About this house rental

Jamaica Beach is a unique community located on Galveston's West End. It is a small-town community with full-time residents as well as visitors who appreciate the scenic sunsets, the quiet streets for walking/bicycling, and the friendliness of everyone. Our beach house is located conveniently near the bird sanctuary, Galveston St. Park, and the beach. Jamaica Beach has its own new public pool with a huge shallow area for the kids. Admission fee is $5/day per person with children under the age of six being admitted free with parents. The boat launch is only blocks away with the convenience of a sandwich shop, grill, hardware store, Red Box, and a small grocery store nearby. The Cozy Cottage is a free-standing studio-plan (open, no interior walls). The cottage is surrounded by palm trees. There is one queen-sized bed. There are living/dining areas, and a convenient sized kitchen. Ideally, the cottage would be a quiet getaway for a couple of friends or that significant other. If needed, there is a sofa bed. Towels/linens are provided along with paper towels and toilet tissue. The kitchen is adequately supplied with a coffee pot, microwave, and dishwasher. For cooking, dishes and cookware are also available. The electric stove and the refrigerator are new.

The owners were very accommodating on ways to see every guest including our 3 year old was thought of. We were looking for somewhere affordable where we could enjoy the beach without breaking the bank on lodging. It was close to everything. This cabin had just enough room for a small family, and plenty to do between family games, grill and sitting areas, and any supplies and beverage variety you could think of to feel like you were home away from home.

We always love coming down to Jamaica Beach for the summer and this visit did not disappoint. Richard promptly answered any question I had regarding our stay. The cottage was perfect for my family of 3. It was close to the beach and was very peaceful at night. We will definitely be returning to the Cozy Cottage.

Our first time visiting Jamaica Beach and we weren’t disappointed. The home had everything we needed. It is a no frills place but we felt as if we were visiting a family home for the week. Very comfortable and a welcoming feel . And for that price we have no complaints!

The property was nice but in need of some simple repairs and maintenance. The beach was farther than the impression given. If your young 10 blocks is not far but we had to drive. Permanent neighbors had dogs that barked constantly. There was lots of lawn chairs locked in the garage that we had no access to and none outside, Laundry area and machines were usable but needed cleaned bad. Property manager indicated that paper products was provided, but being in that business it was obvious that what was there was left by previous guest. Be prepared to purchase what you need if staying longer. The listing indicated housekeeping but we saw no one. If extra charge it was unclear.

The house was exactly as stated in the description. Nothing fancy, but very clean and comfortable. It is basically one large room with a half wall separating the bedroom from the living room. The kitchen was well stocked and efficient. We had a minor issue with the DVD player, but the owners took care of it immediately. Since it rained most of the time we were there, we really looked forward to watching some movies in the evening. I would definitely stay again. Just a short walk or drive to the beach or to the bay. This is a great little beach hose for a couple or small family. The hosts have it well stocked with everything you may need during your stay. It is clean and well maintained. I would definitely stay here again!

We stayed here over July 4th weekend. We were here with a large group of friends that shared a larger house right on the beach. This place was *perfect* because we had beach access through the other houses, and it was quiet and off the beaten path. Everything we needed was in the house. It was super clean, no weird smells that you usually find with beach rentals. Easy to get in and out, close to convenience and grocery stores. We will definitely stay here again when we visit Galveston.

We had read the online reviews from previous renters and were pleasantly pleased upon arrival and found that items others had minor complaints about were fixed. The water pressure was just fine, the new air conditioning unit cooled the house great and my hot natured husband never complained once, he even turned the temp up because he got cold (and that never happens!). Extra blankets came in handy! The layout and size worked great for us, as I didn’t want the little ones too far away in a strange place. The couch is roomy and comfortable for the 3 year old and the open concept allowed us to be close. We did take a pack and play for the 1 year old to sleep in and it fit perfectly in the corner of the bedroom area. There were plenty of towels, wash cloths and hand towels in the bathroom as well as toilet paper. We brought our own bathing supplies but there were plenty provided if you forgot something. Kitchen was well stocked, and everything worked great. I’m thankful cleaning supplies were also available so we could clean up and wash dishes. We did not have to go to the store for anything, whatever we forgot to bring, we found it at the cabin. I’m so glad we chose this rental, it was close enough to Galveston and the beach but out of the busy touristy traffic. We took the little ones to the park just two street up and they enjoyed it. We would love to come back in the summer to swim in the neighborhood pool also. There was also a downstairs covered area with picnic table and grill that was really good with us having little kids were we could watch them play and not be worried about the stairs or getting too close to the deck railing. The neighborhood was pretty quiet, saw several neighbors walking their dogs and kids playing down the roads. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a little place out of the high traffic but still want to enjoy the beach. We also recommend the Waterman restaurant just about 2-3 miles away, it was delicious and a beautiful place over the water. Thanks again.
