Pleasant and tranquil

The apartment was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment and was nice to find that milk, tea, coffee, sugar, salt and pepper were provided. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and the hot tub was a real treat which we used most days, and the games room was fun. The location was great with an easy walk to the village and beach and easy to drive to many places of interest.

The bedrooms were very small and the beds we found to be quite uncomfortable with very little support and able to feel the springs, so we didn't sleep well. The kitchen was also very small, ok if you just want to heat something up. I was expecting the swimming pool to be heated as that's what is advertised, but it was cold, so only used it once. I was rather disappointed as that is why I booked this place.

Fantastic family getaway

We had a wonderful stay at Bassett Acre Holiday, Portreath in August 2025. Mary and Karl were fantastic hosts (with George keeping us smiling!) and Karl kindly loaned us wetsuits and body boards, plus gave us brilliant beach tips. Our kids (13 and 9) loved the pool, games room, and exploring the garden and carp pond. We needn’t have worried about shared facilities – everything was spotless and spacious, with comfy beds and top-quality bedding. Portreath is a quiet gem with a great bakery, three bars, and a lovely beach. We’ll definitely be back!

This is a wonderful property with great facilities, the owners were on site and around regularly, they very friendly and couldn’t do enough to make our stay as comfortable as possible lending us wetsuits and body boards

The facilities were great- swimming pool/jacuzzi/BBQ - the apartment was good, but was a little bit dated (the owners did say this was on the list to be renovated), and the kitchen was small but adequate for our needs (we ate out most days). The owners Pat/Richard and Karl were fantastic, very chatty/lovely people and recommended a butcher and fishmonger for getting supplies for our BBQ. Great location - 2 minutes walk to the beach and cafes/pubs

Well worth a trip

Lovely setting, very close to the beach & amenities. The Badgers watch apartment was nice enough with all you need should you wish to prepare meals & the balcony with seating area was certainly an added plus. Lovely SAFE enclosed swimming pool which is great for kids, external seating to the rear was lovely too, a very nice garden area which is a plus on a sunny day if your lazing around. We didn't use the other facilities which were available. There are steps up to this apartment which are easily negotiated. The apartment was ideal for myself, wife & 10yr old & we would happily return

Not much really to dislike in truth, bar the double bed (years spent spoiling ourselves with a king size) which caused me a few uncomfortable nights, i like a firm mattress but this one was the other end of that scale. Access at the side of the bed proved challenging for me but i am disabled, my wife had no issues though.

A quiet location. The accommodation was much better than we expected. Beautiful house and amenities within great gardens. Hot-tub was perfect. Indoor pool was enjoyed by my family daily. Lots of things for the family to do -but we were out a lot of the time so we didn't get around to using many. BarBQ was good and popular with other families. The hosts were very friendly and helpful too. We had a great stay.

A lovely holiday, in a great location

The location was brilliant, with only a 5 minute walk to the beach, and the village facilities. The facilities at the accommodation were also first class. A lovely pool, hot tub, games room, with a nice garden with sun loungers. The hosts were fab too.

Having the pool and hot tub for use was first class. Game facilities for use if weather was changeable was a great idea. It’s location was very central to Portreath which had a shop/pub/restaurant/golf club and great walks The property itself was a two bedroomed self contained flat which had everything you needed and more.

The two bedroomed flat we stayed in although had everything we needed - personally for us we would have been more comfortable with a king size bed or two singles rather than a bunk bed and a double, that is entirely our own choice and comfort.

Great for walkers

The flat wasn't large but neat and cosy. Not sure about the white leather couch though. Don't book the Badgers lookout if you have kids! The kitchen was excellently equipped. Just a short walk from the harbour. Cornwall coast is stunning. Overall a nice place to stay

The TV reception was not good and the wifi really really slow at times. Parking was a squeeze. Don't take a rental car there unless you have insurance. Didn't meet the owners at all. Didn't really need to.

The entire apartment was beautiful, every little detail, the heated pool and hot tub were wonderful after a rainy day exploring. It felt so cosy but so much like we we’re abroad. We would both loooove to come back. Pam and rich are so friendly and helpful. There’s pubs and shops close by and cornwalls main attractions all about 20-1hr drive away! Lots of bus stops right by and £5 to travel all day. The apartment has everything you need for a week or weekend away and a lovely view. There’s also a lovely breakfast bar on the beach a few mins away. I felt so at home and comfortable here, there’s also a beautiful little porch way outside the front door. Truly wonderful 😁

What a great place, you cannot go wrong.

The place is amazing, the garden is lovely, the pool, hot tub, games room, all great, the apartments had everything you need to cook and more, and was very comfortable, the grounds are sweet, theres a washing machine available even, the location is fantastic and the hosts are just the loveliest people you could ever possibly meet. We want to live there! :)

I'd definitely go again

The location is excellent, a short flat walk to the seaside, passing 3 very friendly pubs on the way. There is an excellent mini market, 1st class bakery & Chinese takeaway, what more can you ask for ! The big heated pool in the garden glasshouse was fab as was the jacuzzi & although we didn't see the badgers in the back garden at night the family of owls made up for it. Inside the apartments ( we hired 2) there is plenty of space & equipment.

Great accommodation in a lovely part of Cornwall.

Location was amazing, the beach was stunning with some very good places to eat and lots of attractions we wanted to visit close by. The accommodation suited our needs and the owners were lovely, super helpful and thought of everything to make our stay perfect.

The mattress on the double bed was uncomfortable and had a mound in the middle and dipped sides and probably could do with replacing if we were honest.

Ideal quiet part of Cornwall. The extra benefit of the covered heated pool plus hot tub. Excellent accommodation with great views. Plus a great pub at the end of the road. Fantastic beach with cafes. Bassets Acre is a beautiful property with wonderful gardens to explore and a nice heated pool. The location is excellent with only a short walk to the beach, pubs and restaurants in Portreath. Pam was an excellent host.
