About this house rental
Beautiful lake views, amazing location, modern, comfortable and peaceful. The perfect lake living while still minutes from town, Cornell and Ithaca College. Watch the sunrise over the lake on the deck. This is a three story home with 3 bedrooms, a bonus room, 2 full baths and and 1/2 bath. Our house has a modern floor plan and beautiful, high-end construction and details. Special features include a stoned faced fireplace, striking wide plank floors, and a modern kitchen with modern appliances. First-floor full bath and guest room. Upstairs you will be delighted with the master suite with more gorgeous lake views. The lower parking area is close to the front door compared to most other West Shore properties. Private lake frontage and dock. Kayaks, Canoe. Fast internet service with wifi, A/C, Washer Dryer, Roku TV, DVD player, gas fireplace, wine cooler.
Reasons to rent this house:
1) The single-family house is directly on Cayuga Lake with amazing views from the deck and dock, near wineries, and also only 5 minutes from downtown Ithaca restaurants and shopping, and less than 15 min. from the colleges.
2) In summer, you can drive close to the front door, no major staircase to the house (as is common on Cayuga Lake). However, you must be able-bodied and sure-footed. There is a path with a series of concrete steps (a total of 21). In winter, we have a new staircase from the road with 52 steps. The house is not appropriate for anyone with walking disabilities (sorry).
3) There are 2.5 bathrooms.
4) Two kayaks on the property, a canoe, private dock.
5) The house is big enough for two families to share. We have 3 bedrooms and a bonus room (with a sleeper sofa), plus a sleeper sofa with memory foam mattress in the living room.
6) Our house is equipped with a high chair, a pack-n-play, an infant bath, and myriad toys, books, and games.
7) We are powered by off-site solar power.
Who Can Rent:
The house is not appropriate for loud/late-night parties. Also, sorry, the house is not handicapped accessible.
All adult guests staying at the house must sign our license agreement and agree to our house rules.
With respect to all Ithaca lakehouses and to enjoy peace and quiet, our property is steep and away from the road. There is a long staircase to the house from the upper driveway with 52 steps. The path from the lower parking is relatively flat. All tenants and guests must be able to navigate the stairs with ease. Unfortunately, it is not handicapped accessible. We do not have a grass yard.
Winter: Our house is a real house that is winterized and you can set the thermostat to whatever is comfortable. We do not always plow or shovel the lower driver in winter. Winter tenants should plan to walk from the upper parking to the house.

This is a beautiful spacious house with truly stunning views of the lake. It's also close to Ithaca and the various parks that have waterfalls worth visiting. There are a LOT of stairs to deal with from the road down to the house, and from the house down to the lake. The owner does make this clear in the listing- but be aware. Overall, we really enjoyed our brief stay there. However, there were a few issues we had with this place that give me pause. First, the driveway from the road down to the house is a real challenge and a bit disconcerting. It's very steep with a sharp curve. We were fortunate to not meet anyone going the opposite way on this narrow driveway (the driveway is shared with other houses). I'm seriously not sure what I would have done if I had needed to back up/down that steep curved driveway. The second issue was the annoyance of being asked to take the garbage out to the road on collection day, even if the garbage was generated by the prior tenant. We generated almost no garbage of our own but still had to deal with a mess left by prior tenants. Finally, I understand being asked to start the dishwasher before we left- that's a common request with short term rentals. However, IMHO being asked to start the bed linens and towels in the washing machine, while not a huge deal, seems like something the owner should be responsible for in a vacation rental. SO, overall a great place (fantastic view!) with a few concerns for others and the host to be aware of.

Wonderful stay! The home was exactly as pictured with stunning views of lake Cayuga as a highlight. Very clean with comfortable furnishings throughout. Favorite space was the spacious deck right outside living room. Carolyn was very responsive.

This house on Cayuga Lake is bright and clean. We usually steer away from pet-friendly places but there was no sign of pets previously in the house. It has great space for two couples or mixed groups. Open living/dining floorplan is comfortable and pretty! You can’t help but be drawn to the windows looking over the lake. One bedroom with full bathroom on first floor, and primary bedroom (plus another bedroom) with full bathroom upstairs, gave each couple their own private space. Beds were comfortable. Multiple decks with tables and chairs to sit outside. We fished off the dock but unfortunately no bites. It was spring - no neighborhood noise- and because it is below the busy road we heard no traffic noise. We are 2 retired couples in our late 60’s, we managed the stairs, slowly but surely! Good location, 5 minutes to Ithaca. We recommend this place and would stay here again.
