TEMBO Cottage Wilpattu

The room was on the small size and pretty basic but very clean with a comfortable bed. It was nice to have a pool to cool down and relax. The food was pretty good. We were there when the owners were staying there - they normally live in Colombo - and they were lovely and welcoming and spoke very good English. The staff were friendly and accommodating but some of them spoke very little English. The location was very near to the entrance to the Park. They were happy to arrange a safari for us as well as transport to Negombo.

The wi-fi was not good - it kept dropping in and out. The price for accommodation and food was more than what we’ve paid at all the other locations we’ve been to in Sri Lanka but I guess that’s due to its remote location and the limited options available.

Large clean room, good air- con, comfortable mattress , good location close to Wilpattu National Park entrance. Breakfast good. The pool was clean.

No WiFi. Very little information on excursions, no English spoken, phone used for translation. No management on site, 3% charge for paying by card and an undisclosed 10% service charge added to food bill. 500 meters from main road on a track. Beware of high priced safaris and transfers.

For the Comfort a bit expensive

Breakfast was good. Presentation and variety were good. Beds were very comfortable and staff were polite and tried their best to make us happy, especially the room/waiting lady and chef.

We would have preferred to order a dish or two off the set menu which was not allowed.
