Gracious host. Excellent location near restaurants. Renowned wineries and chateaus nearby. Home was well appointed and comfortable.

Stayed 3 nights in the small river town of Bléré. It is close to several attractions and chateaus. Plenty to do in Bléré with the outdoor cafés or a walk along Le Cher River. Had great communication with Dominique, the owner, before and during the stay. She showed everything in the house and made fabulous recommendations on restaurants, butcher, baker and the best way to bicycle to Chateau de Chenonceau. There are 2 full bedrooms upstairs such that a family of 5 can stay comfortably. The front courtyard is spacious with ample seating for a glass of wine in the evening. There is a reserved parking space for the car just outside the courtyard. The house is in the middle of the charming small town, meaning close walking distance to everything, but also in a quiet little town. Would definitely stay here again!

Excellent Blere location
Perfectly located home for Loire stay. Had everything we needed for wonderfully comfortable Blere stay.

Lovely cottage in Loire Valley, close to local amenities including bakery, butchers and supermarkets. Included some restaurants and bars/cafes. Cottage had everything we needed for out 10 night stay. Old cobbled courtyard which provided a secluded outdoor space which meant we sat out to eat most evenings. Bonus of having off street parking. Short walk away was River Cher, which had great cycle routes and was able to do some runs. Lovely welcome package of wine, baguette and pate. Dominique was very welcoming and on hand if we needed anything. Visited chateauxs and even had a day trip to Paris from Tours. Overall a fantastic holiday and brought some nice locsl wine and fizz back with us from Le Caves Du Pierre Auguste.

Nice place, very convenient for town and exploring.
The property is a two bedroomed detached house with a small courtyard which is situated next door to its owner, Dominique, who was readily available when needed. It had everything we needed (and more). It was cool inside downstairs which was a boon in the very hot weather which we experienced. It was quite warm upstairs but benefitted from having fans in the bedrooms. It is located in a quiet area within easy walking distance of the picturesque town and lovely River Cher. There are a small number of restaurants in the town and plenty more further afield. Staff in the tourist information office are very helpful.

We had a great time in Blere.
We really enjoyed our stay. The house is very liveable and has all a person needs for a comfortable stay. Kitchen is small but has everything a person needs. Bedrooms are large with very comfortable beds and lots of linen. Having 2 bathrooms is nice. Internet only available in the front of the house and sometimes dropped but usually worked all right. Blere is very central to chateaus, vineyards etc. Bakery, butcher, cheese and pastry all within a block of the house. Would not hesitate to stay there again. Dominique is very helpful. Helped us arrange bikes which were delivered to the house. Would highly recommend renting bikes. All in all a great stay.

Nice property, super location, designated parking place for our rental car.
Dominique Guillemot, owner, lives nextdoor. Dominique provided helpful info about Blere, shopping, visiting chateaus, good places to eat. Blere is the perfect place to stay - everything (banks, bakeries, butchers, grocery stores, etc.) is a 5 minute walk for the property. Not many tourists in this town. We enjoyed going out for fresh bread and bakery items every morning. We forgot one of our IPADs when we departed at the end of the week stay. Dominique knew we were going to stop at a museum in Amboise on the trip to Paris. She drove to Ambiose to make sure we had the missing IPAD.
We would stay here again.

Lovely visit in a quaint town and a well appointed home.
Our family had a very pleasant time in the Loire-Cher area staying at this carriage house in Blere. The location is lovely. Our host was welcoming and helpful and the home was clean and had everything we needed. The only thing that I would recommend improving is the internet signal, which doesn't reach some of the rooms.

Very comfortable cottage in the heart of chateaux country
This villa is very comfortable and convenient. Dominique is a helpful host who speaks English very well and can guide you in your chateau and winery choices. The kitchen is very well furnished and the beds comfortable. Please note the 2 bedrooms are upstairs with one bath up and one bath down, both with showers. There is a washing machine and products to use for laundry. We really enjoyed the private courtyard with seating and the off-street parking. The village has all you need including banks, bakeries and grocery in walking distance. The town is located on the Cher river with walking/biking paths very nearby. We will definitely return to this property.

Charming home in Blere
We recently stayed in this charming home in Blere for 4 nights. We enjoyed our stay and the home was very well stocked with everything we could need and very clean. Dominique was very accomodating and even picked us up in Tours after we had to return our car early. It was a great location for visiting the chateaus and the beautiful towns of the Loire. We would definitely recommend this house to friends and family.

Great location for visiting Loire chateaux
We very much enjoyed our stay at the Chevalerie. We found that the property matched the listing description. It was clean, well-maintained and spacious for our family of four (two adults and two children, aged 12 and 10). We found it to be very quiet -- we didn't hear any road noise. We were able to use one of the two parking spaces adjacent to the property that the hosts reserve for their guests.
The kitchen is small and is minimally equipped (I'd recommend bringing a sharp knife or two from home if you plan to cook), but we knew from the listing what to expect. We weren't planning to prepare meals from scratch during our visit, and the kitchen was fine for reheating foods from the wonderful boucherie one block over. It met our needs for our stay. Everything was in good working order.
The bedrooms were cheerfully decorated and spacious, and the beds were comfortable.
One evening we went for a lovely stroll along the river, which is just a 5-minute walk from the property. We watched some fly fishermen fishing in the river and saw a number of families enjoying a riverside playground.
The property made an excellent home base for our excursions to several of the chateaux in the region. When we were visiting in May, we felt like we were the only tourists staying in Bléré (unlike the chateaux, which were packed with visitors like us). We loved being able to walk down the street to the boulangerie for our morning baguettes and to the boucherie. By the end of our four-day stay, I was starting to feel almost like a local at the shops (aside from my terrible French accent, of course!). Staying at the Chevalerie gave us a nice taste of small-town life in France.
We would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for a comfortable, quiet home base from which to explore the Loire Valley.

Four Australian seniors
This property is in an excellent position to visit the many Chateaux and wineries in this area. The cottage is very comfortable for two couples with two bathrooms and very spacious bedrooms with comfortable beds. The stairs could be a problem for less able people. The courtyard is a delight on warm evenings. To be able to walk to the village in two minutes for banking, fresh bread and meals is perfect. Car parking is available off street. The owner is next door and very helpful welcoming us with a bottle of local wine. We had a most enjoyable comfortable stay.

Loire Valley Vacation
My husband and I (60's) and our son and daughter-in-law (30's) appreciated having 2 bathrooms. The property was very well maintained and as advertised. The owner was very helpful with recommendations for meals and shopping and we loved being greeted with a jar of apricot jam. We spent a week with the village as home base and with excursions to see the chateaux each day. We walked out to one of the excellent boulangers each morning, found a pleasant small restaurant for dinner and an outstanding boucherie for picnic supplies. There is a lovely path along the Cher for evening walks. I would definitely return and spend more time just enjoying the property!

Great stay
My wife and I had a very enjoyable stay in the cottage. The house is as described and Blere is a very good base for exploring the medieval towns and chateau in the surrounding areas. It has excellent food shops and Dominique was an excellent host, giving suggestions on touring and eating.

Excellent location for chateau visits
Our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children age 6 and 11) stayed in La Chevalerie for 5 nights in June 2013. We were met by Dominique at the door, and she was very helpful with explanations and suggestions. The cottage suited us well, and had most things we needed, such as washing machine, microwave, dishwasher, and all necessary utensils. In some ways the property is a bit quirky, but that added to the fun. The photos on the website represented it well. Blere is a good town as a base for exploring the region. It has a few restaurants, a good supermarket. The cottage was quiet, yet right in the middle of town. Our hosts (nect door) were accommodating, and even allowed us to use their computer when we had trouble with ours. Inside la Chevalerie is a steep staircase, which might not suit elderly people. Having 2 bathrooms was a real plus. Overall I would recommend staying there for a family like ours exploring chateau country. Also, Dominique speakes very good English.

Very comfortable and quaint
Our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids, aged 13 and 15) stayed at La Chevalerie for 5 nights on our recent holiday in France. The property was very comfortable, with 2 good sized bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, and a spacious living area, although the kitchen was quite small. The location was fantastic - very central to many sights in the Loire Valley, and we spent a lovely day riding bikes around Blere and to Chateaux de Chenonceau. We also swam in the local public pool, a short walk from La Chevalerie. There was a good boulangerie nearby as well as a couple of supermarches in walking distance as well. The only parking for this property is on the street, but it was not difficult to find a spot each day. La Chevalerie is a nice, private, quiet place to stay that is recommended for anyone exploring the Loire Valley.

Perfect in Every Way
What a delightful surprise to find not only the charm of a historic Carriage House AND modern comfort as well. It's located in the center of Blere a charming historic town, yet totally private with it's own courtyard.
My husband and I enjoyed the luxury of a very spacious house and warm furnishings.
A family could easily enjoy a good measure of privacy here with room to play.
We'd enthusiastically recommend this listing for numerous reasons. We loved the house, the historic town, our hosts, numerous, delicious restaurants, and proximity to most chateaux, Chenonceau, the crown jewel of the Loire is very close by. The outdoor markets featured numerous stands with friendly vendors selling their local fare. We regaled in the season's new white asparagus, and scurried back to our Carriage House with the bounty of the market...roasted chicken, white asparagus, sausages, salads, wine, and cheese! oh the cheese! Fabulous! A spring lunch on our private terrace was definitely a highlight of our stay. Dominique, our charming hostess next door, was generous with her knowledge of the history of the environs and shared the secrets of out of the way places that would not otherwise be known to travelers. We felt like locals. French for a week! We're already making plans for a return visit. Thanks Dominique, for helping make our stay memorable!

Angenehmes Haus in französischer Kleinstadt

perfect base for a holiday in the Loire region
We are a Family with boys aged 9 and 11 and we spend a perfect week in july, visiting castles, fishing in the river, enjoying the sights of the area. The house is old and has its own personality, but there is everything you could wish for and a courtyard, perfect for eating outside, drying clothes, playing ball etc.The owner is helpfull in any way you can think off, and the village has excellent bakers, restaurants and a large supermarked.
