La Pergola is a tastefully restored landowners farmhouse, known as a Casa Colonica. The house is situated in a beautiful area of Tuscany surrounded by hills with olive groves and pines. Situated above the ancient Medici village of Buti with fabulous views over a large area of Tuscany, La Pergola is located only 30 minutes drive from Pisa airport and perfect for visiting many of the famous Tuscan towns. It is a quiet location, offering privacy and relaxation. The historic village of Buti is 1.5 kms walk, where you will find small shops, restaurants and bars.
The building is a former farmhouse that has been restored using original materials (brick, wood, stone) and furnished with antique furniture in the tradition of the region.
On the ground floor is the well equipped modern kitchen, dining room with traditional open fireplace, a bedroom with two single beds, and a bathroom with shower. Upstairs is a master bedroom with en-suite toilet (no shower or bath), a single bedroom, a large bedroom containing a double bed and a single bed leading to a small terrace, and a bathroom with bathtub. The house also has another terrace for sunbathing. The garden is terraced over a few levels.
The property includes a 10 x 4 metre private swimming pool with a nice sunbathing area. At the front of the house a large pergola shades the terrace which has a table and chairs, perfect for outdoor dining. There's also a barbecue and stone pizza oven. From the pool and from the terrace you can enjoy a fantastic view of the surrounding hills and on the village of Buti. There is free Wi-Fi.
The village of Buti lies below the villa. To reach the villa our guests must drive through the beautiful olive grove on a farmers road. The road is gravel and quite narrow with bends and we do not recommend coming with trailers or caravans or very low down sports cars. The road has little traffic as it is only used by the farmers and 5 other houses.
The garden is fully fenced and suitable for dogs.
The location is ideal as a starting point to visit the cities of Tuscany: Lucca and Bagni di Lucca, nearby San Miniato, Pisa, Florence, Volterra, San Gimignano and Certaldo. On the Ligurian coast, while the resorts of Viareggio and Forti dei Marmi are within easy reach as well as the beautiful coastal villages of Lerici and Portovenere.
A tourist tax of 1 euro per person per day will be collected by the owner.
The pool is open from mid May to mid September. Can be opened early/ late for a feee.

We had a fantastic time at La Pergola and especially Caterina, the owner, was just great! The views are simply stunning and the house is really authentic, just lovely! We enjoyed the pool and terrace as well as the patio.
Just be prepared that in August it is very hot, also at night (!!) and there is no AC! You need to open the windows which have no fly screens and at that time of the year there were a lot of mosquitos which troubled some of us a lot. We used tons of mosquito spray.
Our kids were fascinated by the wildlife around (and sometimes in) the house, which you get used to very quickly and which gives you the full Tuscan countryside experience.
Just be aware that the description on fewo mentions a TV and DVD player as well as Billard: these ammentities are not there. But the wifi works as mentioned.
Overall it was a fantastic holiday with so much to see and do and taste and smell ... we loved Italy and Buti a lot!

Our company of six spent 8 enjoyable days at la pergola.As mentioned in the description of the house it is quite an adventure to get there, narrow, steep road. Not ideal for big cars and steep steps to get to the house.But in the end there is the reward.Stunnig views of Buti, especially at night. Very serene and relaxing place.Spent hours sitting outside, having dinner under the pergola, listenig to the sounds of nature, roosters and chickens included. All in all, lovely place.

Katrina and colleagues were amazing. So very helpful.house was just as pictures show. Views are amazing. The downside is for elderly outside patio uneven due to natural stone. Beautiful, but elderly need to be careful. For that age group there is a lot of steps from car to house. The drive from Carpark at the bottom of the hill up to house is not for nervous drivers!!!! But apart from that its a rustic farmhouse with incredible views. And the hostess and colleagues were brillant.
