El Yunque beautiful villa, Rio Grande, Puerto Rico

Staying at this villa was a bit more adventurous than expected - however, the amazing location and incredible views made the experience. The bedrooms were very comfortable (except when the roof leaked) and the villa overall has plenty of space for people to enjoy. Some reviews state that the kitchen needs "updates," which seems understated. The appliances all function and the kitchen is stocked with the basics. It meets basic needs but doors are falling off, drawers falling out, etc. The hot water situation is also rustic with an extremely loud pump system just off the kitchen that runs periodically and inconsistent hot water to the showers. I wish I had paid attention to the Laundry description in the listing. There is no washer and no dryer. This proved to be difficult to work around given the remote location and humidity. The villa was clean overall but furnishings are dated. Overall, the experience of living in El Yunque for a week was amazing - with coqui serenading and the most lovely sunsets you can imagine. However you should be prepared for rustic living and some inconveniences.

Loved the space and the view and the privacy. Showing it's age and the internet and TV do not work, but that's not why we went there. Access to El Yunque was easy and not far from San Juan.

To start off the house was very nice. I was upset to not be informed that there was "street cat". Myself and my daughter are very allergic to cats. We was greeted by a cat that was hanging out by the pool. You can tell that this cat was being said there was a plate and bowl for water. The first evening my daughter I had got a bad allergic reaction her eyes filled up shut I messaged the property owner and call as well was trying to make another Arrangement as for my family too possibly stay somewhere else. The lady of the property only try to convince me that it was not their cats it was a street cat and it don't belong there but you can obviously tell this cat I wasn't going nowhere. Unfortunately with my budget and not being a logo of Puerto Rico we stayed but it was very hectic because you can tell in the house it smelled like cat and there was also hair on a furniture. The one bedroom with the view of the pool was very big yes what concerned me was there was no privacy. I noticed there was a camera in the pool area that face directly in the room and pass the pool. I do not find curtains I did find blind but I couldn't get it up to stay put. It was nerve-wracking to feel as if I was being watched and the entrance to the pool and also the rest of the house from the bedroom I know privacy. Also what was noticed is that there was a leak in the bathroom of the same bedroom I did trip and fall luckily I did not get very hurt so I did not complain. But there is a heavy leak due to the rain all the time you are in a rainforest. And there was also another puddle of water in the kitchen couldn't figure out where it was coming from why it was there but it was gross to step in this puddle every time trying to move in the kitchen. The TV in the one bedroom I believe the only bedroom that has a TV it did not work.
