Ancient Garden Boutique Hoi An

We stayed at Ancient Garden Boutique for 4 nights/5 days as a family of five with an infant, visiting Hoi An to celebrate our daughter’s 1st birthday. Overall, this was a very pleasant stay and considering what we paid, we felt it offered excellent value for money. 📍 Location: The location is one of the biggest advantages of this property. It sits roughly between Hoi An Ancient Town and the beach, making it convenient to reach either side. - Around 15 mins walk or 5 min by Grab to either the Old Town or the beach. - The surrounding neighbourhood is peaceful and considerably less touristy. - There are several nice cafes and restaurants nearby where you see mostly locals eating. - For families with children, there is a cafe right next door with an arcade, which was a nice bonus. We really liked being slightly away from the tourist crowds while still being close enough to everything. 🛏️ Room: We booked two rooms on the 2nd floor. The staff actually recommended that we stay on the ground floor because we had a young child, but we specifically preferred the top floor for a quieter ambience. They politely accepted our preference without any issue. The rooms were very spacious and the two rooms had connecting balconies. One balcony was absolutely huge while the other was also quite spacious. The beds were comfortable and the air conditioning worked perfectly despite the large room size. The marble bathtubs in the bathrooms were also huge and a nice touch. Bathroom amenities were adequate. ⚠️ A few things to know about the rooms: One of our rooms had neither a bathroom window nor an exhaust fan, so after using the bathroom, the smell could linger into the room. The bathroom also has a curtain rather than a proper door. It wasn't a problem for our family, but this could be important for some travellers depending on who they are travelling with. This seems to be quite common in hotels around Da Nang and Hoi An, the pillows were unusually large and therefore slightly uncomfortable for us. There is also no intercom/telephone in the room, so if you need assistance, you have to go down to reception. 🧼 Cleanliness: This deserves its own mention, there was no mould anywhere in our rooms or bathrooms. For us, this was a major positive. Hoi An is humid, and mould can be a genuine issue in hotels in this region. We specifically noticed how clean and well-maintained the rooms were in this regard. The rooms were cleaned thoroughly every day, and we had absolutely no complaints about housekeeping. 🍳 Breakfast: Breakfast was not included in our room rate and cost 90,000 VND per person, which we thought was phenomenal value. What we particularly liked was the concept. Instead of a large buffet where food can sit around and eventually get wasted, you choose: - 1 main dish with options including eggs, pho, smoothie bowls, etc. - 1 dessert such as waffles, pancakes or fruit. - Coffee, tea, bread and fresh juices are complimentary. Everything is prepared fresh and hot to order, so you aren't eating from a cold buffet. We really liked this approach, less food waste and better-quality food. 👨‍💼 Staff & Service: Went Above & Beyond The staff were excellent throughout our stay. What really stood out was how thoughtful they were for our daughter's 1st birthday. They arranged a simple but very sweet birthday decoration in our room, completely complimentary. It wasn't extravagant, but it was genuinely heartwarming and made the occasion more special for us. Another thing we appreciated was that the hotel doesn't push tours and tourist activities on you. If you are interested in an activity, you can simply ask the reception and compare their price with platforms such as Klook or Get Your Guide. In our experience, they were either the same price or cheaper. Just a great overall place to stay….incredible concrete bathtub, nice pool & open air breakfast!

A beautiful property only a 10 minute cycle from the old town. The staff are so lovely welcoming you and are accommodating to everything you need. The rooms are huge and clean and the pool is a very welcome break from the afternoon heat. Just fabulous!

Enjoyed my 9 nights at the Ancient Garden, located between the town and An Bang beach, so reachable by the free bicycles or Grab taxis. The staff are amazing and the room was very big specially for one person. Thank you.
