Not sure if hospitality is central for this business

Not impressed

The photos of the exterior do not capture current reality. The place looked tired to the point we did wonder if the business had closed down since I made the booking. Peeling paint, crossing out of facilities available on the notice board, weeds, algae covered steps and garden seats. Utterly no curb appeal. Once we gained entry into the B&B our stay was navigated by a forest of laminated signs informing us about sensitive plumbing, reminders to turn lights off, what to recycle and how to turn the key to access the room. It did strike a humorous note for us during our stay. Sadly compared to the other establishments we had visited at on this trip it was our by far our least favourite .

Lovely weekend in Hawes

Great spot right in the centre of Hawes. Room was clean and cosy. Plenty to do nearby, we visited Wensleydale creamery and did a few good walks. Scenery is gorgeous! Glenn & Liz are lovely hosts, the breakfast was gorgeous. Would stay again.

Great location in the centre of Hawes. Very clean and Glenn & Liz were friendly and helpful hosts. The room was very comfortable with some nice touches - interesting artwork, water, tea etc. Very comfortable bed and an excellent breakfast.

Nothing really; scored a 9 on facilities as bedroom on the modest size and there wasn’t a shared lounge.

The Food was very good if not rather obviously portion controlled, the home made Granola was excellent, but more than a tablespoon full would have been nice

Warm welcome from the host Glen. Comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast - cooked and presented perfectly. We are doing the Herriot Way with baggage transfer between our four bed and breakfast stays. Next time we will come back with our husbands because we could stay the five nights with Gken and Liz at Herriots Hotel and Glen runs a transport service to and from the start and end of each days walk.

Really comfortable room with a great view of the countryside. In a central location; very convenient for local shops and eateries, yet still nice and quiet. Very friendly and helpful hosts. Fantastic breakfasts.

Enjoyable stay

We are senior travelers and the fact that we were on the top floor was an issue for us, however Glenn was fantastic as he assisted me in getting the cases upstairs. When I booked we were advised that if we came there would be no assistance, however he was so nice and gave me the help I needed. Glenn and his wife were incredibly friendly and I would return anytime. They gave us good advice on what to do in Hawes and we completed our stay with a wonderful breakfast. Thanks again to Glenn & Liz.

Too expensive for the standard of room.

The breakfast was very good.

In need of updating, for the price it should have been a lot better. The door didn’t lock so we had to leave it unlocked while we went out too. Tiny bathroom and not a great shower.

A perfect place to stay in Hawes

Herriots in Hawes is a cafe cum gallery and B&B in the centre of the village. Check in was friendly and welcoming and our room (No 6) is very clean and smart. It is also nicely decorated with light colours and has two good sized windows so it feels light and airy. Also, as it’s at the top of the house, it has lovely views of the village and surrounding countryside. Breakfast was served in the gallery tearoom and was excellent. After a fresh fruit salad with yogurt we both enjoyed the full English which was delicious and passed my simple three requirements for a cooked breakfast, ie quality ingredients, perfectly cooked and nicely presented. It was perfect. This was our first stay at Herriots but as it will now be our preferred hotel in Hawes we will certainly be back.

The Harriots Hotel

I took my girlfriend here for her surprise birthday weekend trip. From my initial contact with Glen, he was so helpful & accommodating with any queries and requests I had. When we arrived, we were greeted by Glen and his wife had arranged for some lovely flowers & Prosecco to be in the room as part of my partners birthday surprise. The room was lovely and clean with everything we needed, the breakfast was great with plenty of it & the dinner recommendation was excellent too. Thanks both, we’ll be back ! 5 STAR'S FOR ME ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Breakfast was good, exactly what we asked for, we were asked if we wanted anything else, my sister requested more toast, was given to her with a smile! The owners were extremely helpful and informative. Thank you!
