Gorgeous location & views.
Nice back garden
Cottage damp & smelled musty. When we arrived some areas not been hoovered & dusty. Apparently owners have new caretakers & wished to know how things were. We didn't want to be rude but mentioned the damp & there was dog hairs, crumbs dust and a lighter under cushions of sofa. We didn't really get anywhere except for them saying the damp, mould etc. was due to the cottage position on a hillside. We also said there was an ill fitting bathroom window & door of conservatory where midges were getting in & there was a deep layer of them in the bath, toilet, windowsills. We expected them outside but not in, all of us had a lot of bites.
It was definitely not worth the money , if they want to charge high prices then we would have expected better.
Also we have been back over 2 weeks & no sign of damage deposit which is usually 7 days on return home. I've been on to booking.com who said they have contacted the owners but still nothing back, which is just wrong especially when you save up to take your family on holiday & pay quite a high price it was really disappointing all round.

The location of the cottage suited us. The views were lovely. Everything there that you needed. It was all clean and tidy.
Nothing really. The bottom oven wasn't working, informed the owner.

Lovely location and great views from backgarden and conservatory. Good walks to the mountains in all directions. Was very lucky with the weather - didnt use my waterproof jacket for the entire 2 weeks i stayed in September :-)
...and just to update on comments i saw on previous reviews : water system is now fully filtered and drinkable.
Parking behind cottage is down very steep drive - if your car is on standard suspension you should be fine but my Honda Civic Type R grounded out so parked on the space opposite the cottage by the road which was fine (if this is ever full theres another layby 30 seconds walk up the road you can use)

The cottage is very comfortable and easy to keep warm even with the cold nights we had in October when we were there.
The view from the back of the cottage is to die for its stunning tranquil and I could sit there all day just looking out the window.
The kitchen has everything you could need and more.
The beds were comfortable and the property was generally clean and tidy which is really all you need during your stay but there are plenty of creature comforts to please most people. (Loved the addition of the coffee maker)
The agency/owners were very Covid aware and had left clear instructions on how to help us and them stay safe while at the property.
The location is perfect for a proper get away and if your looking to stay near to the national parks.
Driveway is very steep with a sharp lip so if your car is low to the ground or low powered you may have to find a way round that. Best way we found was take a little run up and hit the lip at an angle one wheel at a time. you have been warned.
There was still evidence of the last guests when we arrived, some bins still had litter in and there was little food bits in the corners of the kitchen (nothing major though).
Some linens and bedding was still damp from having probably just been washed that day, had to dry it a second time when we arrived.
The double bed is not a full sized double, its a large single/ 3/4 sized bed. For any couples sized tall or wide it is impossible to sleep in it together. We made do with the two single beds next door which was more than fine but this might bother some people.
Property has some general wear and tear, the bathroom upstairs being the main point as the lino is damaged and so is the bath.
We stayed briefly in the beginning of the year and the property was well decorated with little things here and there which really added to the charm of the place. We were sad to see the property had been stripped of all of these things which did make it feel cold and empty compared to the last time we stayed. We are putting this down to Covid and not having too many communal items about so we understand, just a shame really.

Absolutely stunning views. We made use of the barbeque and sat back to enjoy. A pretty river flows at the bottom of the garden, the water level was low so the children river walked. Found a great walk up an old tree logging path (30 second drive, turn right out of the property and right again after the single file bridge) which took us high into the hills. stick to the path as i noticed my springer spaniel picked up ticks, i wouldnt like them on us! at the top there was a running spring where i re filled my water bottle. just epic scenery. if you want to go to a loch then travel 20mins to Loch Eck on the east side, towards the top, you will find little beach like coves. Stunning. only stayed 3 nights so will be returning to explore some more.....
