Genthong Homestay

The property itself is small, cosy and has a very personal feel. The staff were kind and welcoming, and the location is excellent: Borobudur is so close.

I am genuinely sorry to leave this feedback because the place is small, cosy and welcoming. Unfortunately, I was unable to get a proper night’s sleep. The rooster started crowing at around 4 a.m. and kept me drifting in and out of sleep, although with earplugs the noise was still bearable. At around 5 a.m., however, the call to prayer began through nearby loudspeakers at an extremely high volume, and even with earplugs I could no longer sleep. I have stayed in many Muslim-majority areas and have never had any problem with the call to prayer itself. Here, the issue was simply the intensity and proximity of the amplification, which made it feel as though the loudspeakers were right beside the room. I understand that this may not be entirely within the property’s control, but since the main purpose of booking a room is to be able to rest, the lack of sleep unfortunately left me exhausted and affected the following day. I say this with regret, because otherwise I found the accommodation pleasant and cosy.

The location is close to Candi Borobudur. It is very easy to reach Candi Borobudur for just 10 minutes,

The place for drink is quite far from the room. The facilities for drink should be place in every room.

Tomo (the host) is absolutely fantastic!! Position is also great.

The room and bath - both are clean. Not small size. Asked for iron and got it

No toiletries provided. Had to skip the shower for the day, as our arrival is late and nothing in the bath room to shower nicely. No bottle of water provided in the room, had to go to kitchen for self pick up of drinking water from there.
