Renovated 15S farmhouse with swimming pool 10mx5m in full nature calm unique frame guaranteed

Mas Carol is an amazing place! Prepare to be in the middle of nowhere, the road is fine if you drive carefully but the location gives you a lot of rest and breathtaking views. The owners are very nice and available for questions. The pool is clean and large. The house can get a little bit of an upgrade, especially the kitchen but that is also the style and what makes it charming. We had a great time!

The views from mas Carol are simply breathtaking - not a house in site in all directions, just endless forest up to the dramatic ridge of the Spanish border. The woods are quiet and peaceful, and there are marvellous walks from the front door - follow tree forest road up into the mountains till you reach a stream, where after a steep climb on an overgrown local trail you can join the grand randonée and have incredible views down towards Céret. The town is very picturesque, with a museum of extremely impressive e quality, and all the necessities. But in the Mas you can enjoy toys solitude. The building is old and impressive, and generally wel-kept, though the kitchen is a little shabby (old, filthy sponges, temperamental cooker, few utensils, not very good quality equipment). It is nicely furnished. The upstairs bathroom (shared) has a lovely big bath. The pool is wonderful, clean, refreshing, and partly shaded by an apple tree. There is a handy gas grill for dinners on the terrace. M and Mme Armangué were very kind, and it’s clear that they take pride in what was their family home. The English HomeAway listing lacks some crucial information however, and guests would benefit from its being updated. Namely: - check in is between 15:00 and 19:00 (a narrow window, for those flying from the UK particularly) - check out is at 11:00 - an additional charge of €60 for housecleaning is applied - this must be paid in cash - towels, including hand towels, are not provided If we had had this information it would have prevented some misunderstandings, though our hosts were very accommodating and we would be happy to stay again.

If you want a totally secluded retreat, surrounded by stunning countryside and within easy reach of an attractive town, this is the perfect place! The evening chorus of the birds, the hooting owls and the dark skies totally devoid of any artificial light were breathtaking. Beware though, the local roads aren't really suited to a large expensive car, better to have an old vehicle you don't mind collecting a few scratches. Our family had a wonderfully relaxing week, exploring the local countryside, climbing some of the local hills and one high peak (about an 1 1/2 hr drive away) and doing very little beside the pool or on the terrace. We also climbed down to the local gorge where organised canyoning trips take place, but these would need prior booking. The farmhouse is very tastefully restored, comfortable and well-equipped (although access to a washing machine would have been welcome as we brought with us a limited number of towels). You do have to know your fellow visitors very well as 2 of the bedrooms have ensuite bath/shower rooms, to be shared by the occupant of the 3rd bedroom, although there is a separate downstairs loo. The swimming pool is great and there is a shady terrace where we spent most of our time. The owners Mme & M Armangue were very welcoming and accommodating. We would happily recommend this property to those who enjoy outdoor activities and wild countryside and would definitely consider a repeat visit!

Maison de caractère joliment décorée, très bien équipée. Idéalement située pour ceux qui cherchent un séjour au calme au coeur de la nature. Nombreux sentiers forestiers aux abords de la maison, pistes vtt et départ de canyoning. Propriétaires facilement joignables en cas de problème.
