This was our third year for a one week family vacation at Legacy Lake House. Every year we capture family memories fishing, playing games, stories around the campfire. The Lake House has become a weeklong family event for our children and grandkids that everyone looks forward to. We’ll book again for next year!

We had a small wedding at the house, and I could not imagine a better place to bring family and close friends together. We had blessings from a Bald Eagle, Coyote (across the lake), and a Deer mama gave birth the day of the ceremony. The home and property was very serene and no one wanted to leave! Both family members and friends have plans to come back here in the future.

This is the second family vacation we’ve had at this property and our family loves it. The property is so peaceful, spacious and private. We couldn’t use the lake because of algae this year (couldn’t be helped by the owner) but we still had a lovely time. This property steps back into an early 1980s vibe so it was fabulous for us Gen-Xers! Definitely want to come back again in the future.

The property was as described. Words can’t describe the beauty and off grid experience. We hiked, kayaked, fished & swam. Blackberries were plentiful so we made cobbler & pie while there. We appreciated the experience and will plan another trip there in the future!

Second time staying here. Beautiful lakefront location all to ourselves. We arrived to find a note that the electricity was not working in a large portion of the cabin. Fortunately all major appliances worked, but this was still very inconvenient and affected the quality of our stay. Things happen, and we managed. Very well stocked and generally clean, but lots of bird poop on the front porch and on the chairs around fire pit on both visits. All in all, a great place to get away for a family retreat in a very private location.

My family traveled to Legacy Lake in 3 cars at three different times of the day, so when the car I was in lost reception an hour out from the property and the road became a winding, gravel nightmare that trailed by several abandoned looking properties and didn't come across another single human being for the entire 60 minutes, I started to get really worried I had just booked us a cabin where we all were going to get murdered. When our car finally crested the steep climb into the property and I saw my nieces running towards me with the backdrop of the Oregon mountainside at sunset, fields of beautifully kept rolling hills beneath their feet, my heart sang with both relief and awe. This property is frigging GORGEOUS, it is quite possibly the most beautiful place I have ever been, and my family and my stay was MAGICAL. Be prepared to have very slow internet, virtually unusable if you have multiple devices attempting to connect, and know the protocol for dealing with dangerous wildlife, there are bears and cougars around, though we did not see them directly. We brought walkie talkies to communicate as cellphones don't work anywhere at all there. It is the best equipped rental I have ever stayed in, but as it is an hour drive to groceries, be prepared anyway. It is without a doubt 100% worth the long drive and the lack of internet and civilization, though. My whole family, even the kids, were absolutely enchanted by it's serenity and the closeness we felt to nature.

What an incredible experience. Not only we’re we able to celebrate our special day we made and shared memories that will last a lifetime. Our wedding was better than the fairytales and our time spent with loved ones goes without compare. This cozy home was an amazing place for a family getaway. Plenty of outdoor activities to keep both the adults and children occupied- fishing, kayaking, hiking and picking blackberries along the trails kept us all busy. Well-stocked cabin had everything we needed, including a well-stocked kitchen. Rob was very fast and efficient in handling the only issue we found with the cabin. We would love to return again!

The property is peaceful and super vintage. It’s like you step back into 1980! The only problem we had was that VRBO never sent us check-in information but the host promptly responded with it when we arrived. The drive into Myrtle Point and then up Ash is a SUPER helpful tip. Do not follow the GPS instructions, the forest road up there is sketchy!! Great place!

This was our second stay at this cabin. The setting is truly spectacular, and the property is a great place for folks who love being outdoors. There is lots of wildlife and plenty of trails and old logging roads to explore. The house was clean and the beds were comfortable. The caretaker graciously shared some floats with us to use in the lake. As a previous reviewer noted, the property could use some updating, and we learned that the kayaks that were there the previous year were actually the personal kayaks of the caretakers, so they were unavailable this time. Still, the property is quite lovely, private and peaceful, and we would stay there again.

The family had a great time last year so we booked again this year. Weather was supposed to be so-so but turned out wonderful and this kids were on the lake the whole time. We were sad the kayaks were not there. I think some infusion of cash for upgrades would go a long way. Curtains getting mighty old, dishwasher runs but dishes often still dirty (even with careful rinsing. The dish soap does not even dissolve), and please buy a set of nice cookie sheets. Yours burn the cookies every time they are so flimsy. Boat oars are broken on ends. We love this place and plan to keep returning ..,it’s just time to invest a bit. Thanks for another great year!!!

The property is very beautiful with many opportunities for hikes and outdoor play. The caretakers house is pretty close to the cabin but they were extremely nice and it still felt pretty secluded regardless. The property contact was very helpful and quick to respond. My Husband and I and our two labradors drove our RV up for a nice getaway and it did not disappoint. We enjoyed waking up to the elk herd in the field across the pond, cooking breakfast on our griddle on the front porch, early morning hikes around the pond, midday naps, and evening fires waiting for the geese to return to the pond each evening. It truly is an oasis. We enjoyed kayaking, fishing, and just exploring the property with our dogs who had the most fun. Our labradors quite enjoyed the blackberries and apple orchard on the property. We ended up getting groceries at Safeway in Roseburg and then took advise of others and drove into Myrtle Point before taking GPS directions to the house to avoid the gravel mountain road in our RV. Our 31ft class C motorhome made it up the road with no issues although the road does go down to 1 lane in some areas climbing the mountain. We had to pass the steep entrance to the house on the left and turn around a mile or so down at the fire station parking lot and drive back up to the house entrance as it would have never made the left turn into the mountain with the river on the other side. It's doable in an RV. The only con I can say is that it's advertised that the caretaker lives on property of the vast acres, but it's not obvious that the caretakers house is directly behind the cabin. You can talk from the master bedroom window and they could hear you on their porch. When we arrived the caretakers dogs barked in the house for a consistent 2 hours and could be heard in the cabin and entire yard. As we paid a hefty nightly price to stay for a week this definitely was a disappointment. We finally met the caretaker the next day and he was very nice and helpful, however we were trying to escape society. For the first 2 days the caretaker would walk his dogs on property, if we were outside our dogs would take off to his dogs or his dogs would come meet us on the porch. Again, it was a disappointment because we were seeking solace and privacy and essentially were sharing the property with the caretaker. For a lot of money for a week for seclusion, we expected seclusion. Unfortunately for the caretaker he had to leave on appx. the 3rd day we were there due to an emergency at his home and after that we were satisfied as we felt we finally had the privacy and seclusion we paid for. I would return again but would ask if the caretaker and pets be less visible. Also, bring fly sticky paper, you'll thank me later.

We loved the cabin. We try to do a family gathering every year, and this was the best ever. The best part was the fact that we were by ourselves, on 200+ acres. The lake and fishing were a highlight for all of us. It was so nice to have the two boats and a trolling motor provided. Make sure you do the Wounded Knee Trail for a fabulous view of the cabin. There is an outside chest freezer. The firepit was great, surrounded by awesome rocking chairs and we used the Weber BBQ. Bring your own charcoal. Some suggestions, bring cushions for the boat seats. Floatees for the water, lawn chairs to have at the docks, beach towels. Also, remember, that it is a 45 minute drive to a grocery store, so come stocked and prepared. Fishing is endless for bass. This is the first time that we were able to bring our 4 labs, and it was just amazing to have all of us there, together. We usually play alot of board games, but we were pretty much outside from morning until night, and then we were all in bed by 9pm! We are already talking about our next visit.

The scenery was amazing! It was a very peaceful environment and the hosts were very welcoming and very friendly and helpful. Lots of fishing, hiking and exploring to do and not very far from the coast either. Had a great time and can't wait to get back there again!
