Carey's Bar & Farmhouse Kilkenny Border

I was moving house, having moved out of one but with the new home not quite ready, so I needed to find somewhere to stay for a week. I was lucky enough to find Careys, an historic farm and pub not far from me and what a wonderful find! A delightful apartment consisting of a comfortable kitchen/lounge, a huge immaculate shower/wet room and a large bedroom with 2 double beds. The entrance was a little tricky to find -it is opposite a mediaeval church called St Lazarian and you have to drive into the farmyard. Where you will be greeted by the hostess the lovely Olive (ask her about the history of the farm and pub – its fascinating!) (I am slightly disabled but its all wheelchair friendly; Olive said I could have brought my dog but unfortunately she was already in kennels) For visitors there’s masses to see and do and Olive has put together a folder full of helpful information (IMO Dunmore Cave is really worth a visit) Theres a travel guide called Irelands Hidden Gems and if Careys isn’t in it, it should be it really is a hidden gem

Private section of the property had a nice kitchenette and easy access by car to surrounding attractions

Beds/pillows were not the most comfortable but that is the only thing I could possibly complain about.

Clean and comfortable and well equipped.

Extra charge for dog when staying one night.
