Known for its' thriving arts community, festivals, and events, New Smyrna offers exciting experiences as well as the tranquil feeling of a welcoming hometown. Art galleries, antique shops, museums, parks, marinas, and scenic Riverside Drive add to its' character. This lovely and unique vacation home is conveniently located just two miles from the stunning wide golden beaches, tennis, golf, and the nightlife of lively Flagler Avenue. New Smyrna Beach's Dunes walkway, a dog beach, and local bike trails (use of 2 beach bikes FREE) are particular favorites. A short drive to Orlando with its' many attractions including Disney and Universal. Also nearby are historic St. Augustine, Mt. Dora (antiques), Daytona (famous beaches, boardwalk & speedway), and the Space Coast. Private Dock with 2 additional floating docks with sand beach.....perfect for kayaks*(use of 2 provided free) & paddleboarding.
Watch the frequent Space Launches right from our dock. They are spectacular...especially the night launches.
Great Fishing from your private dock. Enjoy seeing dolphins & manatees as you relax on the dock. Nighttime fishing light as well.

Herb & his daughter JJ were the ultimate hosts. If I could rate our stay here a 6 star I would. The carriage house is uniquely decorated and everything you may need is there. Our favorite spot was the private upper deck where we spent mornings having coffee and later afternoons relaxing. If you’re tempted by this place GO! You won’t be disappointed.

I have stayed in a number of vacation homes and this is one of the few I will return to. The carriage house was exactly as described, immaculately clean with comfortable bedding. The outdoor spaces are a joy. Although easy walking distance to Canal Street it was quiet and peaceful. The host, Herb, was a true delight- close by if needed but never intrusive.

Although this winter's freeze took a toll on the beautiful gardens, the property is enchanting inside and out. Between the upstairs deck, pool, and dock, there's a spot for every mood and time of the day. The owner (Herb) is personable, making himself available to guests, while respecting their privacy -- quite a balancing act. Canal Street is about four blocks away, an easy walk, and Flagler Avenue shops and beach are 1.5 miles away, a manageable walk or bike ride for most. A special and very welcome plus for me is the owner leaves enough time between rentals that the guest is not overwhelmed by a list of things to do before checking out. Potential guests should be aware that the cottage layout, although perfect for a couple or single traveler, would be tight for four despite the foldout couch for more than a day or two. The layout also requires frequent movement between floors via a relatively narrow stairway. The outdoor stairs are more manageable. All rooms are lovingly decorated with art and crafts, so be sure your pets are quiet natured. I heartily recommend 9 Oaks to any travelers seeking a quiet oasis close to both the Canal District and beach. It's a clear 5-star accommodation!
