Great place! Just be advised it’s not actually a king sized bed. My husband is 6’8” and a king sized bed is our highest priority. So we picked this place because they advertised a king bed and we contacted the host to make sure and were so excited to find it. However, it's only 6' long as opposed to 6'8" like a typical king. My husband was able to find a cot at Walmart and we made it work. Otherwise the place was very Lakeside lovely! Also note there's no washer and dryer, I assumed there was!

This cottage would be perfect for a family (parents and 2-3 kids). It has a lot of positives (kitchen amenities, efficient air conditioning, comfortable furniture). The upstairs bathroom is in between the two bedrooms with pocket doors. Parents would be able to hear their children if they got up in the middle of the night. The shower in the upstairs was very tiny (smaller than a cruise ship shower) with a low shower head so we were glad for the large downstairs tub/shower combination. The television had a clear picture but only streaming services (no local channels). The owner immediately answered when I sent him a couple questions. If you rent a golf cart be sure to ask for the longest extension cord they have as the outside plug is near the picnic table (not near the driveway). Lakeside is a special place and we had a great time.

First noticed water damaged ceiling tiles and was concerned about mold, but didn't seem to bother our allergies. Overall the house met our needs with tbe two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Air conditioning was wonderful and very quiet, a great upgrade! Enjoyed everything Lakeside had to offer, which is something for everyone.

This delightful cottage has been our number one choice for several years. It is cozy and clean, beds are comfortable, and the location close to the Rhein Center and new swimming pool. The three twin beds, king bed and two bathrooms were perfect for accommodating adults and children. The host is gracious and Vrbo is a great way to find the perfect cottage.

We had a wonderful stay. The house was very comfortable for our family of 5, the good air conditioning was much appreciated, and we especially enjoyed eating at the patio table on the deck! The wooded setting was lovely. The only downside was that it’s a bit off the beaten path, which fine for the adults, but it was hard for the kids (especially the 5-year-old) to get up the hill to the house on their bikes from the lakefront. On the flip side, it was very close to the pool! We would rent this home again.

We've been coming to Lakeside for ten years and really enjoyed our stay at this cottage. It was clean and had plenty of space for our family of five. The cottage has a large deck and is on a wooded lot with no grass, with a large stone driveway and easy walking distance to the pool. We had our bikes to get around as well (highly recommended). The first floor is spacious and has a well-stocked and efficient kitchen. There were a few puzzles and games and a clean carpeted floor. The first-floor bathroom has a bath/shower, so for little kids, that’s crucial. It was efficient but could use an update. The second floor master bedroom has nice woodwork and is spacious, and the second smaller bedroom has three twin (single) beds that worked great for us. There are high-end AC units in each that work more than well enough, as well one downstairs. The second-floor bathroom has a shower and was in good shape. There is a park right down the street and the pool is awesome. We rode our bikes to the lakefront daily (very easy ride) and the gated community aspect makes it a safe and low traffic place with plenty of benefits.

The cottage was very nice.Everything was nice,but we got hit with a extra fee for the week that we were not aware of When we got to gate.Just so you know they charge per person per day plus a car fee.Kind of steep besides the cost of rental.

When we booked, we didn't know anything about Lakeside. Admittedly, I was frustrated that the "gate fee" mentioned in the listing was substantially more than what I had imagined. However, our stay at this charming cottage was absolutely wonderful. People say you don't vacation with young kids, you travel, but this was truly a vacation. The available activities were perfect for us - we visited the pool and splash pad daily, enjoyed mini golf, and loved every playground. The cottage is well-stocked and homey. I did notice some dust on surfaces and under beds, but I didn't feel like it was dirty at all. We are already talking about coming back!

We have stayed at this property in Lakeside several times. We were pleasantly surprised by all the nice updates: new couch, new air conditioning, great deck furniture and lighting! So nice. We will definitely be back again!

The cottage was adorable and close to everything. What we weren't prepared for were the gate fees that required us to pay for parking at the place we rented. Also, as much as there was much to do, fees for mini-putt and a boat tour were extra. Both we were not prepared for which falls on us. We booked the property when additional fees were not in place. For others thinking about Lakeside as a vacation destination, be clear as to what is included with your gate fee and what is not. Even the publication that listed all events for the week did not list additional fees. We found out when we called to make a booking. This was our first experience vacationing at Lakeside. The pool was closed for 2 out of the 7 days we were there due to staffing issues and there was no swimming allowed in the beach area due to an algae problem and no life guard. None of these issues have anything to do with the property we rented. It met all of our needs and then some. The owner was responsive when asked questions and on top of a perspicuity garbage disposal. PS There are some clever racoons in the area that know how to unlock garbage cans!!!

I’m 50 and I have been staying in Lakeside cottages annually my entire life. This is among the best of them—clean and comfortable with plenty of amenities. The only thing it’s missing is a washer/dryer. Definitely worth the price.

If you have stayed at Lakeside before, here are some things that will help you select this cottage:The master bedroom is VERY spacious. If you are bringing a pack n play, it will EASILY fit in there. You could probably put 2 in there and still have plenty of space. The king bed is a split mattress, so you are less likely to disturb your partner. It was very comfortable. The children mostly fell asleep easily and stayed asleep, so my belief is that their beds were comfortable as well.The dressers in both bedrooms have drawers that slide in and out easily. There is a lot of drawer space.Plenty of hot water in the TWO showers. One bathroom on each floor. The counters adjacent the sinks are small, but there is plentiful shelf storage in both bathrooms. The kitchen has both a Keurig style coffee maker and a coffeemate (round filter) style. I only used the regular one, but it was easy to use.There is plentiful, matching dishes, glasses, and cookware of all kinds. You can probably cook anything you want in the lovely, modern stove, oven and microwave. The refrigerator is full-sized and works very well. There is an inside full sized dining table that easily seats 6, as well as an outside patio table that has an umbrella that also seats 6. It is very pleasant to sit outside and eat. Everything was super clean. There are two window air conditioners upstairs. If you leave in the AM and keep the curtains closed downstairs, it will be deliciously cool when you return from the lake at 4:30. I had my doubts, but they work really, really well. It's a hike to get downtown. The children and I enjoyed being able to walk along the lake and meet all the local dogs and to stop at a couple of playgrounds if there were other children playing. Any other year, the shuttle runs often to the pool, which is about a block away, at least during the day. If you don't want to walk and you don't want to wait for the shuttle, you can take the money you save on the cottage rental and put it towards a golf cart rental and still come out ahead. My IT husband felt the Wifi was not fully adequate for his extensive VPN and video requirements. However, I am a normal person, and it was fine for my regular and work usage. Unless you are trying to work remotely on multiple servers, you'll be fine. Recommended, but please don't reserve for the week we want it next year.
