dryer worked great!

Cottage is in a fabulous location within walking distance to Black Mountain town. The location allowed easy access to the activities we wanted to do in and around the Black Mountain area. It had all the amenities we needed. I was working remotely and the owner even provided me with a desk! The owner was really responsive and flexible. Unfortunately, we had to leave early due to a work issue and family emergency and the owner was very accommodating. I would definitely stay again.

What stands out about this property is that Belinda has really made an effort to prepare for any visitor. Charging stations, umbrellas, walking sticks, bug spray, extra linens everywhere, books, games, both pod and ground coffee, night lights, notes attached to things. It's really unlikely you'll show up to this property and wish you had brought that thing you always forget when you travel. By far the most ready-to-live-here place I've ever stayed. If you're planning to book this place, be aware that it's a small house with old pipes and no bathtub. Getting the shower temp correct is tricky. This wasn't a big deal to us, but I don't want you to be surprised. Location is great. We walked into town every day. Lovely front porch and large covered area in the back yard for relaxing. We didn't bring a pet, but one would have a great time here. Belinda responds quickly to messages. Just an all-around great place to stay if you're looking for something simple. We'll be back.

We loved our stay at Slow Pace in Black Mountain NC. The location is great, close to town and hiking trials. The house was perfect for us and our dog. The yard is fenced and our husky loved running around in it. In addition to the 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom cottage there is a very large outdoor covered space. We spent many hours there, reading, drinking tea, grilling and eating dinner. We also appreciated the many thoughtful extras inside the house such as the nightlights and the well equipped kitchen. Belinda was quick to respond to any questions or concerns by text. We would definitely stay there again!

This property was perfect for me, my 2 sons, & my 8 year old grandson! The location was ideal, furnishings were cozy & warm, a well stocked kitchen IF I wanted to cook, the huge fenced backyard (for my standard poodle to run & play), a fire pit, large covered patio with a grill & ample seating, homey front porch for neighborhood watching, comfortable beds, plenty of linens on hand, AND the home was all decorated for the Christmas holidays. I only regret that we weren’t able to stay longer due to obligations that allowed just a 2 night stay. I highly recommend this home in Black Mountain.

My husband and I wanted to explore the area for possible future retirement. The home is close to the highway and downtown Asheville. Very cozy and comfortable and fully equipped kitchen for preparing meals. Love the fenced-in back yard for the dogs as well as the patio and fire pit. Cute little 1930s bungalow. Bed was comfortable. Linens and towels were good quality. The house is situated at the fork of 2 busy roads which made sitting outside noisy. Inside with the doors closed very little noise. Traffic died down around 9pm. Close walk to town. The country store next door is very convenient. We had no communication with the property manager so I can’t rate that.

Slow pace cottage Belinda’s place was perfect for my husband and I, our 13 month old and our two large dogs. It was so comfy and cozy and was even nicer in person. Belinda’s hospitality was unmatched and she has the house stocked with everything we could have needed including toys, books, puzzles and a high chair. We loved the large fenced backyard and covered outdoor area with fire pit. We enjoyed a fire nightly rain or shine. The store next door was very convenient and we were able to grab some local craft beers to enjoy by the fire. We loved being able to walk to delicious restaurants, breweries, shops and a park with a splash pad. Catabwa Falls was also a short drive away and was beautiful. We love this cottage and Black Mountain and can’t wait to come back! Did we forget to mention that we love Belinda?!

We were so happy with this property! The decor was super cute and clean. The owners went above and beyond leaving a full bowl of water for our pup and a bottle of wine for us! It also had other necessities like shampoo+conditioner. The store next door also came in handy. We (especially our dog) enjoyed the large fenced yard with beautiful big old trees and a covered seating area with a fire pit and lovely lighting! Loved it!

The property is well maintained and as pictured (actually better) with good amenities and décor. We liked that all one level, fenced yard, and the convenience store next door came in handy. We encountered some beginning of the season plumbing issues, the owners were super fast to get help there and it was all fixed by the time we got back for the day. Should not be an issue until the future, just saying that if there is something wrong the owners are really responsive. The back yard is HUGE and we LOVED being able to have a bonfire even when it rained. Close enough to town that you could walk, very much in a busy neighborhood next door to a very nice little convenience store. We enjoyed our stay!

We love coming to Black Mountain and Montreat . This is our fourth time staying at Slow Pace. It is the best! This sweet cottage is in a very convenient location, has a large fenced yard for our dogs to enjoy, and has all the creature comforts we need to really relax. There are plenty of towels and blankets, the kitchen is well appointed, and the outdoor gathering space is perfect for evening campfires, games, etc. Belinda, the owner, is always very quick to respond and super thoughtful, too. Slow Pace is the pefect space in a wonderful place!
