Eastern Market Suites is a charming, newly renovated Victorian house featuring a three room suite on the first level, offering a single bedroom w/queen-size bed, a double-size sofa-bed in your tastefully furnished living room, and other high-end amenities. Located at the Eastern Market Metro station, on Capitol Hill, in Washington, DC., we are less than two blocks from the historic Eastern Market (circa 1873), where visitors enjoy fresh produce six days a week and an outdoor flea market featuring antiques and local artisan's wares every weekend. Your suite is around the corner from Barrack's Row (a very popular destination point for restaurants, coffee shops and shopping), and 1/2 block from easy subway access to anywhere in or around the city.

We actually stayed on the top floor of the house, rather than this unit to better accommodate another family but the space was great! It was very tastefully decorated and well equipped, nicely climate controlled (cool despite warmth and humidity), and the parking permit is a real bonus! Great location - close to wonderful restaurants, Metro, and Trader Joe's.

The EMS property was just as described, and quite lovely. The first floor apartment was spacious enough to make us feel very comfortable, and the neighborhood was lovely -- and quiet! Kirk was terrific throughout the booking process, and the fact that the property has been in his family for generations means he takes extra special care of it.
When we next visit DC, we would definitely stay here again. Thanks for all.

We are a retired couple from New Orleans who visited D.C. in October 2018. We carefully selected this apartment after quite a bit of study. We didn't go wrong! Our stay was delightful on all accounts.
This Capitol Hill-Eastern Market apartment is lovely and extremely well decorated, equipped, and comfortable. The kitchen even has a Viking range and Fisher Paykel refrigerator and dishwasher.
We absolutely loved the location! It is excellent for morning walks, access to several parks (including one at the Navy Yard on the river), and within easy walking distance of 35-40 restaurants. A walk to the U.S. Supreme Court building and the Capitol takes about 20 minutes. In mid-morning and the mid-afternoon the museums are a quick and easy uber ride of 10 minutes, 15 at the most. Like any big city, avoid the rush hour traffic. There is also a metro stop only a block away, so taking the metro is another good option for getting around.
"Barracks Row", a portion of 8th St. S.E., is a block away and home to a wide variety of restaurants including: Balkan, Belgian,Thai, Italian, Pakastani/Indian, Greek, Mexican, Seafood, Sushi, and, of course, American. A few other restaurants are located on nearby Pennsylvania Avenue.
If we return to D.C. again, we will definitely want to stay at this apartment again. A somewhat trivial comment, but perhaps worth mentioning, is that there are no ice trays. The refrigerator, like most refrigerators made primarily for sale in Europe and elsewhere--but not in the U.S.--does not have an ice maker. So if you want ice during your stay, bring an ice tray or two.
Don't hesitate to rent his apartment! It is one of the nicest and best located apartments we have ever rented and definitely deserves a 5 star rating.
