Don’t miss your chance of a lifetime to see one of the more active and friendly volcanoes in the world. Aloha Sweet Hale is a mere 5 minutes away from Volcanoes National Park. A custom cedar log home completed in 2013, with manicured lush surroundings -hapu’u ferns over 15 feet high reaching up to the sky, fragrant kalihi ginger and an abundance of hydrangeas of various colors throughout the yard.

Our 3 bedroom 2 bathroom home offers all of the comforts of home and then some. Beds have flannel sheet to keep you warm on cool Volcano nights; a towel warmer in both bathrooms has your towel ready for a warm hug; skylights in each room lets in the morning sun to get you ready for your day of adventure and the moonlight and starlight at night for a view not visible in the city. The fully equipped kitchen lets you dine in or you can BBQ on the lanai, if you choose. Snuggle up with that someone special by the wood burning fireplace.

The covered lanai extends across the entire back of the home. There’s plenty of seating to enjoy your meals outdoors and the beauty of your surroundings. The relaxing hot tub on the covered lanai welcomes you after a busy day of adventure.

Since we are in a rural secluded location, we have 3 outdoor security cameras .Two in the front: one to monitor the parking area and the other to monitor the front door. The one on the back lanai is to monitor the French doors and back door entrances. The cameras are not monitor during our guest's stays. We respect our guest's privacy.

The cabin has everything you could need for a day at the Volcano or at the beach. It is so cozy and comfortable. Lorena has thought of everything. The property is so private but absolutely beautiful. You have amazing garden views from each room. The fans in each room were wonderful as well. We will definitely be coming back.

Aloha Sweet Hale is quiet and located in a natural setting.This home is clean, very comfortable and well organized. Lorena has thought of everything that you would need during your stay. For the chilly mornings at breakfast, we would use the electric heater provided. Lorena is a great communicator. The artwork is amazing. We were so grateful for the washer and dryer. On our last night/last day, the Volcano erupted. Our family went to the Jagger Museum area to watch. Raining and very few people at that time (4 am). We plan on coming back next year.THANKS LORENA!!!

This was an ideal spot for two couples who wanted to explore the park (and stay on alert for the eruption, which we did see!) but have a very comfortable home to return to, just minutes from the park. We made good use of the wood stove, the hot tub and the well stocked kitchen. Lorena is a very attentive and responsive host. We had a little mix up about the lock box code, but she answered her cell phone immediately and talked us through it. Would definitely recommend.

This is an amazing property six minutes from the park entrance. We spent the whole day exploring the park. After a relaxing dinner and soak in the hot tub to soothe some sore muscles I was just about to call it a night. I just couldn’t get enough of the stars on the night sky. I headed out for one last look and the sky was glowing red. ten minutes later we were back in the park watching an amazing eruption. It was amazing.

This property was so peaceful. We enjoyed hearing the birds and sitting in the jacuzzi at night. The home was immaculate and beautiful. The home worked great for us. Two adult couples visiting the island. We were looking for a place close to the national park. On the day we arrived, there was a torrential rain storm the entire day. The host was able to get us into the house early which was super helpful since touring was not an option. We enjoyed the hot tub and playing cards to pass the day. Beautiful landscaping. Lots of room. And the full size washer/dryer was much appreciated.

My brother stayed in this property a few years ago & when I told him we were going to big island he immediately sent me the link & said that “WE HAD TO STAY HERE”. He said it was the highlight of his trip when he visited. So we booked it! The host was great at communication with us… sent us check in instructions via text at the perfect times so I didn’t have to dig through my emails to find what to do after a long day of traveling & driving. The property itself is serene & magical. I walked outside a few times & explored around the home just by myself to appreciate the beautiful landscaping, soft winds, bright stars & sounds of the birds & frogs. Being someone who’s always lived in the city/suburbs it was such a different experience that I wish I can bottle up & keep with me whenever I needed to feel peace & tranquility. My kids (5 & 7) loved the house too. The sounds of the frogs at night were amazing. We kept the windows open & just enjoyed the sounds. We got to see wild pigs from a distance & the kids loved that too. The house is super close by to the volcano National park. We got to go there twice- once at night and once during the day to do a hike. Only bummer was that when we went the jacuzzi unexpectedly wasn’t working. They quickly sent out a technician to fix it bu it needed a part so we didn’t get to use it during our stay. My brother said it was so nice when he stayed and used the jacuzzi so I was looking forward to that.

Very beautiful property that is just minutes to the park entrance. Everything was super clean and the beds/bedding were all very comfortable. We didn’t cook but the kitchen seemed to be well stocked (and very tidy!). We also didn’t use the hot tub but it too looked super clean (unlike most places we’ve stayed). The sound of the tree frogs at night is magical! Would not hesitate to stay here again.

We loved the wood stove the landscaping and the quiet relaxing environment. The house was lovely and well thought out. The beds were very comfortable and the house was clean and comfortable. My only negative is the appliances seem over worked and loud and could use an upgrade. I understand the need for cameras but the one facing the back door seemed to take in the hot tub and it felt a bit intrusive. Other than that we loved our short stay. Thank you.

Our group, ranging from 5 to 8 has been staying in volcano at various places over the last 10 years. This home has been the most perfect in so many ways. Their attention to detail is unparalleled; little touches that you wouldn’t expect are everywhere, like heated towel bars, heaters in the bedrooms, ice in the freezer, nice dishes and flatware - not cheep seconds, lots of nice glasses and cups. This might sound like it should be usual, but it isn’t. Most people furnished their places with furniture and decor from secondhand shops. It’s not the case in this home. The host was a great communicator and left clear instructions for us that were easy and sensible to follow. If we go back to Volcano, we will definitely stay here again.

We spent 3 nights in this cabin as the home base for exploring the Hilo side of the island. This property is located minutes from the entrance to the National Park making it perfect for a multi day exploration of the park. It is less than an hour to Hilo. It was clean and well equipped. The hot tub was wonderful after hiking. The yard was beautiful and well maintained. A private botanical garden.

My wife and I just spent four nights in this beautiful home. If you are looking to explore Volcano National Park and/or the eastern side of the Big Island, the location is perfect. The home is about 3 miles from the national park entrance and it takes just 10 minutes to drive there. Hilo is a 40 minute drive, and you will want to load up on groceries and gas there if you are planning to spend any length of time in the house. Volcano has very limited grocery options. The house itself is very nicely decorated, spacious, and has beautiful grounds. It is located in a quiet neighborhood. The covered deck off the back of the house is huge, well furnished with a large dining table and has a modern gas grill and hot tub. The kitchen is very well equipped and modern. There is no dishwasher, garbage disposal, air conditioning, or central heating. Frankly, we did not need any of those things. Multiple fans and space heaters are provided if needed, as are extra duvets and blankets. The owner was very prompt in replying to emails and offering advice. The housekeeper was also available for any issues that might arise. We would love to stay here again if we come back.

We are so glad we stayed in this remote part of the island. This cabin was clean, neat and cozy for the two nights we stayed. We enjoyed the hot tub at night listening to nature. It was just a short few minutes drive to the Volcano visitor center. The beds were comfortable and our family of 5 felt at home. We would stay again when we come back into town.

We very much enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home in the beautiful native Hawaiian rainforest! This home is well stocked with everything you need for the stay and is located just 5 minutes from the National Park. We had a relaxing time sitting on the deck in the morning with coffee and enjoyed the hot tub in the evenings. The owners are kind and communicative and have maintained a beautiful property. Property was well maintained. Close to volcano national park. Very quiet! Loved the hot chocolate and tea provided. Lots of books with information about area. Deck with grill and hot tub was a treat. Plenty of pillows and extra blankets. Only feedback is no dishwasher however not an issue for just two of us. Would definitely recommend and we would return to this property.

The house was exactly as described and was very clean. It is super convenient to Volcanoes National Park. It was so nice not to have a long drive after hiking all day, and the hot tub was a plus. The kitchen and bathrooms were stocked with everything we needed for our short stay. My only suggestion would be to add a cooler for taking lunch into VNP.

This was our second stay at this property and we loved every minute of our stay. The cabin is well appointed, clean, and a perfect space to vacation with family and friends. The hot tub is wonderful especially after a day of hiking and the fireplace adds the perfect cozy touch. Shirley sends out timely communication and was quick to respond to my emails. She is a terrific host. We are looking forward to our next visit!

Aloha Sweet Hale was a good place for our time on this part of the island. It is tastefully styled with a thoughtful layout that provides a lot of useful space for a family, and has lovely grounds. We all slept well with the quiet surroundings, extremely comfortable beds and pillows, and cozy linens. Shirley is also a very kind and responsive host. The house and grounds are in good condition and generally well stocked, though we couldn't give it five stars because we felt it could use a refresh/restock on some household items. The house sleeps six, but there were only three spoons, and only 4-5 forks. We also couldn't get the gas grill to work - the burners were rusty and corroded, and despite turning them all up on high the temperature in the grill never reached 350. We tried to change the gas tank in case the one on it was low, but the extra was empty. I would note that I am certain Shirley would have helped, but at this point it was late and we just gave up and cooked everything on the stove. Floors, bathrooms, and linens were all clean, but there were numerous webs in ceiling corners that had been there a while. This is a very cute house, with all the amenities one needs for a great trip to Volcano and very nice host. With some attention to the overlooked spots and the items prone to wear and tear, this could be five stars.

This hale is a hidden gem on the Big Island. It sits amongst an ohia forest and is very private. It is perfect for some quiet time in nature with all the modern perks - hot tub, beautiful art, comfortable beds, true sense of aloha and peace. And very close to an amazing restaurant called ‘Ohelo. We will definitely be back!!!

Pete and Shirley host the best rental property we’ve ever stayed at. The home was equipped for us so that all we had to do was show up, we’ll we need our own groceries. The house keepers had the home immaculate for our arrival, this includes the stove and hot tub. The landscape was so very well maintained. The location of the home is ideal for quite days and evenings to rest and recover from life’s hustle. Our experience on this property with Pete and Shirley was truly superior.

Stayed 3 nights and enjoyed every minute. The grounds are gorgeous, the "cabin" is spacious and clean. We could see stars through the skylights, hear the birds through the windows. Loved being so close to nature. And we were exceptionally lucky to have great weather. We hiked every morning/afternoon in Volcano National Park and then spent evenings grilling dinner on the deck and relaxing in the hot tub. Couldn't ask for a nicer retreat. Thank you Shirley.
