About this apartment rental

The apartment is located in the Santuary town of San Bernardino. It is part of the community of Vernazza and is a 10 minute drive to Vernazza. It is just above Vernazza and Corniglia, with views of Corniglia and Manarola. This quite village has trails leading to all the Cinque Terre villages.
The apartment is a one bedroom with a new kitchen installed in 2024 and bathroom. There is a balcony with sea views and a private terrace . This apartment is perfect for two people. I am only a few steps from the main parking and bus stop.
To arrive , take the road to Vernazza/Corniglia and at the fork turn left to Corniglia (not Vernazza) and you are there. There is free parking or a shuttle to take you to Vernazza. Last shuttle is at 19:00 from Vernazza from June. Check-in is in from 2pm-7pm. Cinque Terre now has the Sojourn tax (city tax) at €1,00 a day per person for the first 3 days.

The views and hikes of Cinque Terre are amazing. However, I would avoid staying in San Bernardino for future travelers. There is limited public transportation to the town especially after 7pm. We were stuck having to either wait for a 10:45pm bus or having to hike up the hill in the pitch black. Also, the communication of the host while we were staying at their property was subpar. Would recommend looking into other areas to stay at while visiting Cinque Terre.

Breath-taking View from the windows of the room. Clean room and stocked with most everything. Comfortable bed. WiFi did not work. Parking is limited if arriving late evening by car. Bus stops 50 Meters from the room door.

We loved Julia & Paolo’s place, it is very charming. Apart from the extraordinarily beautiful view, the place offered a very relaxed way to experience the Cinque Terre. There were so many thoughtful things that made the stay more pleasant, like the washing machine, the fact she has some basic food in case you arrive late and want to cook for yourself, the coffee machine etc. It was also lovely to visit their restaurant in Vernazza and see a concert with Julia singing with her band! Parking is a very short walk away too. We enjoyed the liveliness of Vernazza and the relaxedness of Corniglia. Highly recommend!

A beautiful and quiet place to stay with stunning views right from the windows. The shuttle bus took us into vernazza each morning and brought us back early each evening (taxi available after approx 7 pm if you miss the last shuttle). Julia was very responsive to communications. We had a lovely few days exploring the area. A perfect place to come back to for a restful retreat!!

We really enjoyed our stay here. Getting to the rental is not for the faint of heart. It's going to take a hike or a drive - none of which are impossible, but do take a bit of planning. But once you're there, everything is fantastic. You get a nice breeze through the windows and the view is out of this world!

A view that pictures or words can’t describe. Beautiful and peaceful. Went here for our anniversary and the owners were extremely kind and welcoming. They offered us a glass of wine at their restaurant where the food is delicious, and even gave us a ride up to the home after our dinner. Be aware that the property is away from Vernazza by about two miles, so you will need to take supplies up when you arrive. You must follow the bus schedule as the last bus leaves from Vernazza to the home at 7:10, or you will have to pay for a taxi that cost about €25. Great stay, great location, great hosts. Would do it again

Julia and Paolo are exceptional hosts. The property is clean and has wonderful views. Julia has thought of everything her guests may need for a pleasant stay. The property is high in the hills of San Bernadino, so accessibility is not easy but doable. Lovely property!

The apartment is fresh renovated with a new kitchen. The area is really nice and peaceful, we loved our stay there. We had some problems with the wifi but the owner fixed the problem really fast :) All was clean and we had a good communication with the owner. We would come again!

The view from the kitchen window and balcony is beautiful! Really make sure you do your research before staying here. If you don’t have a car, plan on either getting back early (sometimes shuttle stops at 16:45), or hiking an hour in the dark up a mountain. We arrived after the last shuttle left, the host was gracious enough to drive us up after dinner.

This is a precious spot with an unrivaled view. The hosts are so thoughtful. It's an easy bus ride back and forth to Vernazza. Or you can walk down to Corniglia or Vernazza by road or trail. I loved the quiet beauty and the gracious hospitality. Thanks Paolo and Julia!

I have never spent so much time looking out a window. Day and night, the most beautiful view in the world. Julia and Paulo were great and their menu at the restaurant was delicious. Quiet, relaxing and only a moment away from the massive crowds and gelato. Two month vacation and I'm going to bet this is the highlight. Thank you for such a wonderful stay.

Nice place, but a bit remote. One needs to plan carefully coming and going, but it gives a respite from the hundreds of tourist looking to take the same pictures they’ve seen on social media!

This is a lovely apartment in a beautiful setting. Unfortunately, I used the oven to warm a piece of focaccia and the power went out. I was without power or any communication from the owner for 24 hours despite multiple attempts to contact Julie and her husband. She refunded one day of rent but as I told her, “ I spent a lot of money to come here and I lost a full day of my vacation.” Three cold showers and the washer didn’t work properly. Beautiful place but not a good experience.

We loved staying at Snow Whites Sea View! The view can’t be beat, and waking up each morning to that beautiful view will always be remembered. The view is achieved by being high up out of the main town and visitors should know that you are a bit tied down by the bus schedule. However, taxis can be hired and the walk (down!) is very nice. Once we became adjusted to this it was all fine. I would stay here again absolutely. The cottage is super quiet and comfortable too. We loved it!

We enjoyed our time here, gorgeous scenery, close to Cinque Terra. Could have had better instruction regarding WiFi (none), using oven (can't), bar closed. No supplies in San Bernardo at all, so be prepared to bring what you want up. But the view and ocean breeze was second to none!!!!

WOW, what a view. We enjoyed our stay the room was very clean and so easy to find. Julia gave great directions and lots of information on how to find the place. When we got to our room we only had one bath towel so we reached out to Julia and she was quick to bring us more towels. THANKYOU. The only negative was the last bus left at 1900 hours you would probably want a car if your staying during low season but driving these roads would be VERY challenging. We just planned our day accordingly. There is a bar in the village that is very cozy and the owner is so nice. We purchase a pizza from Vernazza and carried it into the bar and she had no problem with that. Overall we would stay here again. Thank you Julia for a beautiful place. Angela & Kenton

The view from the apartment was amazing and the private garden was absolutely wonderful! It takes a bit of effort to get up to the apartment from the town, but well worth it. The view cannot be matched both at sunrise and sunset. Just be sure to catch the bus when possible, because the taxi up the hill is expensive. The apartment was clean and we were grateful to have a washing machine for laundry. The host was quick to respond with any questions and very friendly. I definitely recommend staying here.

When we were planning our trip I was not convinced I wanted to go to Cinque Terre (my wife was though). But after walking into Paolo and Julia’s place and getting my first glance at the coast from our dining table I lost all apprehension. The view is stunning (to say the least) and the apartment is comfortable and clean. We also had lunch and dinner at their restaurant in Vernazza - fabulous food!!! This will be a stay we will always remember- thank you Julia and Paolo!

The apartment is located on a steep hill. Be prepared to drive to the towns of the CT and park early in the morning. The apartment has absolutely stunning views and was comfortable enough. The locals and hosts are very welcoming. In order to get wifi, one must walk to the local bar-not a big deal for us but that wasn't clear.

I spent three days here with my girlfriend for a week and couldn't have hoped for anything better. The view from the apartment is beautiful! The place was clean and tidy, and we were allowed to pick what we could from the garden. We hiked between the 5 villages on the coast, and the views were tremendous. Paolo was very helpful, and although our schedules did not mesh to meet Julia, she was very helpful and accommodating over the phone and through VRBO. Highly highly recommend this place!

Stayed with my girlfriend for a week and couldn't be happier. Pictures cannot do the view from the apartment justice, it is simply breathtaking. Clean and simple apartment overlooking Corniglia and Manarola. The people of San Bernadino were a highlight for us and we had a cappuccino every morning with them. Buying a map of the trails worked well as we hiked for days using trails between towns and in the mountains not frequented by the tourists. The views from the higher up trails steal the show. Paolo was very helpful (unfortunately never had the chance to meet Julia) and was always available at his restaurant to provide helpful tips, advice and a delicious meal. We are already discussing when we can return again.

A Most Beautiful Place

It was so peaceful and the views from the apartment are so beautiful I almost didn't want to leave the building! But there is so much to see & do in the area and this was a prime central location. Free parking was available and then one could hike or take the bus down to Vernazza and then take the train or a boat or hike more. The residents of San Bernardino were delightful and welcoming. I would return in a heartbeat and stay....forever! Paolo and Julia were very helpful.

My husand & I were looking for a quiet place to relax away from the loud crowded cities at the end of our trip to Italy and we found it! The apartment is comfortable and had everything we needed. We spent hours enjoying the views and the sound of the waves! Julia and Paolo are very nice and helpful. They have a wonderful restaurant in Vernazza! The local wine is great too! If you are traveling by train from anyplace south of Vernazza I highly recommend that you take an early train. Cruise ships dock in LaSpezia, their passengers take the train to Vernazza for a day of hiking...the trains are very crowded. There is a shuttle that runs from Vernazza up the mountain about every 3 hours. We enjoyed our stay at the apartment and were sad to leave.

Wirklich schöne, kleine und funktionale Wohnung in San Bernadino über Corniglia. Alles vorhanden was man in ein paar Tagen benötigt. Süßer Balkon mit Blick aufs Meer, traumhaftes Panorama aus den Fenstern - ich konnte gar nicht aufhören von dort rauszuschauen! Selbst zu dritt ausreichend Platz! Ganz einfacher Check In, sehr gute Kommunikation mit Julia, die jederzeit erreichbar war. Als Tipp - unbedingt Lebensmittel o.ä. bei der Anreise mitbringen, wird sonst schwierig! Kleine Einkaufsmöglichkeiten in Corniglia und Vernazza, aber das muss ja entweder zu Fuß oder per Shuttlebus von Vernazza nach Hause gebracht werden. Bergab sind wir immer gelaufen, das geht sehr gut, einmal auch von Corniglia wieder hoch - das ist schon ziemlich anstrengend. Parkplätze gibt es direkt mit Parkerlaubnis von Julia an der Kirche. Einziges Manko - die beschriebene Bar in San Bernadino hatte die ganze Zeit zu. Einerseits waren wir sehr froh dem touristischen Trubel zu entfliehen, hatten aber gehofft, abends noch ein wenig in der Bar verweilen zu können, da es in San Bernadino sonst nichts gibt. Ansonsten ein wunderschöner Aufenthalt!

Lovely and quiet Location aloof from beautiful but touristic Cinque Terre towns. We really enjoyed being there and having such a great view over the wide ocean and hills of Cinque Terre. Good acessibility to wonderful walks in the National Park if you come by car. The owners Julia and Paolo are very caring and friendly people and made our stay the best possible way.

Lovely stay in San Bernardino

We are an uncomplicated family of three and we spent a fantastic week in San Bernardino. The apartment is cute, was very clean, and had everything we needed. We loved taking the shuttle bus and being able to rely on public transportation when visiting Cinque Terre.. it's not a convenient place for the car. It meant being home no later than 7 PM, but that suited us fine. Julia was a wonderful host - though we didn't meet personally, she was in touch regularly and was very responsive. We experienced a few small issues at first (parking, and a leaky boiler), but Julia addressed everything so promptly that it's really not worth mentioning. Unfortunately we never managed to eat at the family restaurant. Next time! Other tidbits: - We didn't really sit outside in the evening, because of mosquitos. - The bed is very comfy, and the fan really sufficed at night (in August) - S. Bernardino is a nice departure point for hikes too. Walking to Vernazza or Corniglia is very easy, but going up the mountain to less popular trails is also a nice option. - Make sure to get instructions on parking from Julia. It seems like parking fines are handed out readily. The parking lot was sometimes full when we were there.. - we arrived with lots of groceries, which was good, since there's nothing in S. Bernardino and the stores in Cinque Terre itself are a bit limited.

Die Wohnung ist wunderschön gelegen, wenn auch sehr abgelegenen. Das kann aber auch ein Vorteil sein. Busse von Vernazza fahren selten und unregelmäßig Mann sollte zumindest zur Anreise schon ein Auto haben. Während des Aufenthalts lassen sich 3 Orte der Cinque terre gut durch eine Stunde( bzw 2 für Manarola) auf den wunderschönen Wanderwegen erreichen. Von dort kann man Züge in die übrigen
