About this house rental
Waterfront home with a hot tub and views of Spieden Island. Sunrise and Sunset House. Your quiet home away from home, located just one mile northeast of Roche Harbor village, is waiting! The perfect spot to escape from the mainland, away from traffic noise and crowds and ease into 'island time'.
1 dog per reservation. The dog is not to be left unattended. If a dog is left unattended and a neighbor calls to complain, renter will be charged a $200 fee. House trained. Weight must be less than 60 lbs. No pets on furniture. The renter assumes responsibility for all extra cleaning needed such as emergency carpet cleaning, furniture replacement, and or emergency laundromat use for bulky items like comforters and pillows. The dog must be house trained and on-leash while outside.
This home is comfortably appointed throughout. The kitchen has been stocked with ample cookware! The entertainment has also undergone an upgrade and now offers DISH for PAC-12 network and local channels.
This home is perfect for a quiet and relaxing family getaway (not suitable for parties or large gatherings as it is located in a quiet neighborhood)
The house sleeps 8 comfortably, with two large living areas. There is a fully equipped kitchen with separate dining room, three bedrooms, and three bathrooms. The upstairs of the home offers a large bedroom, but is split to allow privacy between the 3 twin beds on one end and the Queen bed on the other. Television and internet via satellite. The entire back of the house faces Spieden Channel and there is a wraparound deck complete with a hot tub that can accommodate six.
All you need to bring is your clothes and your food - everything else is at the house: linens, cookware, utensils, towels, etc.
Bird watching will result in seeing bald eagles, Oregon juncos, American crows, gold finch, northern flickers and a variety of seagulls.
Deer drop by often on the property and there have been many sightings of otters, Dall's porpoises, harbor seals, and yes, sometimes the resident orcas pay us a visit.
Our home is only 12 miles from Friday Harbor, where the ferry lands. There are plenty of opportunities on San Juan Island to visit historic landmarks, go shopping, stroll around museums, attend a live theater performance, listen to music, hike grasslands or mountains, go fishing in fresh water or salt, walk on a beach, ride a horse, attend a farmers' market, learn about the island, explore thrift stores, lose yourself in a bookstore, chat with the friendly locals, sail into the sunset, eat like royalty, commune with nature, and sleep like a baby.

Perfect location for our boat trip to Roche Harbor - less than 10 min by car from the marina. Kitchen was very well stocked for those who like to prepare their own meals. Amazing views of Spieden Channel and Speiden Island. Hot tub was very clean. Only disappointment was no BBQ on the deck but that's due to local regulations prohibiting open flames outdoors.

Well equipped and spacious home on the water. You will want to sit on the deck for hours and watch the beauty. Two living rooms, one with tv, and one looking out towards the water. Great beds, linens, and well-stocked kitchen.The one complaint is that the 2nd floor bedrooms have skylights - the bedroom with queen has a sheer window covering and the skylight in the kid room with 3 twin beds has no cover so it's really light in the rooms until late in summer eve and early in mornings. bring stick-on window shades!

We had the most relaxing time staying here at the sunrise and sunset home, the view across speiden channel was just perfect, we had deer visit us daily below the deck and an eagle came and landed in the tree's right in front of the deck on the property, The Jacuzzi was an added bonus as we were able to sit and soak and enjoy the view, there is almost 100 % privacy and as no one was next door we didnt have to worry about being watched, The only thing we would change is the wicker table on the deck, it has seen better days and couldnt hold a drink as the wicker sags and the cup will fall, other than that this home gat 10's all around

We recently stayed at the property and it definitely had an excellent location, but unfortunately, the services provided were not up to par. To start with, there was no shampoo provided, for a rental this price this seems like a basic toiletry to have provided, which was quite disappointing as it's a standard amenity that we would expect from any rental property.
Another major issue was that the fireplace was broken, and despite the management were aware of it before our arrival, they were unable to resolve the problem during our stay. They made no attempt to rectify the situation afterwards and our request for any reasonable restitution were rejected by the owner. This was a letdown, as we did not feel respected as guests. This lack of customer service was disheartening, and it left us feeling dissatisfied with our overall experience.
The communication with the management company was also not good. Their responses were slow and all the answers we got were a straight no. Don’t expect to check out later than 10am. They wouldn’t even try if it’s not for their convenience.
Despite the prime location of the rental, we cannot recommend this property due to the inadequate services provided and the lack of effort made by the management to address the issues. Overall, it’s a very unwelcoming stay. We were very disappointed.
