Open the front door to discover the surprise of an art-filled retreat — cozy, airy and visually stunning. Perched on the flank of Cambria’s Park Hill, this light-filled refuge is close enough to the ocean that you can see and hear the distant waves crashing on Moonstone Beach. You are just up from Shamel Park, a few blocks from the expansive trails of Fiscalini Ranch and a 15-minute walk from the shops and restaurants of West Village. This home is ideal for a romantic weekend for two, a solo writing retreat, or a fun getaway for family and friends. The open-plan house is surrounded by green space on all sides, making it a quiet refuge with views of the ocean, pine trees, and coastal hills through the many windows. You can also see a huge expanse of stars through oversized skylights. The large deck is perfect for morning tea, afternoon reading or sunset viewing after a day of wine tasting in nearby Paso Robles or a tour of Hearst Castle in San Simeon. Each of the two small bedrooms has a queen bed and bathroom/shower. Two comfy air mattresses with linens are also available. The house is equipped with a well-stocked kitchen, a nice upright piano, WiFi, Smart Tv, many books and a stereo. This property is pet-friendly. Steep Driveway. Place was clean, in a good location close to the ocean. Kitchen looked recently renovated. I could have done without all the wooden masks on the walls as decor. The deck was large and appeared to have a great view.I cannot comment much more, as I didn't sleep there and only spent about 2 hours there total, although I reserved for 5 nights. I had an emergency and returned home the same night as I arrived…. bummer.

We fell in love with Ampersand the moment we arrived. The view of the ocean as soon as we entered was amazing and we knew this was a great house. We came from Christmas Market, which is an experience of its own. The house came with great accommodations. Baths are updated and the heater works very quickly. Kitchen comes with all the small appliances you need. The house decor is very eclectic with many different pieces of art and cozy furniture. The only downfall is that the mattress in the master is smaller than the bed frame and we hit our shins on the bed frame each time we got in bed. But we loved our stay and plan to return soon.

We found Ampersand to be a peaceful getaway for us. The weather was spectacular, the scenery beautiful, the house was comfortable and met our needs. We saw deer and turkeys on a daily basis as we enjoyed long walks. Being close to town was an added bonus. We would definitely come back! Our only complaint was there was a lot of construction noise as many neighbors were having work done on their houses. Also, we would recommend some nice blankets to use on the deck. Thanks for the opportunity to enjoy this home in Cambria!

The location and ocean view from the deck were stunning😎 The sky at night was beautiful! Lots of birds and wildlife. The beds were okay, kitchen well equipped! Our only comments would be way two many personal items left on the property including a piano. We would recommend limiting the personal items and situating the living room taking in the view with a nice flat screen tv. Still a great stsy😎

The property was very clean, but even though we had seen the pictures we did not realize how cluttered it was until we actually got there. Knick knacks and pictures everywhere. It felt like we were staying in a clean hoarder’s house. The queen mattress on the king bed frame left us both with a few shin bruises when getting in bed. We can say the kitchen was well stocked and, again, the house was clean. But way too claustrophobic for us.

We loved everything about this property, from contact-less check in to all the details in the house to the easy check out. The only caveat at all is the very steep, short driveway; no issues, but my wife let me park the cars, haha.

This lovely home was absolutely wonderful for my husband and I and our two dogs! It was very comfortably and the location was great . Easy walk or drive to the beach/ocean and the view from the windows and balcony of the ocean was delightful. A very pleasant surprise was waking up in the middle of the night to see the stars! It was breathtaking. I would highly recommend this property and we can not wait to return!

This house is perched over trees and a beautiful view of the ocean. Even better is the view of the night sky from the large windows in every room. It is extremely clean and comfortable. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is a beautiful, art filled home, to relax in. Large windows and sky lights flood the house with natural light. In addition to seeing the waves breaking in the distance, we watched birds and deer daily through the windows. For those who enjoy cooking their own meals, the kitchen is well supplied. The beds in both rooms are more than comfortable and the furnishings in the master are beautifully appointed, the adjoining master shower is huge. Although the "guest" shower is somewhat smaller, it is no less generous and ample.
One note to mention is the driveway is rather steep and difficult to back out of.
Otherwise, this is a rental we cannot wait to return to.

This was our first getaway in years, and we decided to take advantage of our son's fall break to enjoy ourselves. The house is in a great location, with a beautiful view and well maintained interior. We appreciated how well stocked the supplies were, and the beds were very comfortable to climb into at the end of the day. Literally our only (minor) complaints would be the super soft water pressure, and that the windows facing the water in the bedrooms didn't have screens. I imagine they made that choice intentionally to preserve the view, though.

I booked this house because of its proximity to a location where the rest of my family was staying for a birthday celebration. I wanted my own space, quiet, and privacy, but to be close enough to be able to walk over to their place. I would absolutely stay here again. I loved all of the windows and skylights for tons of natural lighting, the bed and linens were super comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked, the views were great with empty lots on all three sides, making it feel spacious and more private. And I loved the eclectic collection of art and books! This really felt like the vacation home of an interesting, intelligent, well-traveled person and not something soulless with hotel-quality decor. I loved seeing the stars at night in bed, thanks to the skylight in the bedroom I used. I also liked being able to hear the sound of the ocean waves, too. I'd recommend it for couples or two friends, only because the available space for dining isn't very large. That was no issue for me staying here on my own, though. The driveway was a little challenging but thankfully there wasn't much traffic on the road to hinder me from getting my car out when I needed to. The next time I plan a trip to Cambria, I will definitely check if this property is available.

We loved our extended stay in this super cozy house in Cambria! The house is very comfortable and the kitchen is extremely well stocked. Tons of sunlight throughout the house, and what a joy to keep the windows/doors open to feel all the ocean breezes. We loved seeing all the birds right out the windows as well as the adorable family of deer that live on the hill below the house. This house feels totally private, and the views are fantastic. We enjoyed many spectacular sunsets! Our most favorite thing about Cambria is Fiscalini Ranch Preserve, which is just a few minutes’ walk from the house. What a dreamlike place this preserve is, and it’s a real bonus that the house is so close to it!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our 3 day stay at Ampersand. Great location, especially if you enjoy walking/hiking, which we do. Fiscalini Preserve, Moonstone Beach and the town all accessible by foot. Property is very well maintained, with loads of windows and skylights making it very bright. Wonderful (small) deck with great views. With 2 bedrooms (and baths!) it can accommodate 4 but it's not really set up for communal eating for more than 2 at the kitchen island and 2 at a small table. It was perfect for us though. Would absolutely return!
