The home is owned by Ted Flanigan, President of an energy and environmental consulting firm based in Los Angeles. He raised his two daughters there and rebuilt it in 1986 as a passive solar large sunny windows on the south, with active solar radiant heating in the master bedroom suite added in 1997. The super-insulated house features a large, vaulted living room, dining and kitchen area, plus a large entry-way "mudroom" for boots and coats.
Amenities include: fully stocked kitchen, plentiful parking, wireless internet, gas grill, new washer and dryer, laptop work space, big screen HDTV, private entry, family-kid friendly, essentials, shampoo, iron, and hair dryer.
Safety features include: safety card, 3 fire extinguishers, carbon monoxide and smoke detectors, and first-aid kit.
The rural landscape is postcard picturesque with creeks, horse ranches, an alpaca farm, St. Benedict's Monastery, the original Rocky Mountain Institute and public access to 957 acres of open space and trails on John Denver's former Windstar property.
The Shore House was originally built in 1974 by Ron Shore and was accredited as one of the top 100 most innovative solar homes in America.
