Small garden with sitting-out area with garden furniture. 1-acre natural grounds. Bike store. Electric car charging point. Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking. Please note: There is a pond the garden, 100 yards away.. The Coach House is situated in the village of Bootle, in western Cumbria, just 2.7 miles from the beach. It was originally used to garage the horse drawn coach, and has now been converted into the lovely, detached cottage it is today and in front of The Coach House is The Old Rectory.
Coniston Water, the quieter western fells of the Lake District, can be accessed for fabulous walking opportunities for all abilities. Golf is available locally at Seascale and Silecroft, and the nearest train station is at Bootle itself, only a 30 minute walk away with links to both Carlisle in the north and Lancaster in the south, so leave the car at home and head out for the day. Ravenglass, home of the narrow gauge railway fondly known as ’La’al Ratty’ is just 8 miles away and provides fun for all ages along the 7-mile stretch of railway line passing through stunning scenery. There are two riding stables within 10 miles. Beach 1 mile. Shop 200 yards, pub serving food 5 miles.

We’ve just got home from a well deserved week away at The Coach House and we loved the tranquility of the place. The very hospitable owner Joan met us upon arrival and gave us a guided tour and the house had absolutely everything we needed. We used the house as a base to explore Coniston, Hawkshead and Windermere as well as visiting local beaches at Haverigg and Millom. It was lovely to return to the peace and quiet of the house in the evening and light the logburner. The stars are some of the brightest we’ve ever seen because theres no light pollution and no noise from passing traffic which made a real change for us city dwellers. I was able to charge my electric car at the owners property which was so helpful and took away any anxiety over finding charging stations. The King William IV pub nearby was amazing and their festive baguette was delicious. The local shop in Bootle is very well equipped and the nearby farm shop looked very popularIt was our first trip to Cumbria and we’ve had a wonderful time .

The accommodation is lovely and the rooms are much bigger than what we were expecting. The owner is friendly. It was clean and full of character. We would stay again. Good value for money.
