Kirk is a fourth-generation Washingtonian whose family has lived on Capitol Hill since the late 1800s, and where he continues to live today with his wife and two children. Kirk's Great-Grandmother, Margaret, purchased this 1890 Victorian home In 1905 to entice one of her two daughters to raise her own family in the neighborhood. Kirk's Great Aunt, Nell, and her husband, John, raised their 12 children in this home.
In 2008 at the behest of Kirk's 82-year-old cousin, Kirk's family purchased the house from relatives who had owned or lived in the house since 1905, and then they spent over two years meticulously restoring and renovating the home, blending old-world Victorian charm and ambiance with new world appliances and technology.
Today, Kirk's family, now a fifth generation of Washingtonians, are honored to offer you the opportunity to experience residential living in the newly updated guesthouse, right in the heart of our Nation's Capitol, at the Historic Eastern Market on Capitol Hill!

Kitchen could use better (larger) coffee maker for people today like their coffee.We could not get the dishwasher to work above... the one below, it did not drain. Might be us not figuring it out... so we washed by hand.Very charming... historic... quiet location to metro was perfect for what we were doing in D.C. The walk to The Capitol was easy and not very far, restaurants along the route were of interest. The National Guardsmen and women were extremely informative and nice to talk to.

The property was conveniently located to walk to Eastern Market & other shops & restaurants. It was comfortable & clean. The kitchen was well equipped. It was the perfect spot for us to visit with nearby family. We enjoyed our stay!

Beautiful street and great location very close to the subway. Trader Joe’s was right there by the subway stop and Eastern market. The space was nice and comfortable. The only thing that wasn’t 5 stars was the dishwasher didn’t work the best.
