Casa de Cuentos - House of Stories -3400-square feet COZY and LUXURIOUS home-Back on the vacation rental market! It had been a much loved vacation rental since 2007-2021. We moved in full-time in 2021 and built a new house. Now, since June of 2026, it is ready for you to BE HERE to find your 'story.' Tranquil and mystical, your daydreams and night dreams here will delight you.
Located halfway between the town of Taos and the Taos Ski Valley, our adobe 'home-away-from-home' is private YET close to everything you may want to do while in the Taos area... IF you feel like leaving. (15 minutes to town and 20-25 minutes to TSV to ski.) You are also close to FOUR different ski areas and a snowshoeing/cross-county park when you stay at Casa de Cuentos, too! Over 500+ 5-STAR Reviews on combined platforms! NM SAFE CERTIFIED. We are convinced you will love our home as much as we do and not care to leave the premises often, yet you could choose to do so with ease. Our hot tub, den-bar area, art studio, and game/movie and book library will provide lots of entertainment. Sit by one of the fireplaces to dream stories, tell stories or write stories.
Wood-beamed ceilings, wood and saltillo tiles throughout add to the warmth and tenderness of Casa de Cuentos. There is a separate recreation room area with additional living room and Kiva if one needs space from others while visiting. Our kitchen has just been remodeled and new pictures with knotty alder cabinets and granite countertops will be posted soon. Hallway bathroom is currently undergoing a partial remodel, also.
CASA de Cuentos: The main house has 2 bedrooms (a KING bed in master and a full bed in the hallway bedroom. There is a living area upstairs with 360 views. There are two built-in extra long singles upstairs-but there are NO curtains. So, it is bright up there, on purpose. VIEWS! There are 2 bathrooms (one with a large shower and the master bathroom has a deep, soaking tub with handheld shower attachment) and a HUGE den with a BAR and beer fridge. There are four living areas. You have fabulous views of the mountains out the north-side: large windows frame the mountains perfectly and let them into the living/dining area. To the south - you have expansive views of the valley and hot air balloons can be viewed floating eye-level or below in the distance. Daytime: Taos-turquoise blue skies during the day and STARS in the night-sky are so close you can touch them while sitting in the hot tub in the courtyard. (I just got out of the hot tub and I need to report there are more stars here than I ever knew existed...it is 'plum' full of stars--as my Grandma used to say.)
The views from the second-story art-studio-living-area are THEE best in Taos--360 degrees of turquoise skies and mountains and sunrises and sunsets. Watch the moon rise, watch the sun rise and sun set..from the art studio-heaven! (Dave designed this 1000-square foot addition and has done all of the remodeling.)
Pinons and sagebrush are the native plants that blanket the grounds of Casa de Cuentos and their sweet smells are all of the aromatherapy you will need while at this tranquil adobe. Two outdoor living areas: a deck with a hot tub in N.E. courtyard with new flagstone patio with a built-in firepit facing the mountains and a new patio on the South-side facing the valley. The NorthEast courtyard has a huge fenced in area (fence is 6-ft. tall) for one dog’s pleasure and well-being. We will consider two well - behaved dogs. Please ask. The Northwest yard (where we parked our camper) also has it's own patio and a huge fenced in area for pets and play.
Casa de Cuentos - the perfect place for a few people to have solitude and/or for a small family.
We have a fabulous fenced in courtyard for a dog. Pet fee for one dog is $150. We may accept two well-behaved dogs. Please contact us before booking to ask.
Furnishings-decorations may be a bit different than the pictures; alas, they will be clean, attractive and cozy.

Guest comment : My husband and I, our two grown daughters, son-in-law and grandson had the best vacation ever at Casa de Cuentos! The home is cozy and warm -- very relaxing and peaceful, comfortably furnished and well maintained. Our family could not have been made to feel more at home. The views from the living room and dining room windows are spectacular. The location is secluded but also convenient to both town and the ski valley. We will absolutely stay here again.
Guest Comment: A magical place! The photos do not do it justice -- it is serene, romantic, beautiful, peaceful, idyllic... My boyfriend and I were so inspired we decided to get married while we were there! My Mom and brother were so inspired at what we did, they mended relations after years! We live in a neighborhood with a dead-end dirt-graveled shared easement-driveway. Two other neighbors share our long, dirt driveway; and, our house is very private with lots of trees, open space and a tall, privacy fence. 10 MPH is max. speed on our driveway. Exterior camera on Driveway-Parking area. We provide hot tub maintenance every few days. Dave will pick up your trash from the garage once a week and take it to the dump. We do water the flowers every few days, also.
Our property also houses a casita that is a short-term rental--which we will be taking care of while you rent this home...the "big" house. Casita Ave Maria is a totally separate property across the driveway...with its own patio, hot tub and parking area that cannot be seen from the "big" house. Both houses have lots of privacy.

Land of Enchantment lives up to its billing. Charming property with all amenities one could want. Location is about as close as one can get without renting a condo in Ski Valley itself. Perfect spot to get away from it all for our first time in years. Prime shopping is as close as the ski slopes if you aren't a ski buff. Excellent communications with our hosts before and during the stay with written guidance and suggestions on everything involved with the stay. Certainly would see about staying there again.

Firepit and hot tub favorites of mine. This house is so large you could get lost. It was beautifully decorated and very clean. 10 stars for the people and views. Sue & Greg Milewski

Best VRBO I have ever stayed in! Clean! Floors, kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, living areas all just well taken care of! Great communications with owners! Will rent any properties owned by Tammi & Dave!

Casa de Cuentos is a beautiful home with incredible views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and Taos Plateau. The house looks at least as good -- if not better -- than the photos posted by Tammi and Dave. It is quiet, peaceful and comfortable. Loved using the hot tub after a day of hiking. Made s'more on the outside firepit. The 360-degree views from the second-floor bedroom are amazing -- our son loved sleeping up there. All the beds were comfortable. Lots of living space for a six-person group like ours to spread out. Tammi was always prompt in response to questions we would ask her. It is clear that she and Dave have spent a lot of time keeping the property in top shape. I would definitely recommend Casa de Cuentos for families and friends looking for an awesome Taos base camp.
