About this house rental

We recently renovated a traditional house in Trafaria, on the banks of the Tagus, with the help of the Lisbon architect Inês Brandão. The picturesque area of Belém is just across the river, and can be reached by boat, giving the opportunity to admire the city of Lisbon from the river. Stunning views and a quiet house with a private garden make it a great place to visit Lisbon city, taste the seafood and fish in one of Trafaria's famous restaurants, on the banks of the Tagus, and explore the city. beautiful Atlantic coast of Caparica, with its huge sandy beach that stretches for over 20 km along the ocean.

Space :
The house is new and fully equipped. The living room looks directly onto the garden, with a wooden terrace directly accessible by glass doors. A detail that was important to us during the renovation of the house was the flow between the inside and the outside, in particular to maximize the brightness inside the house. There is a barbecue next to the wooden deck, with a table outside so everyone can enjoy the weather and outdoor dining. In the main square, a 5-minute walk from the house, you can buy delicious meat grilling at the butcher's, or fresh fish at the market.
We hope you enjoy our garden too, with our small plants and (still) small trees that we take care of and want to see grow season after season when we return to our hometown for the holidays.

Host access:
Guests have access to the entire property. We took great care to rebuild this house while retaining the original historic architecture of the original building. We wanted to have a house for holidays and family reunions because I am from Costa da Caparica, where part of my family still resides (10 minutes away). We wanted to renovate a house in the historic city of Trafaria, once the main social resort for Lisboners, and then forgotten for several decades when the centers of interest moved to the beaches of Caparica. In the last ten years or so, however, the city is starting to be renovated, and several high-end restaurants offering typical seafood cuisine have opened along the river and around the city. In fact, Trafaria has once again become a "trendy" place, and people in Lisbon often make the round trip by boat from Belém, for a lunch on weekends.
However, Trafaria remains a relatively unknown jewel to discover in the booming tourism of Lisbon.

Interaction with the hosts:
I live in Marseille, France, but my mother and my brother still live in Costa da Caparica, 10 minutes by car. I will always be available by phone, and my family or friends will be available for emergencies (lost keys, house problem, etc.).
The welcome is made by someone we trust, very helpful, who can tell you everything you need to know about the house and its surroundings.

Upon check-in, guests are required to present a piece of ID for each guest staying in order to comply with Portuguese law on the reception of non-Portuguese nationals, in the same way as you must present at check-in. hotel (you will find more information here and here

Version française:
We recently recovered an old ruin in Trafaria, right by the River Tejo, with the help of Lisbon Architect Inês Brandão. The scenic Belém district lies just across the river, a short beautiful boat ride away. This is the best place to stay in Lisbon, Trafaria's famous sea-food and fish restaurants on the river side, and the amazing coast of Caparica, a long beach that stretches over than 20 km along the Atlantic Ocean.

The space:
The house is completely new and fully equipped. The garden has a deck right outside the living room, easily accessible through glass doors. One of our main objectives when recovering the house is to maximize the flow between indoor and outdoor areas. There is a barbecue next to the wooden deck, with an outdoor dinning area for everyone to enjoy the amazing weather of Lisbon. You can get delicious meat from the butcher, or fresh fish from the market, right on the main square, 5 minutes walk from the house.
We hope you will enjoy our garden too, with our tiny little plants and we will be happy to welcome you back to your home.

Guests access
Guests have the full house at their disposal. This is our home, which we took great care of rebuilding while maintaining the historical architecture of the original house. We wanted to have a home for the holidays and family reunions, as I am originally from Costa da Caparica (the beautiful beaches 10 min away). We wanted to renovate a house in the historic town of Trafaria, in the old port of Lisbon, and in the old town of Lisbon. About 10 years ago, the town has a number of restaurants focusing on typical sea-food cuisine opened along the river front and around town. This made Trafaria a popular place again, and people living in Belém for a long lunch weekend.
Still, Trafaria is a relatively unknown gem to discover in the booming tourism of Lisbon.

Interaction with guests:
I live with my family in Marseille, France, but my mother and my brother are still located in Costa da Caparica, 10 minutes drive away.
I will always be available on the phone, and my family or friends will be able to meet you in case of urgent need (lost keys, some issue in the house, etc.).
The meeting and greet will be done by someone we trust, and who is always extremely helpful with our guests.

During the check-in period, you will need to stay in one of these countries, where you will be able to meet your needs. find more here

We loved the very spacious and clean house with all the amenities but the best quality of it is it's location. It is in Trafaria, a small fisherman village where you can really feel and share the lifestyle of rural Portuguese with real authentic food but you are only across the river from Lisbon. Even if you don't have a car, a two minutes walk will get you on a ferry to Belem. I ate the best food of our Portugal trip in Trafaria's restaurants. (Piri Piri chicken is to die for)The communication with Nuno the owner and Nuno the host was really easy, I got a lot of info's way before my stay which is reassuring.Totally recommend.

Very comfortable, well equipped home. Close to beaches and ferry to Belem. Good base to explore Lisbon and have some quiet beach time. Wonderful seafood restaurant short walk away.

We absolutely LOVED this property. My mother in law loved it so much she want to buy it haha. Nuno & Nuno we’re the best hosts we’ve ever experienced. The communication from both of them made you feel like you knew exactly what you were doing and they were there to answer any questions at all hours. The second day we were there was Portuguese Mother’s Day and Nuno Luis was nice enough to drive us to a local market to grab flowers for my mother in law before she woke up, it was the most caring thing and his conversation and information about Portugal was amazing. The property itself was beautiful. Spacious, the kitchen is and girll outside is perfect if you want to spend a night in with the family. The markets and coffee shops around the corner have all your necessary items needed for your stay. The people that work in the plaza around the corner were some of the nicest people we’ve ever met. The location and area was perfect for us being that Lisbon is so busy and touristy that having the property just a short drive, Uber or ferry away was so worth it. Also so close to some of the most beautiful beaches any of the 5 of us have EVER seen in all of our travels. Seriously if you are thinking about this property and want some welcoming people and quiet area to enjoy your vaction in. This is the one for you. We will plan to stay at this property again not if but WHEN we come back to visit. Thank you nunos!!!
