Beachfront in Belize with all the modern Convieniences

The owners Pam and Steve were very accommodating and helpful with our stay. It was great having the beach all to ourselves. The beach was raked every day to help with the sand fleas. They were very knowledgeable about where to eat and thee excursion we were interested in.

Steve and Pam are such welcoming hosts — the property was great and they were very informative and accommodating for us! The location is great, several great local restaurants close and easy access to downtown Placencia. Having immediate access to the beach, hammocks, and a little dock was perfect.

Pam and Steve are a delight. Every morning Steve rakes the beach to get it spotless and reminiscent of a Japanese garden. The hut itself is a combination of beach chic and comfy den. The garifuna village in which the hut is located offers grocery stores, a bakery, and a fabulous Jamaican restaurant.

We were a group of 14 adults and children who had been planning this for 2 years and our expectations were fully met. Steve and Pam were gracious hosts. The house and location were an oasis of peace, quiet, and beautiful beach. We enjoyed being away from the hustle and bustle of Placencia.

This property is flawless. The owners are wonderful and the sandy beach is perfect. Everything is close and convenient. Exceeded my expectations.

We loved Placencia, Belize. Seine Bight is a little North of Placencia and more of a village environment. We loved the roadside bakery there. The VRBO hosts, Pam and Steve, go above and beyond to assist their guests. Having them on the props was invaluable. They were there to assist if needed, gave us many mangoes, gave references for restaurants, and Pam even scheduled a sailboat excursion for us. Our visit was awesome!

What a trip. The Harry Hut was about piece of paradise for two weeks. Steve and Pam are amazing hosts and went well out of their way to make this n amazing stay. With their recommendations of of three Monkey River tour with Percy, to the in reef and deep sea fishing with Martin! Can’t wait for some more time on the beach and evenings on the pier. See you next year!!!

It was amazing to walk right out onto the beach and hear the waves all day and night long. The hut had everything we needed as far as supplies. LOVED the ample supply of towels. Steve and Pam thought of all the little amenities that are needed in a home and were great hosts - close by if you needed them but not intrusive at all. Unfortunately Mother Nature stepped in and the beaches and water were not crystal clear or blue, but the ocean was still wonderful and the pool is just a few steps away. The ocean is very shallow in front of the hut so it gave us a lot of playing area. We enjoyed our trips into Palencia, eating local cuisine, and our mountain hike to water falls (about an hour away). Steve and Pam are good resources for activities to do and people to do them with. We had 8 adults with 1 bathroom and never ran out of hot water. It's a unique vacation experience in the Hairy Hut, but one well worth it. Thanks, Steve and Pam for having us!!!

Steve and Pam made this one of the best vacations we have ever taken. The property was beautiful and well maintained. The hosts were very kind and helpful. Steve is a great cook! Pam gave us mangoes from their tree which were ripe. They get up early and comb the beach and set up the hammocks. We had no security concerns. We rented a car to get around because we wanted to explore more, placencia peninsula is a 7 minute drive from the house. Top reasons to return are the hosts, the house, the relaxing nature, and the beautiful country and people. We hope Steve and Pam will invite us back when we return. Please stay there if you have a chance. You will not regret it.

We loved the Jensens and the Hairy Hut. The pictures are accurate!!! We arrived and although we were earlier than expected the Jensens made sure we were taken care of, gave great suggestions for dinner spots and the house was ready exactly when they said it would be. It was the perfect place to wind down from all the busy-ness of the previous 5 days. Thank you for everything.

Clean and quiet - property owners close by to help with answering questions and making recommendations

This is the perfect vacation from a big city. Pam and Steve were wonderful, and the property was exactly as promised. Wake up to the sound of the waves a few steps from your door, feel the ocean breeze in your bed, have your coffee on the beach and then take a day trip to one of the cayes, the ruins or the forest.

Pam and Steve have built an awesome retreat for those wanting to get off the beaten path and enjoy the beauty of southern Belize. The "Hairy Hut" is spacious, clean and outfitted with all the modern amenities you'd expect in a vacation home. The house is tastefully decorated exactly how a rustic beachside hideaway should be, and the views from the house are second to none. Seine Bight is a small town about halfway between Maya Beach to the north and Placencia to the south. Vern's restaurant is a short walk from the house and serves some awesome Belizean food, don't miss the breakfast! There's a couple of convenience stores within walking distance as well as a few other restaurants. Placencia is where the local activity is - be it diving, fishing or quaffing a few brews with ex-pats and locals at the many fine eating and drinking establishments. It is a warm and friendly town with plenty of things to do! This is really a special place - from the breathtaking sunrise over the water every morning to the comfortable beds at night, I can't say I've ever stayed at such an appealing location in all my travels. We took our two 20-somethings down with us, and even for them it was early to rise and early to bed every day -- the TV stayed off the whole time which was quite a victory :-) You'll find your hosts one of the nicest couples we've met, which greatly adds to a wonderful vacation experience. Just wanted to thank Steve and Pam for all the help they gave us during our stay in Belize. We couldn't have asked for a more memorable experience than the Hairy Hut had given us. Couldn't get closer to the water if we wanted to, and the Ocean breeze with the constant lapping of the waves made for the best sleeping we have ever experienced. Steve and Pam helped us with everything from cutting open a coconut and introducing us to Ladderball, to helping us find the best restaurants and excursions. Thanks for your hospitality and all the help you had given us.

OMG the best! Right on the water, we watched the sunrise every morning. Great stay and the owners are super nice! This home has all you need for a quick getaway. The beach was all ours and the water was soooo warm, we spent lots of time in the water. Very hot so bring lots of bathing suits...It was just beautiful! Yolanda & Simon

My sisters and I really enjoyed our visit to Belize. Pam and Steve really made our stay easy , we opted not to rent a car, and they graciously drove us where ever we needed or wanted to go. The ocean is at your doorstep, watch the sun rise early in the cool of morning or the full moon on a star filled night, all from the living room couch. While we were there the wind blew much of the time keeping us cooler than we might have otherwise been. It was almost a constant 82 degrees, day and night. Cooling off in the pool next door was always a refreshing option. We did a combination of eating out and cooking for ourselves. A grocery store is close, Pam and Steve had bikes we could use and the Hut has a full kitchen making cooking at home easy. The town of Siene Bight has a variety of local cuisine small places to eat while travelling just ten or fifteen minutes in either direction offers more upscale choices in Maya Beach or the Placencia village. Booking Monkey River, Mayan Ruin tours or a snorkeling adventure was easy, accessible and proved to meet or exceed our expectations. We found the people of Belize to be friendly and diverse. We really enjoyed our stay at the Hairy Hut and would return in a heart beat!

I guess our visit was just at the wrong time of the year. The beach front was littered with tonnes of garbage on 4 out of the 7 mornings we were there. The mosquitoes the sand fleas and the ants were biting non stop. The house itself was located were we did not feel safe walking the streets. Just after our arrival, one of our party had the money from his wallet stolen through the wrought iron rods that were over the windows. Luckily his id and passport were left alone, but they also stole his sandals from outside the door of the house. Although the house was advertised as having internet, we arrived on Saturday, we didn't get the internet info until the Thursday. Just our bad luck, the fridge quit working on the Wednesday, so our food ( and now no ice for our drinks) was garbage for the last 2 1/2 days. A few of the nights were not very warm and an extra blanket would have been nice. There were non to be had. There were no dish towels to wash or dry the dishes, so I ended up purchasing. The shower was masterfully crafted and a real work of art, however the water pressure was a dribble and the water was either too hot or just plain cold. During the night... the rather large rodent which left his remnants behind on the counter every morning was a reminder that we were living in a house with a grass roof. On an upbeat note. The main village of Palencia was very nice. The staff ( David) at the Nautical Inn was a blessing and helped us out immensely. We rented a jeep from Barefoot Services. Extremely happy with the service we rec`d from them. The Hairy house had a great layout. Nice to have the private room and for those addicted to tv, the cable tv was an added bonus because the night are dark so early. Some items in the grocery stores are a bit pricey but I think you find that happens most places. The Flying Pig, owned by Patrick was a delightful and entertaining character. We enjoyed the company, food and drinks at this establishment.

My friends and I stayed here for a week and loved every minute of it. The open air house with the thatch roof was amazing with the ocean breeze. We went to Placencia to go diving with the whale sharks and had great success. On our down time from sightseeing and diving the Hairy Hut with its beach was perfect for R&R. I highly recommend this rental and I personal will be booking here again.

My boyfriend an I stayed at the Hairy Hut, it was supposed to be 7 days but we extended for 3 more days, we wanted a full extra week but they were already booked :( . I couldn't believe how close we were to the sea. The sound of the waves lulled me to sleep at night or when lay in the hammock on the beach for an afternoon "siesta" This was my first trip to Belize and the location was perfect. The house is located about halfway between Maya Beach and Placencia Village, giving us a great choice when it came to dining options. Steve and Pam knew the restaurant schedules well and were always ready with a reccomendation. Our favorite was the Pickled Parrot with their $10 lunch special. I can't wait to get back! We wish we could have stayed longer.

Well I am not even sure where to start!!!! We were a group of 6 gals and had been travelling on a few different adventures throughout the beautiful country of Belize. Our last stop was here!!!! I am pretty sure I can speak for all of our group saying that this property was PERFECT for our needs!!! The beach was beautiful( I'm a non swimmer) the owner was up bright and early raking and making sure things were in order:) the chairs were soooo very comfortable!!! Walking along the beach was fabulous and the temperature of the water was indescribable !!!! The house itself was so well laid out and we enjoyed our breakfast times as well as appetizer and cocktail hours. Ms.Verns was a wonderful place to have lunch which is a quick walk as well as checking out locals night at the Flying Pig . Then our hosts Steve and Pam!!!!!! Second to none without a doubt:):):) Would I stay here again or recommend it to a friend or family member ABSOLUTELY !!!!! Thank you Steve and Pam for your hospitality. Hopefully our paths with cross again soon!

The "Hairy Hut" was one of the highlights of our trip to Belize! Our group of six ladies stayed for 5 days in Seine Bight, and it was an incredible experience. Stephen and Pam were wonderful hosts - you couldn't have any better!! The house is feet from the beach, which Steve cleans and rakes daily. If swimming in the sea isn't for you, you can use the pool at the hotel next door! The atmosphere is laid back, but it is just want we wanted on our final few days in Belize. The Hairy Hut is about 5 miles from Placencia, which we thoroughly enjoyed as it was quiet, safe, and felt like home. When possible, Stephen and Pam would drive us into town for tours, dinner or an evening out. They treated us like family, and we were so sad to say goodbye. The house itself is beautiful - a mix of a traditional thatched roof home with all the modern conveniences. The house can accommodate many people, so the six of us had so much room! We absolutely had everything we wanted, and could not have asked for anything more. I can not stress enough how wonderful this home and the hosts are - from the moment we arrived, to the moment we left. Look no further for an incredible, affordable accommodation in a great area of Belize. I can't wait to go back...

Spent the first week of December 2013 at the Hairy Hut. Nothing better than only have to walk 20 steps from the kitchen to the Caribbean Sea. The accommodation is large and open with all of the expected amenities. The shower is a work of art. Handy having the hotel next door for those meals you don't wish to cook. Having the owner on site is handy to provide for the local knowledge required for first time visitors. Check with Steve for all of the great restaurants in the area.The village of Seine Bight is colorful with Placencia a short car ride away. Looking forward to another trip.

My wife and I stayed at the Hairy Hut in April. The accommodation is perfectly situated. Close to Placencia but not in the thick of it. Beach front and not busy, beautiful water for calm swimming. The house was perfect after doing hotels day after day. A great place for private relaxation. The interior design is a very nice mix of rustic palm thatch with beautiful wood work and counters with a modern Canadian kitchen. In this part of Belize security was not a real concern and everyone we encountered seemed genuinely happy to meet us. The cleaning staff were very friendly and helpful and I cannot say enough of Steve's hospitality and relaxed attitude even though he never seemed to stop working at something. A place to really, really relax.
