About this cabin rental

We welcome you to our charming and sunny Sierra cabin nestled in the pines. The cabin is located in a peaceful setting in the heart of Tahoe Donner and backs to Tahoe National Forest. It is only minutes away from downtown Truckee, ski resorts, lakes, casinos, restaurants and shopping.

Our 3 bedroom, 2 bath home sleeps up to 7-8 comfortably and is child proof, completely furnished and has a 2-car garage. It is ready for a weekend or week long retreat in the mountains. The cabin has an airlock entry and includes beautiful hardwood floors and ceilings, open kitchen and living room plan, breakfast bar, rock fireplace, and south-facing deck.

The master bedroom is located upstairs with a queen bed, walk-in closet and dresser. The downstairs bedrooms include a twin bunk and dresser, with a TV/DVD. Great for the kids. The other bedroom has a full/twin bunk, dresser and an adjoining bathroom. All bedrooms have beautiful forest views. Cabin Amenities: Includes fully furnished kitchen with dishwasher, gas stove, microwave, refrigerator w/ ice maker, toaster, coffee maker, blender, cooking utensils, dishes, etc. Cable TV, Wireless and High Speed Internet, DVD Player (upstairs and downstairs), central vacuum, central heat, firewood.

This house is perfectly located if you want to explore North Tahoe. It is minutes from the ski area, cross country and summer activity center. Maria is a wonderful responsive host and went out of her way to resolve our one problem during our stay. This house is not a sleek modern minimalist place. It is a warm, comfortable house with absolutely everything you may need. The kitchen is better equipped than mine at home and her laundry and supply room is well stocked with labels and information. There is a roomy garage and even snowshoes available. The big downhill ski areas are probably 25 minutes drive and all the stores and restaurants of Truckee about 10 minutes. We would (and will) stay here again in a heartbeat.

We just spent the weekend here, two adult adults and seven, six, and five-year-old, and had an absolutely great time.We were looking for a place where we could just play in the snow around the property, without having to do the work of taking those kids to a resort. There’s a ton of open forest space behind the home, and the kids just spent all day back there exploring and playing.The unit itself was clean, well appointed and had everything we needed. Absolutely plan to stay here again one day.

We had a great time. Just the right size space for the family, parents, 2 elementary school kids and our teenage nephew. We had everything we needed in the house, well stocked kitchen, plenty of pillows and blankets. Great yard for the kids to run around in the snow. Can’t wait to stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay in this short-term rental very much. Beautiful quiet scenery, loved the cabin decoration and home feel to it, as well as that we already had in place some items to protect our toddler from running down the stairs. Very family friendly and contained all essential amenities. We scored 4/5 mostly because of 2 things: we found several spiderwebs in the windows inside the house and there was some miscommunication related to the checkout. We tried our best to leave everything clean and requested but failed to see the latest msg on chat since we were expecting an email similarly to the initial communication thread. These were minor points , but everything was nice and clean. One last thing to mention is that we did not find the clicker to open the garage near the key holders -but we did find a covid rapid test and hand sanitizer which we thought was a good small gesture that we appreciated it. Overall we highly recommend this stay and we would likely book it again in the future. Thank you for a lovely stay!

We had a great stay at the cabin and were so impressed by how clean it was and how easy it was to check in and find. It is only about 20 min away from Tahoe Donner Ski Ranch where our kids tried skiing for the first time. The cabin checked all the boxes and even allowed us to bring along our pandemic puppy--we couldn't have been happier!

An amazing week in Tahoe Donner. The house was clean, organized, and VERY well stocked with pots/pans/dishes/utensils. We were still working/learning remotely and the internet held up for all of us working concurrently. The backyard was a great extended snow-play area. We enjoyed the house's convenient location to the Tahoe Donner ski area and the guest card discounts (what a great additional perk). The owners were easy to work with and very responsive. A couple of notes that didn't have an impact on our overall stay: The downstairs bedrooms were a little cold, but our kids seemed fine with the heavy comforters. We also used the linens in the house, so the checkout process felt unmanageable for the amount of laundry we needed to do with the sheets/towels per instructions (but we managed). BOTTOM LINE: A wonderful week in Tahoe and a great house/host.

Myself, my husband, our three teenagers, and our medium size dog stayed at this lovely cabin nestled the hills above Truckee. The owners made the whole reservation and access process ready, and contact free, a huge plus during the era of COVID. The cabin itself fit our needs perfectly. It had plenty of beds for us and our children, a kitchen with all the essential cookware and dishes, and two full bathrooms, so we didn’t have to share with our kids :) The property backs up to national forest, with a wonderful trail for walking and biking literally steps from the residence. The cabin is conveniently located about 4 miles from town and Donner Lake, with a small convenience store and deli within walking/biking distance. We weren’t able to access the Club pool or gym due to COVID restrictions, however we had plenty of other activities to entertain us. Overall, this is a great cabin for a family of 5 and a dog, and we’ll definitely reserve again the next time we decide to vacation near Donner.

We had a wonderful time at this property! It was just what we needed for our vacation. The property abuts National Forest with access to a trail in the back of the property. It was great for our children and our dog. The kids loved the bunk beds and the house was very comfortable. The owners were communicative and easy to work with. We will definitely stay there again!

Cabin is cozy and was perfect for our family of five. The kitchen was well stocked and the house was very clean. There is a hiking/biking trail that you can access about 50 feet away from house and a 15 minute walk to the Tahoe Donner recreation building. The bedrooms are small downstairs but are perfect as kids rooms. The owners were very friendly. We would definitely stay in this house again.

We stayed for a 4-night retreat and chose this property because of the combination of it's location (backs to open space for us to hike, ski, play) and the great reviews. The location was in fact excellent. The whole family was able to play right out back in the forest and we didn't see another person several days in a row. There's a shallow slope, just enough to play around a bit with skis or sleds, and not enough to be concerning for small children. The house itself has been thoughtfully appointed, is functional, and cozy. There was plenty of space, and we were able to bring our dog along for her first time in the snow - she loved it (and the house, too). We did run into an issue when we arrived - the unit had not been cleaned. While that's never a fun situation, the owners were extremely responsive and addressed the situation immediately and with professionalism and generosity. Based on our experience I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tai and Maria's lovely Wolakota Cabin! The location was perfect - close to all the amenities Tahoe Donner has to offer (Trout Creek Rec Center, The Lodge, The Northwoods Clubhouse, ...etc.) and with the most gorgeous open space directly BEHIND the cabin! The cabin was clean, cozy and very welcoming. We have rented other homes in the area for the last four Christmas holidays - and have been disappointed. Wolakota was a wonderful surprise! It was well stocked and equipped with everything we could have asked for. It felt like a second home, not a rental. We are looking forward to our return visit this summer. We went with 3 small children and the house was super easy to stay at. Nice layout for cooking, eating, entertaining friends, kids to play. Nice large deck in front, running/walking trail along the back of the property, horseshoe pit and swing in back. The beds were comfortable and the comforters luxurious. Staying again in summer. Conveniently located near Tahoe Donner amenities. Tai and Maria were always very pleasant and responsive to questions.

We stayed at this lovely home for 4 months starting in July. The home was well furnished - especially the kitchen - and very comfortable. After that length of stay we felt like it was home! Our family of 6 found this home both very homey and cozy. Other have mentioned the warm colors; it was also well stocked with the essentials that make a house a home -- kindling, butter, oil, spices, extra blankets, games, etc. The home also backed to greenbelt which we and our dog much appreciated. The owner was very helpful both before and during our stay. There may have been cheaper places to stay in Tahoe Donner, but we were lucky to receive excellent value staying at this charming home on Hansel Ave. And our children will have memories of a White Christmas.
