This property was within walking distance of so many downtown spots! From the key code entry to the property handbook, we felt like we had utter freedom to come and go as we pleased from the get-go. It was great having at least two dedicated parking spots in the driveway available to us. The fire pit offered a wonderful place to enjoy an evening of hot cocoa next to the setting sun over the trees and the river. Even though we stayed here October of 2019, it would be an ideal location to kayak or paddle board from in the river. That said, I had the opportunity to take advantage of the trails that run close to the house to go for a morning jog. The ice in the freezer was much appreciated, and the clean white towels were a relief to come home to after a day of walking around town.

Stayed here for 5 days in September. Yes, this place has a great location due to being right on the Deschutes River but its also within walking distance to all kind is restaurants, breweries, bars, shops and the grocery store. Back yard is beautiful with a nice sitting area next o the river. We did not use it much as we were on the go with hiking and MTB activities. The place was clean and well appointed. Good communication with manager. I would consider renting the same place if back in Bend. Construction around the outside of the house was underway but was not active while we were there and was not intrusive.

While we enjoyed our visit to Bend, there was some good and some bad here. The house was clean and ready when we arrived. We liked being on the river. We purchased some tubes and each day would walk upstream about 15 minutes, then float back down to the yard, or down farther to Drake Park--you really can't beat that. Walking downtown or to the Old Mill District was as easy as advertised. Among the downsides: as you can see in the photos, the house is directly next to the bridge across the river to Columbia Park. I initially thought that was an upside, but it turns out that you can hear every foot crunch on the gravel path to the bridge, and the traffic is constant, day and night, especially on the weekend. That might not be a problem if the windows were closed, but the house doesn't have air conditioning. Maybe you don't expect that, but I did--we specifically discussed it when I booked, because of young kids who would have to nap during the hottest part of July. When we arrived it was 86 degrees *inside* the house. (To her credit, the day after we arrived and at my request, the manager installed a portable air conditioning unit that kept the temperature down into the mid/high 70s.) The bridge, as it turns out, is also a good place for some jerks to throw glass bottles into the yard. My sister-in-law and my 8-year-old stepped on broken glass. I spent about two hours picking up shards. Even if you avoid this hazard, you'll have to rake goose poop out of the grass daily. The front door apparently sits wrong in the frame, so the electric lock sometimes does not work. After being locked out for half an hour we eventually figured out that pulling the knob toward you before entering the code allowed the deadbolt to release without getting stuck. The appliances are all quite dated. I didn't care that much about this, but you might. There is no ice maker in the freezer, for example; you'll have to fill the two trays that were in there. There are a couple of couches in the living room, but no lights adjacent to them, so don't plan to sit and read. In the bathrooms there are no toilet paper holders, and no towel racks save the one on the shower door and one hand towel holder on the vanity, both in the master. The master bathroom also had a very weird light switch that nobody could consistently work properly. All in all we had a good time and the house was fine, but I'm not sure whether I'd book it again.
