About this house rental

Set in the orchards of a fifteenth century manor house, the 'Laiterie' boasts fine views along the wooded valley of the River Touques in the beautiful Pays d'Auge area of Normandy. This architect-designed conversion of a former dairy incorporates traditional features and building materials in light and spacious rooms.
The house easily accommodates ten adults and three babies or very young children (in baby beds). The living space on the ground floor is open plan, with a large entry, a sitting area (3 sofas), a dining area (with a table extending from 6 to 12 seats), and a kitchen area (equipped with all appliances and accessories as well as room for storage). The space opens onto the terrace by way of a large bay window, with view on the garden and the fields. We advise you to look at the photos for a virtual visit!
The Laiterie has been specifically designed to accommodate people with reduced mobility: the ground floor bedroom and its en-suite bathroom/wetroom are furnished accordingly (elevated beds with adjustable recline, handrails in the bathroom, walk-in shower and shower chair). The ground floor and the two terraces are also easily accessible without obstacles.
On the ground floor there is also a laundry room with washing machine and dryer, as well as a toilet.
On the first floor are the three other bedrooms, a separate toilet and two bathrooms. Each bedroom has its own wardrobe and is spacious enough to add a baby cot (supplied on request). Two bedrooms have double beds (160cm) and the family room can be prepared either with 4 single beds or with 2 single beds and an extra large bed (180cm). The family room has an en-suite shower room and toilet. The other two bedrooms share a larger separate bathroom.

The 'Laiterie' has a large garden of its own and a split-level terrace designed to catch the sun from early morning to late evening. It is an ideal place to relax. The photos will show you the garden, ideal for children as it is equipped with a trampoline, a slide for toddlers and a swing. In summer we also provide a sandbox; the lid can be used as a small pool for toddlers. The house has two terraces to enjoy the beautiful weather. The terrace on the south side takes the sun from morning until about 6-7 pm in the summer. Lounge chairs will help you relax and soak up the good weather. The west side terrace has sunshine until it disappears over the horizon. Here you will find a large dining table and barbecue. It is the perfect place to enjoy a fine drink and a good meal at the end of a long day.

The Laiterie is located within a property of 13 hectares of pastures, just outside Pont l'Eveque, which is one of the last little towns in the region still having a very active center and lots of independent shops. There are butchers, charcuteries, bakers, pharmacies, restaurants, etc. But there are also numerous speciality shops, including a chocolate-maker and two intriguing hardware shops (the 'droguerie' and the 'quincaillerie') unique to Pont l'Eveque and for which people travel from afar to visit (don't miss these!). Pont l'Eveque is a beautiful little place, heavily damaged by the war, but well restored and definitely worth the trip. The Laiterie is also close to the historic port of Honfleur, the fishing port of Trouville and the sophisticated seaside town of Deauville, with its famous casino, hotel and designer shops (but don't worry, there's also a huge beach where the whole family can relax!) and within easy striking distance of Caen, Rouen, Bayeux or the D-Day beaches (all easy day-trips). The house is thus perfectly located to enjoy the beaches of the Côte Fleurie (Deauville, Trouville, Honfleur...) and the attractive countryside and villages of the Pays d'Auge. The house being in the countryside, having a car is an absolute must.

Babies and toddlers: We can provide (free of charge) 2 baby cots and 2 high chairs. All bedrooms are spacious enough to accommodate one baby cot. Babies and toddlers (if sleeping in a cot) do not count towards the maximum of 10 people in the house.

Home assistance and nursing services: A home assistance service provider operates in our area: it offers assistance in daily self-care tasks, such as eating, bathing, toileting, dressing, getting in and out of bed, etc. We can enquire about the cost of the service and book it for you should you wish.

Home nursing care can also be arranged for you. The cost is variable according to the medical care provided by the nurse (the cost should be reimbursed by the NHS when using a doctor’s prescription).

House cleaning services are available at a cost of €25 per hour.

The owner could not have been more attentive in making sure we found our way to this beautiful, rural location. The whole estate is Normandy at its best...an orchard nearby, white cows ambling in the field, a mass of roses out window as you eat. We all loved our stay!

    Amazing place

I was traveling with my 99-year old grandmother and my mother who is in a wheelchair. This house was accessible and beautiful all at the same time. My grandmother had just parted with her ancestral property so it was important to find a house that had as we say in French the 'charme de l'ancien' (the charm of the old). This house did not disappoint. Also, Katheryn was very responsive and pointed us towards pharmacies and at-home assistance to help us during our stay. We are very likely to come back again. Thank you.

This house was perfect for our late summer stay (3 couples and 2 infants). It had everything we needed, both inside and out, and the overall quality and cleanliness were very good. The setting is charming, with the orchards and cows surrounding the property. Close proximity to Pont-l'Eveque and Deauville, as well as some pretty nice golf courses!

    Cozy Country Home
    Cozy Country Home
We truly enjoyed our stay at La Laiterie. It is a very cozy home with beautiful views over apple orchards and farm fields. The home is perfectly situated to visit many beautiful Normandy towns and sights. During our 6 night stay we visited Mont St Michel, Honfleur, Juno Beach, Beny Sur Mer Cemetary and, of course, the neighboring town of Pont L'Eveque. The fireplace at the house was a bonus. Especially since the weather was quite rainy during our stay. A couple of suggestions I would make to the property owner are as follows: 1. Re-write the directions to get to the house in point form. The house is located in a rural area and a little hard to find. I programmed the location into my GPS using google maps as my guide. This lead us directly to the property but I failed to realize that further instructions were needed to access the property. The directions provided by the property owner included this information but since it was written in paragraph form, it was late at night when we arrived and I was suffering from travel fatigue I failed to see it. I realize this is not the property owners fault but I do think instructions written in point form would be easier to read and very helpful. 2. Add bug screens to the windows so windows can be left open at night without allowing bugs in. The house is not air conditioned and the bedrooms were rather warm. There were fans provided but it would have been nice to be able to leave the windows open at night. We tried to leave them open the first night but quickly closed them when several large wasp type bugs entered. Overall we truly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the property.

What can we say that hasn’t already been said? The Laiterie is very well appointed and caters for everyone’s needs. We loved the spacious garden with its two seating areas and the views are spectacular. This is a rare find and it is so well placed for visiting the many attractions of Normandy. There is a large supermarket nearby and the lovely town of Pont-l'Évêque is on its doorstep. We would very much like to make a return visit, as there is so much more to discover. We have found a base that we adore, the owners are lovely, on site whilst we were there but unobtrusive. This is by far the best holiday home that we have rented, we would happily recommend it to anyone who is thinking of staying in the area.

We enjoyed our time at the Laiterie which was well appointed ( it had enough of everything to cater for between 2 and 9 of us) and well positioned for Pont L'Eveque the surrounding towns and the beaches. While it did not spoil our enjoyment one of the bedrooms was a little warm ( perhaps the hot water cylinder could be lagged) and the noise from the nearby roads was a little intrusive in the garden (although not in the house)

Le Laiterie is a beautiful gite situated in a lovely part of Normandy. It is very comfortable, well equipped and spacious enough for large family groups. The countryside around the property is beautiful and the garden is large and well maintained. The owner is easily contactable and does everything possible to ensure that you enjoy your stay there. An added bonus is the charming town of Pont L'Eveque just on its doorstep. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at Le Laiterie and would recommend this property without hesitation.

Beautifully presented and provided for within easy reach of beaches and amenities. Lovely big garden suitable for all ages with good play equipment for children and loungers, BBQ and huge table for all. Good size bedrooms. Helpful friendly hosts nearby but unobtrusive and we had all the privacy we wanted. Beautiful; highly recommended .
