We bought this beautiful apartment after spending four years renting in the area. Villefranche is a unique paradise on the French Riviera because of its small-town, friendly ambiance so close to the wonderful city of Nice, and close access to Monaco, Antibes and Cannes.

Our location is ideal, offering spectacular views and unusual quiet in a sought after, old-town location. The Institut de Francais is within walking distance, as is the beach, all shops and restaurants, and very easy access to car, bus and train (just one block from the Place de la Paix,)

The apartment has been perfectly renovated to take advantage of its charming duplex layout, and offers a bedroom, dining area and living room with comfortable sofa, two full baths, full kitchen and a washer/dryer. There is a large flat-screen TV with free access to French channels, Dc player, and telephone with free calls throughout Europe and the US.

We loved staying in Villefranche , at Russell’s lovely apartment ! It was quiet, comfortable and had everything that we needed for 4 days. Russell communicated with me prior to the trip and after our arrival. We had the pleasure to meet Russell’s father, Jean Paul, who lives in the village. Jean Paul was sweet, friendly and so helpful ! Jean Paul recommended that we eat at Lou Bantry . It was our favorite restaurant in Villefranche. We went to Saint Paul de Vence one day on the train and bus. It is a gorgeous village. Get ready to walk a lot of steps in Villefranche:) Villefranche is close to many other beautiful places in the French Riviera that you can access by train for day trips ! Unfortunately the water was too cold to swim in for us in November. Hopefully we will be able to return some summer for another great vacation in Villefranche ! Merci beaucoup Russell and Jean Paul !

Russell’s apartment is perfectly situated in the old part of town yet close to bus stops that can take you to Nice, Monaco, Menton…It is a very nice apartment with modern conveniences, including AC.There is a steep stairway so I would not recommend it for those who have mobility challenges.

The views are amazing from almost every window. The location is close to everything but not in the middle of the tourist area. The host is friendly and he and his dad gave us great tips for restaurants and hikes and made us feel so welcome. Yes, there are steps...but there are steps everywhere in town, so really not a big deal. Truly, I cannot say enough good things about this place! Thanks, Russell and Jean Paul. Look us up when you come to the US.

This apartment is convenient for exploring all the towns on the French Riviera by train or bus. The view is even more panoramic than the listing photo. The apartment has new top end appliances and a very comfortable bed. It is well equipped for cooking. We cooked most meals because the butcher store, market and bakery were so close. But we also ate out at several of the excellent local restaurants. The two bathrooms were a nice extra with bath fixtures in perfect condition. The location is quiet. We really enjoyed the easy access to the beach. Russell was very easy to reach to answer any questions and his father Jean-Paul was very helpful too. Villefranche-sur-mer is a hilly town so expect steep steps around town and getting into the apartment. We stayed for 18 nights in April 2025 and it felt like home.

Everything was promptly handled by the owner, Russell from the moment we booked. Russell met us at checkin and even carried our luggage up to the flat! He went above and beyond looking after us for the month we stayed with him. We cooked in the kitchen and many nights had charcuterie at the window overlooking the bay. Villefranche is a perfect location to travel into Italy or Cannes and Antibes for the day by train or bus. It was a dream place to stay. A big thanks to Jean Paul and his welcoming us to Saturday Boules with other English speakers. We would love to come back.

Our stay in Russell’s apartment was for almost 3 months. First and foremost I have to say the hosts went way above and beyond. In addition to Russell, we were fortunate that his father happened to be in town during our stay and he went out of his way to not only make sure we were comfortable and set in the apartment but also brought us into the community. He toured us around the Cote d Azure and provided us with so much local knowledge. Both Russell and his father were incredibly responsive to anything we needed. As for the apartment itself, it was wonderful. The view across the bay every morning when I got up is an image permanently etched in my memories. The apartment is ideally located in Old Town with many nearby restaurants and a 10 minute picturesque stroll to the nicest beach in the region. Yes, there are stairs. But the entire region is hilly so if you aren’t comfortable negotiating uphill and downhill terrain, this region may not be right for you. We are in our 60’s and had no trouble with the stairs however we were sure glad to have help with our luggage on arrival. Overall, I cannot speak highly enough about what great hosts Russell and his father were and what a perfect location and apartment this is for a base camp to explore the Cote d Azur.

Excellent location in quiet street with easy access for Uber drop off. Wonderful seaside view with two levels/bathrooms for privacy. Owner extremely helpful and on hand when we arrived/departed with restaurant advice, etc. Two flights of stairs to flat with another flight within flat, no lift. Area bus stop for Nice/Beaulieu 10’ walk. Interior recently renovated with modern WC’s. No question I would gladly stay here again.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay in this really well located and quiet apartment. Before, during and after our stay, I Russell was very helpful and informative. He met us at the apartment and walked us thru everything we could possibly need to know. We loved our happy hours, sitting at the big window in front of the dining table with a light breeze and beautiful view of the sea. We had no issue with the steep stairs but if you have mobility issues, this may not be a good place for you. Otherwise, we would highly recommend.

We are in our mid-sixties, and the apartment, while perfectly fine, was difficult for us to navigate. Stairs from the street to the apartment are steep and narrow. We could not have made it up or down with our luggage on our own. Russell helped when we arrived and we paid one of Russell's neighbors to help us when we left. Even without luggage the stairs were a chore. Once in the apartment there is another stairway to the bedroom; also not easy. Villefranche is lovely but vertical, and there are no lifts. There is one private beach club, which you need to book in advance. Les Garcons is a wonderful restaurant.

The property was central, but quiet, and felt very secure (important to me as a single parent of a young child). Check in was easy and the space was clean and welcoming. Russell provided everything we needed and was friendly and helpful. The view was magnificent and the laundry and dishwasher were huge added bonuses! I can’t wait to come back! Great place to be fully immersed in the beautiful seaside town of Villefranche. Property management/ownership was super attentive and helpful. Wonderful upstairs bedroom with beautiful skylights to breathe in the ocean breeze and hear the church bells ring. Place itself is light and breezy and husband reported that the pull out couch was pretty comfortable. Location is steps away from great restaurants and the port. Parking is sort of a disaster (generally speaking) and for anyone with mobility issues (like my husband), the entry stairs and vertical layout of the entire town make for a tough experience. So long as that’s not a problem, you’re sure to love the place and the village.

This property is a must stay! The property is located in charming, peaceful, heavenly VILLEFRANCHE. The owners went out of their way daily to ensure a wonderful stay. They met me at check-in, carried my overweight bags, left me with supplies upon arrival — juice, wine, cheese, loaf of bread — i felt like I was staying and visiting with my family. The apartment is beautifully appointed with spectacular views of the sea. Bedroom is cozy and comfortable with beautiful bedding and good sized closet. This apartment and its owners are a 10 plus plus and will treat you like gold.

I stayed in this cute flat for a month whilst attending the language institute. I found the location to be absolutely perfect- close to the port and all the great restaurants and shops of old town and an easy walk to school. Audrey, who met me at check-in, couldn't have been nicer and very responsive to any inquiry. I really enjoyed my stay at "my home away from home" and am looking forward to coming back!

This beautiful apt is even better than the pictures. There is a big window with a view of the sea and the church. It is spotlessly clean, quiet, convenient, and tastefully decorated. Having two full bathrooms is a major plus. We used the bakery almost every day and also bought at the butcher shop. Couldn’t have had a better time.

Can’t say enough good things about this place. Everything is just what you would want. The artwork is beautiful, the layout attractive and functional, the window view of the sea is perfect! And the stairs are doable. My husband and I, aged 68 and 71 handled that fine. We are in fairly good shape, but nothing extraordinary.

We loved our time in the apartment- location great, spotlessly clean and it has obviously been renovated recently to a high specification. Absolutely wonderful view over the bay. The famous steps were fine for us and our daughters (12 and 14) although would be tough for the very old, the very young or the very unfit. Faultless communication throughout the process. Loved the Lenny Breau CD too.

My entire experience was fabulous. Monique, the property manager went out of her way to accommodate me. She even picked me up at the train station! I read previous reviews so I was prepared for the steep stairs. It’s not that bad. Good exercise! The amenities were top notch. Plenty of coffee, toilet paper, soap, fluffy towels - even wash clothes! You never find a washcloths in Europe! The sheets were silky soft and smooth plus plush pillows galore. My only criticism is that it was unusually hot and all I had was a tower fan. No AC. But, the apartment was so charming and perfectly situated that the lack of AC would not be a deal breaker to rent it again. Villefranche is an easy, relaxing beach town. The bright lights and big cities are a quick and convenient train ride away.

We stayed here for 10 days in May-June, 2019. This property was beautiful, clean, perfectly situated, and ideal for two people. It is within walking distance of the Villefranche-sur-mer beach and restaurants, all of Cap Ferrat and Beaulieu, and Nice. However, it was situated on a quiet street, away from the crowds and traffic. Probably the most ideal location from which to explore the Riviera. The apartment had all the supplies we needed, including a much appreciated dishwasher, espresso machine, and coffee machine. Monique was a gracious and very helpful property manager and host. We will be back!

The apartment is charming, quiet, and convenient to everything VsM has to offer, but the steep and narrow 24 stairs to access it are challenging and not for the fearful, fat, or over fifty! Then there is the additional 12 step ascent to the bedroom, which is also charming but offers many opportunities for hitting one’s head on beams and pipes. Once the luggage is situated, and before the final descent with same, all is well! The view and the lovely sea air coming thru the windows is fantastic. There were a few minor housekeeping issues: scarcity of tissues and paper towels with no replacements, and previously used bars of soap, but in general, the apartment was clean and well maintained. Monique was friendly and helpful and responded readily to text messages but not to emails, so be sure you have a working iPhone with you! I highly recommended this property to anyone young and fit but would caution those with balance or climbing issues. The streets of VsM are exercise and challenge enough! Wish we had found this place 10 years ago!

We stayed for three nights in Villefranche-sur-Mer and absolutely loved it! The view from the kitchen window of the water was beautiful and we loved the bell chiming from the church steeple. The apartment was located close to the bakery, food shops, train, restaurants and beach. Everything that we needed was either in the apartment or easily within walking distance. We are already planning our next France adventure in the near future!

Excellent property with a lovely view and all you could need for your stay. The property was in a lovely quiet spot in the old town but still close to all the amenities. We used the train to travel miles, the station was very near to the apartment and the staff there very helpful when it came to buying a week long pass. Although we were very happy with the property anyone with mobility problems should be aware that the access steps are quite steep.

Our family of 4 stayed here for 5 nights and our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. The apartment itself is beautiful - a rare gem that looks as nice in person as it does in the photos. It is well appointed, spotlessly clean, and has a gorgeous view of the water and Cap Ferrat. The location is perfect, right in the heart of the medieval old town and steps from many shops and restaurants. A quick walk to the train station gives easy access to the entire Cote d'Azur. We explored cities and villages up and down the coast, and as nice as they were, we didn't find any as lovely or charming as Villefranche-Sur-Mer. Finally, Monique was extremely warm and helpful at both check-in and check-out.

Had a really lovely stay in this apartment last week. Great location for sightseeing in the South of France. Short walk to a great selection of restaurants too. Everything you needed was here-washing up liquid, soap, laundry powder, towels etc. We hired a car but it was quite hard to park near the apartment so would recommend public transport if you can. Not suitable for people with mobility problems due to the very steep stairs up to the property but we were already aware of this! Thank you 😊
