This was an incredible place to stay. It had everything I needed, it was incredibly close to the beach, and it was a great way to enjoy Southern California. The hosts are wonderful people and made it that much more enjoyable. I am hoping to come back in the future!

We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 week stay! The studio is an easy walk to the beach and situated in a nice neighborhood. It’s been well kept, clean and very well equipped. Ed and Jill were most accommodating and made our stay very enjoyable. We will be back!

Stayed here 1 month, Ed and Jill were rude and not nice, to me, I’m a single gal, they watch the tiny old unit and anyone in it like HALKS , they call a FEW times a week to include Sunday’s in Emergency or Urgent style for no real reason, just to bug , yet they don’t respond to your concerns, they did an EMERGENCY ENTRANCE , to the unit , no real ER , I was told not to use the heat, although it was a storm all month and freezing , Ed is a heavy drinker, Jill never came to say HI, but called to harass all month!! , they have a broken lock leaving your stuff open for theft, they are surrounded by apartment buildings, there is rust on everything to include Kitchen stuff, the MOLD is awful, you an smell it, dangerous wood steps to get in unit, when they are wet, it’s like a death trap, they get upset if you pay to park in driveway , they even asked me to park on street, there are 4 — yes 4 ways for them to enter, and every once in awhile drunk ED pops out of one of them, with so many places to stay, avoid these people and their bull! The unit itself is small and old , at least 15 min drive to village and they hold your security for 2 full weeks

The setup is great for two. Loved having our morning coffee on the private front deck. As others mentioned, the Coaster train horn is very loud and frequent on weeknights, so bring your noise-cancelling headphones. It was a nice walk to Carlsbad Village using the trail, to grab lunch or dinner.

They graciously let us use their parking spot in front of their garage, which was awesome... because parking is at a premium in the area. Although we were surprised there was no a/c...they had a large fan which circulated the air significantly (and muffled the sound of the train, too. Perfect solution!!). The location was a short drive into the darling town of Carlsbad. We would definitely recommend this VRBO property to anyone!!

This was listed as a studio, but described as a 1 bedroom? It was a quaint studio, with a pretty good flight of stairs.. the entry gate/door should be marked better, initially confusing. It is a studio built behind someone’s house. I tried texting and calling the owner a couple days prior to the stay, but never heard back till the morning of. I would not advise to text them. When I got there it was dark, that is why it was confusing as to the entrance. There was dirty clothes in one of the drawers, so I wondered if it was really cleaned? An unfolded towel in the bathroom and a little dusty. After talking to the owner Jill, she explained there were unusual circumstances, but as a landlord myself to multiple properties, ultimately it is your responsibility to make sure the property is ready for the next person. She was nice and took care of it right away. It appears fairly new, and was clean other than what was mentioned. Because it was not a cheap place and what I encountered initially, that was why I rated it the way I did. Also most places I’ve stayed have a a laminated checklist for arrival and leaving with all pertinent information on it, not sticky notes.

Very upscale finish and furnishings. Kitchen topnotch. Nice small patio off back door to sunbathe, charcoal grill downstairs in another patio. Privacy, low noise from neighbors; train tracks one block away with usual train sounds. Stairs help keep in shape; good area for walks. Close to beach and heart of Carlsbad Village; easy freeway access. Hosts friendly and unobtrusive. Would definitely stay again.

This was a quiet, clean oversized room + kitchen that was exactly as described. I had minimal contact with the owners; there was no need. They got me checked in, everything was in perfect order, I stayed several days, and then I left. The room had a very crisp, clean, pleasant vibe to it, with comfortable furniture and plenty of privacy. The rates were similar to a decent hotel room, so I felt this was a good value. I’ve stayed in several quite nice places in Carlsbad over the past few years and would definitely consider this one again.

We enjoyed our stay at Jill’s place. Perfect place to stay for our 15 year anniversary trip. The location was great, about .5 miles to the beach and we were able to walk to everything in town. The neighborhood was safe and quiet. The studio was clean and had everything we needed. Jill’s communication was great! We would stay here again!
