About this apartment rental
Aloha from the spectacular North Shore of Kauai, The Garden Island! Our multi-story tropical retreat features a light filled living room/dining and loft with vaulted ceiling, fully appointed kitchen, furnished lanai with outdoor dining, 2 king size beds and 2 en suite bathrooms. This updated condo has been a continuous short term rental for nearly 35 years! Since purchasing in 2012, we continually upgrade and improve it for your comfort and pleasure.
In the living and sleeping areas high velocity fans enhance the soothing trade winds and provide added air removal from all common areas when AC is not required. Spiral stairs take you to the en suite loft. The loft offers a comfortable king bed and a rooftop view of the ocean. Both the ceiling fan and cross ventilation windows magnify our intoxicating tropical breezes.
The condo is decorated in the Tropical/Asian style accessorized with Hawaiian print fabrics. The sleeper sofa features a Queen size innerspring mattress. We provide a LG TV in living area and Roku in the master suite. In addition, we offer free WiFi from Spectrum for your electronics. The dining area is furnished with a glass topped table and four armchairs. Youʻll also find a roomy table for 6 on the lanai. Itʻs the perfect place to enjoy breakfast.
The kitchen features full size appliances, including a super quiet dishwasher, 5 burner stove, French door refrigerator with ice maker in freezer, plus a large microwave over the stove. Small appliances include a toaster, coffee grinder with drip coffeemaker, electric kettle, rice cooker, hand mixer, and a blender. You will have all the dishes, glassware, flatware and other kitchen cooking supplies you require to prepare meals. For added convenience we also provide large capacity LG stacked washer and dryer, plus an iron and full size ironing board.
Our lanai offers views of lush tropical plantings and the beautifully maintained Princeville neighborhood backed by the Pacific Ocean! Come and enjoy the famous, spectacular sunsets of Kauai! You can eat meals on the lanai with a distant view of the ocean. We also provide roomy wooden rockers to enjoy a lazy lounge while you rehydrate from adventures, shopping or enjoying the many beautiful area beaches!
The airy Master suite contains a King size bed with fresh linens and an ever-changing bed cover. For relaxation we offer a ROKU TV and internet. You will discover a closet with ample beach Hawaiian gear.
The vanity is adjacent to the Master bedroom. The en suite Master bathroom features a custom built, Roman bathtub/shower combination suitable for sharing. Above the vanity you will find a second AC outlet,
For your convenience, we supply starter paper items, laundry and dish soaps, shower and hair supplies. In the pantry youʻll also find spices.
Trade winds and fans are standard cooling systems. Our high velocity fans move vast quantities of fresh air throughout the condo if you choose. We can usually count on cooling at night to make sleeping very comfortable. We supply blankets and additional fans for extreme temperatures.
Sandpiper Village is nestled on several acres of paradise in Princeville. The grounds are beautifully maintained with lush, established tropical plantings. You may recognize our sign from the George Clooney movie, “The Descendents.” The complex has a well-maintained enclosed pool area with a hot tub. Feel free to barbeque in this area using the available Weber gas grills. You will also find tables and chairs and plenty of comfortable loungers surrounding the pool.
Sandpiper Village is close to the Princeville Shopping Center, restaurants, jogging path and two golf courses. Several beautiful beaches are only a short drive away.
Local streaming Community Radio station, 90.9 KKCR, plays Hawaiian music overnight and often during the day. There's a great variety of talk shows and "DJ choice" music programming beginning at 7am. Something for nearly everyone! Bluegrass to Bach/ Grateful Dead to Gary Clark, Jr./ Hillbilly to Amy Hanaiali'i/ Jazz to Jawaiian. All ages of volunteer DJ's. Listen to it online when you return home!
Check-in time is after 4 pm and check out is before 10 am. The maximum number of guests for this unit is five (5).
We do not reserve without payment. Please be aware that we book with the first person who makes a firm commitment by paying!
Deposit update:
Due to the excessive number of stains caused by AVOBENZONE and OXYBENZONE, in nearly ALL sunscreen sold at Costco and local stores, and in some skin care products used at night, we are warning in advance that we will charge for stained/bleached linens. Some stains are activated by water and only appear after washing linens.
*Deposit will not be returned if we find sand in any the washer, dryer (or refrigerator)! Shake it out, wipe and rinse it off in the parking lot or beach shower, before you enter the condo! Our sand is coarsely ground coral. It destroys the washer and dryer. Please don't put unwashed beach towels in the dryer!
For those parties larger than 5, we offer the adjoining "lock out" unit for a combined rental. (Think side by side hotel rooms.) This works great for a group or if you desire more privacy in a small group. You gain another full bathroom and lanai with full size refrigerator, as well a sleeping area with King bed and Smart TV. Youʻll have a total of 3 king beds plus a queen sleeper sofa with an incredibly comfortable innerspring mattress. Please see VRBO listing #619266 to see the adjoining unit. We adjust the price when units are rented together.

Overall, the condo was quiet and clean. Even the lanai floor was very clean. The bed was comfortable and the shower was hot and had decent pressure. The unit had lots of windows to allow in the breezes. They were all opened when we arrived. The breezes however, died down and it was a bit too hot. So, we closed the windows and used the a/c. That also helped keep the noise down when an occasional car went by on the nearby road.The fridge had been stocked with some Cokes and some cold water and glasses. The kitchen was well supplied, but could have had a pizza pan and an actual bottle opener. Appliances seemed newer and worked well.The view from the lanai had a peekaboo view of the ocean, but you mostly saw the other homes in the quiet, nicely landscaped neighborhood.We had an assigned parking spot that was just steps from the condo.The internet speed was fairly good at 110 MBPS.The shared pool area was very nice and quiet. It was nicely landscaped. There were high quality chaise lounge chairs that lay flat. There were also a number of umbrellas and small tables. There were clean restrooms in the pool area. The pool is sunny most of the day.You needed to use a key to get in AND out of the pool area. It would be nice to be able to leave without using a key.The one issue we had was the sliding, glass door to the lanai – it was very difficult to open and close. Definitely would return.

When we booked our stay we found that if we added a day the airfare dropped considerably. I messaged the owner to see if would be possible to add a day to our stay. They said they would check on it. After 1 1/2 weeks I sent a friendly message to see if the day was available or if we should make other plans for the one day. No response. I tried again 2 1/2 weeks later. No response. A simple no would have made things easier for us. I never heard from the owner until months later, when we were in Kauai. It was unnecessarily stressful.
