Captains Quarters - Historical Home Downtown Rental

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay. If you are looking for a clean comfortable place to lay your head this is it. I loved the character of the place. We only had two issues with our stay and it had to do with the neighbors. The parking area is a little small and they had a big truck parked back there and then the other two cars parked so it was difficult to park in a spot. I have a smaller SUV so we made it work, any thing bigger would have had to park on the street. The other issue was the neighbor played her music pretty loud our second night… until about 1am. We just turned our fan up and it was fine. Otherwise, we walked to Burke Street, and only a block away from Foothills Brewing company. I would stay here again. The host was an excellent communicator.

Cute room. Very clean. Close to lots of shops. Central location. Super easy check in and check out.

The host was very welcoming. Our rooms were very clean. The bed was a bit hard for our liking, but the bedding was comfortable. The wifi wasn't very good, we unplugged the tv and still spotty. The location was everything. We walked to downtown for breakfast and we were also thankful for a first floor room and parking right out front. The refrigerator was a nice touch. A coffee maker would have been appreciated since there were no coffee shops close by. Overall a good stay.

The location was great for experiencing downtown Winston-Salem. The room wasn't as good. It's very small and in a very old building. The furniture has a musty smell. The only temperature control is a vent that won't shut all the way. I had to call the owner to let me out of the room as the rain made the door swell too tight to open. TV works very well , but sometimes you need to search the channels to get started back on. There is an iron and mini ironing board but no good place to set them up. I used the little roll-top desk. The towels were very soft.
