About the Area: Lake Arrowhead, Lake Gregory, & Big Bear Lake are recreational lakes in the Southern California San Bernardino mountains. They offer fresh crisp air, cooler weather (10-15 degrees) in the summer, & snow in the winter. They also offer a more relaxed & low-key energy “vibe” making them ideal locations for getaways to renew the mind, spirit, & body & to reconnect with family & friends. We answer frequent questions regarding the lakes & have put together some information below on what makes each location unique so it is easier to match with your specific goals for your time away. Upon booking one of our properties, you will receive more detailed information on how you can spend your time in the area. Big Bear Lake is a public lake & friendly to all types of boats & water sports & is the largest lake of the three. There is a short paved bike & walking trail that goes along the lake. Big Bear is a City & is more populated with stores, restaurants, & nightlife than the other two locations. It has more of a “desert” feel in terms of its topography. Big Bear is 26 miles up the mountain from Lake Arrowhead, Although none of our properties are in Big Bear, we recommend it for a day trip. Lake Arrowhead is a private lake & is accessible to guests staying at properties with lake rights if the owners have permitted for guests to use their ALA (Arrowhead Lake Association) passes. If this is the case, the Amenity “lake access” will be checked on the listing. In our list of properties, the Gingerbread Cottage is providing lake access. With lake access, specifically, the lake trail is accessible. There is a $10 per person per day fee that is required to be paid to receive a wristband for access. More information can be found on the ALA website. Swimming is allowed from the lake trail at any location except the beach clubs (these are restricted to owners). There is no ability to launch boats or SUPs on the lake. The Village is lakefront & is the main area for shops & restaurants & has a fitness center as well. The Queen boat is a tour boat on Lake Arrowhead that provides much of the history of the town - tickets can be purchased at the shop by the lake. There is a local company that offers water skiing lessons boat tours & rentals. This area has more of a small town & alpine feel to it. The Villas area (south side of the lake) in Lake Arrowhead is cooler & gets more snow that lasts longer than the north side of the lake which gets more sun in the winter & is hotter in the summer. The Villas area is an older area with older homes & narrower streets. The Tudor House is an event center offering Sunday brunch & a variety of events. Skypark is a local attraction as well as Snow Valley for skiing for both Lake Arrowhead & Lake Gregory. Lake Arrowhead is 15 minutes up the mountain from Lake Gregory. Lake Gregory is a public lake in the town of Crestline, a small town about 20 minutes from the base of the mountain of San Bernardino. It is the closest mountain town to events & locations “down the hill”. In the past few years, the lake operations have become privately managed with significant improvements being done at the lake including the development of a water park, beach improvements, & boat, kayak, & canoe rentals. There is a fee to access the beach area & the water park & no fee to access the 2 1/2 mile trail around the lake. Fishing is allowed & more info can be found on the Lake Gregory website. Crestline has a small-town alpine feel with the lake nestled amongst the tall trees. Crestline gets less snow than the other 2 lake locations. The quaint town has restaurants, coffee shops, & thrift stores. Twin Peaks/Blue Jay sits in between Crestline & Lake Arrowhead & is convenient to both lakes. It has its restaurants, shops, & thrift stores. It is famous for its outdoor farmer’s market on Thursday afternoons (seasonal). To make this property affordable and reasonable for small groups there is an extra guest fee of $15 per person after 2 people.
A BBQ is provided at the house, however, please be aware that we do not refill propane. We will reimburse you if you need to fill the propane. If you will arrive late, local stores may be closed or if it`s a holiday may run out of propane so it is advised to bring your own propane tank. if you plan to use the BBQ on the day of arrival.

We had a wonderful relaxing weekend. Beautiful views and weather and the house was perfect for our family.

Stay was terrific. Great views from all windows. Perfect for a writing retreat. Balcony was especially nice for sunrise coffee. AC and WiFi worked very well. All the things I needed including plenty of towels, dishes etc. Great extras like Roku and suntan lotion and snack basket. Eric (name? Handyman) was very sweet and fixed stopper in sink that was stuck. Three very minor things: all your light labels have faded out but I experimented and figured most out, so no worries. There was plenty of lighting. The garage door I could never get to work from the outside despite trying over and over. But just opened from inside button.Still these are incredibly minor. The view and the comfy beds and couches and amazing balcony are the real stars. Plus everything was spotlessly clean.

One of the main reasons we reserved this house was the jacuzzi tub overlooking the lake. Both days we tried to use it, it did not work, and we called and the handyman came over 5 hours later and walked in and scared us all. He did not fix it. They also were called several times to fix the TV so we could watch movies.... we called the first day, at 3:00 or so,... and we got a message at 630 saying the work hours are over for the day and to call back the next day. We called the next day, 2 gentleman came over and tried to fix the Tv and said.... " we need a teenager to fix this" ? needless to say, it was not fixed. The overall experience in a VRBO was bad.I have owned several VRBOs and managed them myself,... and to not get any follow up phone calls within a reasonable period of time, let alone the problems were never addressed really says alot about how they run their rental property. Not good, and I would never recommend this property... although the views were very nice but other than that, it was not worth it.

We enjoyed our time in the home very much. The communication with the host was excellent. The home is as advertised. It has all the cooking tools you need. The video game console was a big hit. We would rent this home again. The view from the balcony at dusk is stunning.

what an amazing property! The pictures on the website do not do the view justice! the trees have been topped a bit showing the entire lake. the kitchen was where we spent a great deal of time together cooking. great equipment and accessories. the bed in the king room was very comfortable and another great view.garage parking also a plus. we hope to enjoy this property again.

Everything was great. Beautiful place with ample supplies. I really appreciated the high quality soaps and twinkling lights that greeted us when we arrived. Those are just some of the little extras. The view is amazing and we enjoyed ourselves so much that we hope to come back next year.

The view was excellent! We hosted a birthday party here, and everything went smoothly. The host responded quickly to any questions, and the place was clean and well-maintained.One thing I wasn’t aware of is that this property consists of two separate units stacked on top of each other, meaning the lower unit may also have guests. Additionally, the booking process was a bit unusual—navigating to another website for the contract and details felt a little confusing, making it seem like the reservation wasn’t directly through VRBO.Overall, though, I highly recommend this place!

Property had great views and purported to be luxury home but was at best a tired worn Luxury home Management presented an onerous 6 page "blanket" rental agreement with unreasonable or non applicable restrictions and provisions. To my dismay and not disclosure the property was shared with others in a lower basement unit We were surcharged for New Years stay which was expected but extra 15 fee for each additional guest was a bit excessive, and Management wanted an extra 20 to check in an hour early. At check in the pass codes to open doors didn't work and we had to than use the back up lock box key Some of the featured comforts where hard to figure out how to use like the gas fireplace, BBQ and the jacuzzi . The juke box was a nice touch but really didn't work right .There was no instruction manual or binder to describe the equipment or systems in the home -finally the the bed sheets where stained with cosmetics and other foreign material. We couldn't find any extra sheets or pillow cases. I would up load here but this review does not have this capability ? With some TLC and better orientation our stay could have been much better

This house had the best views of the lake and forrest from both levels. The beds are very comfortable and the kitchen is large with everything you need. Sky Park at Santa's Village is less than 10 minutes away and fun for the whole family. They have a bike park (lots of fun), hiking, a climbing wall, archery, axe throwing, and more. We were there after Memorial Day and there were very few people there.
Big Bear Lake is about a 40 minute drive and you can rent a boat there. Also, lots of hiking/biking trails.
Lake Arrowhead village is a 5 minute drive (>1 hour walking downhill) and there is a grocery store, shopping and restaurants on the waterfront. We had a great trip!

The house is great with lots of entertainment options for kids! We had an issue that came up and I was very impressed with how Lisa and her team handled it - they were very attentive and went over-the-top with providing solutions. Great house and great team, will definitely recommend!

We hit a few snags but overall my family was very happy with our 3 night stay. The location is great and there are many comfy spots to relax and take in the views. The TV and gas fireplaces were perfect, the living room comfortably seated 6, kitchen and dining area are huge and well-appointed and the downstairs beds were comfortable. Early check-in/late check-out, when available, costs extra. Online check-in is the most thorough I have experienced, requiring uploading a selfie and providing licence plate number(s) before receiving your access code. I'd recommend this for 1-2 compact to midsized car(s) because parking was extremely tight with our Tundra. I also recommend making sure you can turn on the tub faucet before you're cold, tired and ready for your soak. I messaged the owner with a few issues and she was very helpful.

The view of the lake is absolutely stunning, especially during sunrise and sunset. The house was fantastic and was a cozy abode to spend during this winter.

We had three adult couples for a 4 night/5 day stay in early/mid December. Booking, check-in and communication were very smooth and the description of the place is accurate. The two bedrooms with lake views had king size beds and adjoining bathrooms. The "main" bathroom has a jacuzzi tub with handheld shower head (not wall mounted). The other downstairs bathroom (as described) also has access from the hallway. The third bedroom has a queen-size bed and no adjoining bathroom. We were originally going to share the second downstairs bathroom but ended up using the full bathroom upstairs for the third bedroom since it was just as easy. The full bathroom upstairs is large with a glass shower.
The views are gorgeous. Full lake views from the dining room, living room and deck as well as two of the bedrooms. We spent most evenings at the dining table playing games and doing puzzles but could just as comfortably sat in the living room watching movies in front of the fireplace.
The kitchen had everything we needed. The only issue was that the water took awhile to get hot, which is understandable in a mountain home during winter.
We easily parked two mid-size suvs in the garage and one sedan in the driveway. The driveway is short and fairly steep so it could be a challenge to pull out if it was snowy or icy but we had crisp sunshine and didn't have any problems.
All in all, we had a wonderful stay and are discussing coming back next year at about the same time.

Our family of three enjoyed a nice getaway to the mountains in this home with spectacular views! It was clean and had great amenities like a foosball table which my son enjoyed. The only thing that was disappointing is that the jets in the tub didn’t work. Overall great stay.

Loved the Winter Wonderland!
Loved the Winter Wonderland!
This place was beautiful and the ppl helping us were great at communicating. We were unfortunately stuck in the winter storm and lost power but the gas fire place, water heater and stove kept us warm. Be prepared if you are driving during snow- we were not completely prepared for the hills on the road when it came to our vehicle but bringing sleds worked out here . We loved this place and hope to come back next year. Thank you so much for giving my kids a fun sledding week.

Beautiful home with breathtaking views, but… BEWARE! They aren’t honest and stole my money!
I was Informed 12 hrs before we flew out for vacation that we’d arrive to the home without power, but it would be on by 5pm. No flashlights or lighter to light the gas fireplace were left for us upon our arrival, even though they knew we would have no power.
At 5pm, its getting dark and cold, I called the power company to inquire when the power would be back on & the power company informed me that for the next two days the power will be out 8am-6pm & the owner was notified well in advance of this outage. I was never told this. When I confronted the owner and property manager about this they both acknowledged keeping this information from me, saying the power company rarely does what they say & they didn’t want to share the outage with me & have me panic & cancel my reservation. I would have cancelled.
I was unable to host friends for dinner due to no power, not to mention unable to prepare our own meals. We had to leave the house early and get ready for the wedding rehearsal down in the valley because we had no power. We were extremely inconvenienced for several reasons.
On the day we checked out, we requested a late check out in the afternoon. They had the cleaner show up before 11:30am. We quickly gathered our belongings & left, unable to enjoy our planned lunch meal.
There was more, but I will leave it here… it was a horrible experience for my family. This all could have been avoided if the property manager and host were honest about the condition of the home.
I requested a full refund to both the owner and property manager. Long story short, the owner said they would grant me one in a text and on the phone and asked that I leave them a good review, as bad reviews hurt them. And then one excuse after another lead to me receiving less than a full refund, which means Vrbo won’t refund their service fee so I’m out over $500 to stay in a home without power 3 of the 4 days.
I do not recommend renting this house or any of their properties. They aren’t honest & they take your money when they are the ones at fault. I also don’t recommend renting any properties the property manager manages.

Our two night stay at Castle 2
Location was pretty good and the size of the cabin was good. Rules are very strict so make sure you put used towels in washer, take our trash and squeegee the shower each time you take a shower etc.
We did come across some issues with cracked glasses, a broken space heater and some overlooked things. The 1st bedroom definitely needs a mirror outside the bathroom. Bring your own toiletries. They offer coffee with a coffee maker but its old coffee, so bring your own.

Modern in the Mountains
Modern in the Mountains
A well decorated, modern spot to enjoy your time near Lake Arrowhead. I chose to eat at the place instead of going out for dinner because the sunset over the lake is beautiful watch with nearly floor to ceiling windows. It’s a shared residence with another property upstairs but it felt secluded and there are no neighbors on one side of the property. It gave me the peace i was looking for with a short getaway trip.

The unit is adorable, my husband and I shared with another couple. Everything was absolutely perfect. One slight draw back is there is another unit above, and the walls are thin. You can hear just about everything.
