There’s nothing we disliked

A warm welcoming place. It's been amazing with 2 warm fireplaces and a record player with an entire library of LPs. The kitchen had everything we needed. The location is perfect.

It’s an interesting place with many old amenities. The host was very friendly, sharing all the needed information before check-in, and also put a folder in the house to introduce the history of this place.

There was no ac in the toilet, a bit cold in the morning.

Close to town. Plenty of parking. Spacious. Interesting large LP collection. Firewood supplied. Good space for ski gear in the laundry. Very effective heater in the bathroom quickly made it the toastiest room in the house.

There mattress bases on the 2 single beds were very old fashioned and sagged. These beds should be replaced. The weather was cold: -7deg frost. On the last morming, the toilet didn’t flush because of frozen pipes – which in itself was a fun experience. The instructions said this can be prevented if you “leave the heat lamp on in the toilet”. However, these instructions are out of date as there was no heat lamp: the light bulb is now a low energy bulb. We used buckets of hot water to fill the cistern to flush the toilet. Yes, the house warms up from the fires and heat pump, but in cold weather, when you get up in the morning, you have to endure the cold in order to get the fire in the kitchen going again, and this is challenging and uncomfortable in a freezing cold house first thing in the morning. Luckily, we’d brought a small fan heater with us which was very useful to warm the kitchen in the morning and the twin bedroom at night. We recommend in very cold weather you bring a portable fan heater or two that deliver heat faster than a fire can. It would be good if the hosts provided extra heaters like this. The drawers in the kitchen can go in at any angle and need care to close them properly.
