Sleeps 10 with 4- bedrooms Home features large yard with fire pit, screened in porch, and large garden like patio. Appliances are new and furniture is excellent condition. All linens and cooking utilizes provided. This year home features air conditioning, dishwasher, and washer and dryer.

This home is next to historic train station, play ground, 6 tennis courts, 2 mile walking trail, and three blocks from Hoover Stadium. Blueberry Hill was perfect for our stay. We had family across the street so we really just needed it for sleeping. The house was clean and provided sheets and towels, which is a real plus at Lakeside! I’ve always had to bring linens. We did not use the pullout couch but I wouldn’t really call that a bedroom. It was perfect for the 5 of us to stay. It would have been tight if 4 more people were with us.

We had a great time in this cottage. The family who slept upstairs didn't mind that they had to go through one bedroom to get to the second one or that the 2nd bathroom was downstairs. The window air conditioners kept the house very cool. All the appliances were top quality. We appreciated having a washer and dryer, too. The golf cart being included in the rental fee was a huge plus, too.

Be aware that in the You need to know section of this VRBO listing "Extra person charges may apply and vary depending on property policy" and "Government issued id and credit/debit/cash deposit may be required at check in for incedental charges" means that this property is in a gated community that requires per person per a auto per a day fee during certain times of the year. No exception. We were completely blindsided. Our fees were well over a thousand for the week. The host did cover part of the fee when we pushed back that there was nothing in the listing indicating the fees. All of the free amenities are only free because of these fees. Also there are 2 actual bedrooms, a loft with a bed that you must pass thru to get to the upstairs bedroom, and a tiny room just big enough for a pullout couch off the kitchen with a sliding door and no ventillation. Both bathrooms are on the first floor. The sheets had stains and the towels were a hodge podge of worn quality. The hot water was iffy. There was still a gnat problem. Communication by the host was not very timely but did get responses eventually. The cottage itself could use a good makeover. It did provide a place to sleep and shower. The location itself is perfect if you are doing things in and around Marblehead. We did enjoy the use of the golf cart.

We had a great stay! The golf cart was key, since it was a bit farther than where we had stayed previously (and I'd recently had had knee surgery, there would have been no way of me walking or biking back & forth to the park & shops). The house was big enough for our needs, 4 *almost* bedrooms - one was a loft at the top of the stairs that the other upstairs bedroom sleepers had to walk through, but this is not an issue with kids. The living room was comfortable, the 3 window air conditioners indeed kept the house cool enough, and it was a hot week! 2 tables for eating/working were great. I think our biggest issue was the cleanliness of the kitchen and the gnats (we had read about the gnat problem in a recent review and took a plug in bug light/catcher, which was such a huge help).

In a quiet area on a cul de sac, so no traffic. Golf cart provided was an excellent bonus to travel to all the activities in Lakeside. Mattresses could use some updating but not bad. Had a gnat problem in the house, but owner working to solve this problem, was very apologetic, and even refunded some money towards spray we bought.

Location was great! It was across from two houses who are great friends. The only negative is that when our family arrived the house looked like it had not been cleaned. Toilets dirty, floors etc. We ended up cleaning it ourselves unfortunately.

I was looking forward to my trip & stay @ Lakeside, however upon entering I was informed of fees-fees that were never mentioned by VRBO or the owner. I was completely blindsided by these fees. I was told by Lakeside Association that the owner should have informed me of the fees, he did not. The fees included, entrance fee, daily resort fee, a daily car fee & a preservation fee-for 1 week 4 adults it was over $600 worth of fees that were never mentioned in any of the information. This information should have been mentioned by VRBO & by the owner. The fees had a significant impact on our vacation budget, limiting some of the plans we had made. Furthermore, the house itself is in major need of updating!! The bathrooms both need updated, better lighting. The furniture is old, uncomfortable & if you had more than 5 people-seating was/is an issue. The kitchen, also desperately needs better lighting. Finally, the little touches of soap at the sink, hand towels, additional paper goods: Kleenex, paper towels, toilet paper-were not available. For the money we paid this should have been included.

We had a family vacation and other family were staying in other cottages all around lakeside. The location of this cottage is great for getting to the pool or walking trails. The cottage was clean and had plenty of linens. The owner was great, he lives right next door so responds quickly. It was nice having golf cart too. Going back next year and staying in same cottage.

This place is ideal for an older couple who don’t like going upstairs to the bedrooms. The first floor has a master bedroom with a queen bed and two full baths. But if you have a larger family there is plenty of room with two bedrooms up. Very clean and located at the top of a dead end street, so little traffic, yet around the corner from the pool, tennis courts, pickle ball, etc. The owner John lives next door and is very responsive to requests. The use of a golf cart was a real plus. You will enjoy your stay here!

Pros: golf cart with property was amazing. location and community very friendly and charming, great state parks locally and close to ferry for Kelley’s island. Shops in town were great and those that stayed open after Labor Day had great sales. People were friendly, manager of the hotel in town gave us a tour even after it was closed. Cons: major issue with front porch, needs to be torn off or reconstructed. Main entrance cluttered and messy, toys paint cans and garden debris everywhere. Poor lighting in main living area. Older home with charm but could use some easy updates. Carpets stained upstairs, blinds dirty and broken, window ac units dirty and not in all the bedrooms. Yard around the house and back was nothing too grand. Clutter around and looked very messy. Owner responded to messages quick but did not deliver on requests. Oven door was missing and incredibly dangerous for a toddler and infant. We were not warned of this prior to visit. Beds were comfortable but bedding/ pillows were limited. Minimal essentials in the kitchen. Be aware ! Almost everything was closed or shut down after Labor Day. Including restaurants outside gated community. Overall it’s a quaint little house in a great location but for the price of renting it, and gate fees and cleaning fees, it could use a good remodel for safety and updates.

John was very accommodating with our, fortunate, earlier than expected arrival. He let us drop of our bags and use the golf cart to go down to the beach while the cleaner finished cleaning the house. He alsoy let us use peppers and tomatoes from the garden for our salads.

We love coming to visit the grounds inside Lakeside Chatauqua, and this was such a lovely spot! Quiet and nestled off the main portion of the grid, the golf cart was a huge bonus to get down to the events in the center of town without hiking. Easy access to the pool with day passes, and the scenery is so stunning! Thank you John!

The property was very nice. It would be a lovely place to stay with young kids. However, the listing was not at all transparent of the fact that Lakeside is a gated community with very expensive additional costs upon arrival. We were charged almost $600 more at the gate which we were not made aware of. The gate fees per person(9) and parking added up to that amount. Also that wasn’t even parking at the property. The listing was misleading regarding parking as well. Again, a lovely place to stay but if we had known the costs ahead of time, we would have planned differently.

One day the life guards blew the whistles for break and the adults all lined up for the slide😂it was great! We have learned to never expect perfection on vacation, just enjoy! It is a Lakeside Cottage, and anyone who goes to Lakeside should understand what that means. Older, with some character! The upstairs has 2 bedrooms, but you have to walk through the first to get to the second. (Not too unusual in Lakeside.) Both bathrooms are down stairs. (Not too unusual in Lakeside.) It was great to have the golf cart! Nice quiet spot! I would rent again!

This was our 3rd visit to lake side. We are use to toiletries, dishwasher soap, and trash bags to be there upon arrival but there were none. We had to take time out of our afternoon that day to run to the store for these necessities. The house seemed fine upon arrival but the temperature was going to get to the 90s and he next day so we went to turn on the air units in the windows and they were covered in mold. I asked the owner to remove them as we have a child with a weakened immune system and is allergic to mold. The owner was prompt to remove them but he took them apart in attempt to clean them but the entire inside was covered in black mold-in places you can not clean. The mold is still inside the units. I asked for a discount as we were having to suffer through 2 days of 90 degrees heat and we spent money on fans. But he said a straight no-and threat he was “making it right” by cleaning them. Which was indeed- not a help to us at all as we were not using them and in fact asked him to not install them until we left. He seemed understanding of our son and our situation but when you rent out your property for premium price and advertise that you have air-the air units need to be regularly maintained and in working order. These were not healthy. Even the filters were caked in layers of dust/mold-clearly no filters had been replaced any time soon. That was his responsibility as the owner to have the be done already for anyone. He did not go above and beyond to help us be comfortable. He should have gone and purchased another portable air unit or at least fans-but he did not. The house was also riddled with ants. Ants crawling everywhere. Up our bedrooms walls, all floors, kitchen, and even bath tubs. They were large black ants. And with having a crawling baby-living in this was not easy. Last but not least, we pay on cleaning but the floor was clearly not mopped-It was sticky upon arrival. I mopped since I have a crawling baby and the rag was dark brown immediately. The owner should hire a new cleaning crew as they are clearly cutting corners. I really enjoyed the spot on the hill, near the pool and the blue house is pretty to pull up to but those were the only good things about the stay.

The house is great, clean, quiet. We had to pay to get into the neighborhood, which was not expected at booking. For myself, my teen daughter, and my CAR + a processing fee for 4 days was $174.00! This is a separate fee that goes to the neighborhood as you drive in not the home owner. Yes they have a small beach, play ground, and a pool but we didnt have time to use any bc we came for work not play.

Highly upset that this property was originally listed on VRBO as being ON Put In Bay only to find that once we caught Miller Ferry to get over to the island we were informed that the address was on the mainland. We were unable to get back since that was the last ferry, we had to find different lodging accommodations & had to spend another $200.00. This was supposed to be a much needed getaway & my husbands birthday trip, but ended up being a disaster. We were supposed to be on the island for their last Halloween Bash but were not able to attend since we were apparently fooled by the initial listing. Upon booking I kept clicking on the island map to view rentals and this property kept coming up. So I booked it and needless to say, we were very disappointed when we got there & highly stressed out. I had NO intention of staying on the mainland & especially that far away even from the ferry dock. So we never did make it back to Put In Bay for the Halloween weekend because of the distance & left the day before the checkout date. Other than that SNAFU, the property was nice & I am sure the gated community would be a lovely place to stay during the summer months. But, be warned that VRBO listings can be be VERY MISLEADING & DECEPTIVE. This property was listed as being on Put In Bay. Next time I book any trip, I will just go back & use an travel agent, so it would be less stressful on my end. Now that I have gone back to view the listing, it has been changed to being 8 point some miles away from the ferry dock & I Never did receive a call from the host as requested in my messages on Friday night when we felt stranded. Again, I will just use a travel agent for any upcoming travels.

John is very welcoming and attentive to any concerns. Having the golf cart is a definite perk since you are at the top of the hill. As "mature folks", we quickly discovered we needed to be especially careful when using the stairs. It is great having 2 bathrooms, but both are downstairs. Gotta be careful when using the stairs to get to the bathroom during the night if you are sleeping upstairs! We found it to be very quiet and restful during our October stay.
