Nice quiet stay at Bologna

Airconditioned room. Very gook breakfast with fresh cakes every day. Very quiet location. Very good restaurant within walking distance. Enough parking space outside and free of charge.Bus stop near by. Safe storage for our bikes and the villa is behind a safely closed gate.

One needs to realize Villa Brizzy is an appartment house. For one of the rooms (garden view) at Villa Brizzi, one needs to go through the owners appartment, which feels like being an intruder. (Children playing in the room) Family was very friendly though. In the review a parking on site was mentioned, but this was not the case. There is good parking outside, but with a fully packed car that felt somewhat uncomfortable. Owner offered us storage in the general underground garage for our expensive racing bikes, which was locked at night and fully out of sight.

Welcoming hosts who offer a family type accomodation

Francesco and Ionela were very welcoming and friendly hosts inviting us to have coffee and cake with them. Large upstairs attic room in gated grounds was very clean and well set up. Breakfast was homemade pie, biscuits, yoghurt and cereal.

Exceptional

I stayed at Villa Brizzi for 5 nights in late March. I had a wonderful time and would certainly recommend to anyone planning to stay in Bologna. The host Francesco and his family are extremely friendly and welcoming - they really make you feel at home in their wonderful house. They gave me helpful tips regarding what to see and do, as well as information regarding buses and trains. I also got to hear about many different aspects of Bolognese and Italian life and culture, and to learn some Italian from their lovely daughter. The house itself is beautiful, basically a large mansion house set in a nicely landscaped garden with views across the opposite valley and the river below. I stayed in the top room, which was huge and had a large double bed, en suite, television, table, and lounge chair, as well as lots of books and storage space. They gave me a set of keys so I could come in and out freely, which was very flexible. The breakfast was excellent, home made fruit tart with proper Italian coffee, fruit juice etc. They also gave me coffee and biscuits when I arrived. In terms of location, the B&B is set in a beautiful and quiet suburb of Bologna, easily accessible on the bus in around 20 minutes, which runs late into the night and early in the morning, and goes straight to the centre of Bologna and the train station. It is far from any main road and I slept excellently, better than I can remember having slept in a long time! Close to the house there is a grocery shop, as well as a local pizza parlour which does a wide range of tasty and good value pizza. I would have no hesitation in recommending Villa Brizzi, and would give it 5 stars! I hope to return when I am next around Emilia Romagna.
