Tuscan Villa with A/C, WIFI and private swimming pool

We have just returned from a week at Montemagno with our 4 adult children and I can’t praise highly enough the villa, the location and the attentiveness of the host, Antonietta. The villa has everything you would need for a family of all ages or a group of friends, with a large pool, loungers, games equipment, barbecue and seating areas outside along with plenty of indoor space in a very lovely, spotlessly clean and well equipped country property. The house is situated only 5 minutes walk from the village centre, where Antonietta and her lovely family run a very popular restaurant serving delicious food. The location in the Tuscan hills is perfect for exploring Lucca, Pisa and the beaches along the coast in under 30 minutes (a car is essential). We received a very warm welcome and lots of advice on exploring the area which made our holiday one to remember. I would throughly recommend the property and we all agree that we will definitely be returning to Montemagno!

This place is just about all that a holdaying family or group can hope for: Beautiful property in typical Tuscan style, enchanting garden, secure premises, lovely location. Add to this a charming and extremely helpful host (Grazie Antonietta e Cesare!), and the recipe is complete for an excellent and restful stay. For the more adventurous, Versilia is a stone's throw away, as is Lucca and Pisa. Florence and other main Tuscan cities are also reachable, as well as the main airport. I highly recommend this property. We always change holiday rentals, but are seriously considering returning there next year.

Lovely property. House and grounds excellent. Owners are lovely. Very friendly and helpful. The owners’ restaurant (5 min walk) is fantastic!! We loved being able to walk to the restaurants near the house, the owner’s restaurant is especially good. The house is lovely with amazing gardens and pool area. Totally private and well situated for trips to the coast. The swings, table tennis, football and volleyball nets were constantly in use; a great property for families.

We just spend a fantastic holiday at Casa Castagnino. The house is in moderate-good condition and all basic facilities are there. Good wifi (a must for our children) inside. A delight to eat outside at the patio under the vineyards, bird sound, donkeys and dogs in the back ground. And a pool in which all 12 of us could play vollybeyball together. The administrators/owners will do all things necessary to make your stay unforgettable (just send them a message by Messenger). Cesare invited us on a discovery expedition to the nearby marshes to show us the wildlife. And Antonietta baked us a traditional apple pie twice and for our good bye, she made a sort of lovely little snacks. This place is well wordt the cost!

We had a lovely family holiday here for my mum's 70th. the photo's don't do the place justice. It is really beautiful, the gardens, pool, olive trees, views, outdoor eating space. Fantastic for both adults and children. The restaurant down the road owned by the host is fabulous and added bonuses are walks nearby and bikes at the property. Beautiful area too- I highly recommend this place!

We were 3 families with 2 kids each and had a wonderful stay at Villa Castagnino. The owners did everything they could to make sure we feel at home and comfortable. The house is decorated with lots of care for details and the garden is just fantastic. The kids loved running around and playing all day long. The pool area is lovely and we especially appreciated the covered terrace where we had breakfast, lunch and dinner. We can warmly recommend Villa Castagnino!

Een erg mooi huis.We waren met 3 families in de leeftijd vanaf 6 tot en met 81 jaar. Erg gezellig. Het huis is perfect. Een mooi zwembad, veel ruimte rondom het huis. Tafeltennis tafel, volleybal veld, voetbal veldje. Mooie verranda om gezellig te eten rondom een grote tafel onder de druiventrossen. Het huis zelf is gezellig en niet te groot, maar ruim genoeg voor het aantal mensen. Aantal zaken mogen wel een keer vervangen worden (gasfornuis; niet alle pitten deden het, pannen, ligbedjes bij het zwembad waren wat oud, douche wand in één van de badkamers was kapot). Maar geen dingen die voor veel problemen zorgen. Goede gastvrouw en aardige en vriendelijke attenties. Om in 1 week Toscane te ontdekken was helaas te kort. Dus wie weet komen we nog wel een keer terug.

This summer we stayed with some friends in this beautiful house in italy. Even if the weather was not always as good as we hoped, this was probably one of the most beautiful vacations we ever had. When we arrived at the house everybody was just impressed of the huge beautiful garden, the big pool and the pretty house itself. I never thought that you could find a vacation house in this price category that offers absolutely anything you need for a perfect vacation: a big pool with volleyball net, a table tennis table just some meters from the pool, a second volleyball net on the gras, a huge soccer field on the other side of the house (still inside the property), a sunbed for every guest, bikes…The terrace with integrated barbecue grill is also just perfect to spend the warm evenings and to have a breakfast in the sun. Even the house itself is just perfect. In the kitchen you find absolutely any equipment you need even if you want to cook for a big group, the rooms are really pretty and cosy in a typical Tuscan style and also wireless lan is provided. Everything was really like on the pictures and like written in the description. The house is situated in a good location so you can reach a big free and nice sand beach (next to Viareggio, with many parking spots) within half an hour and also the way to Pisa or Lucca is really not too far. Also the owners were sooo friendly and helped whenever we had any question or problem. They had the perfect mixture of on the one hand giving us the feeling that we could always contact them if there was any problem and on the other hand respecting our privacy so they were not disturbing us in any way or running around on the property/ in the house without giving notice in advance. Also the contact with the agent Sophia Longo regarding the booking/reservation and payment was always perfect. She answered promptly to all our questions via E-Mail and speaks perfect English. Like written before by some other guests there are really quite a lot dogs in this small village as you can hear from time to time but the seeing the many positive characteristics of this house I think this is just a tiny little beauty mark. Even if we had no children with us I think it is also the perfect place for families since the garden is so huge with lots of things to do inside the property which is completely surrounded by hedges, fences etc. So you can relax at the pool without being scared the kids are running around on a street.

What a wonderful villa this is, with loads of room and comfortable surroundings. We were treated to treats of limoncella, cakes and pastries during our stay which was a lovely touch. Being a group of 3 families, we wondered if we would all have enough of our own space, but needn't have worried - there was space a'plenty! The large grounds were wonderful for adults and children alike and the views simply stunning! We had good trips to Lucca (20mins) and Florence (recommend getting the train from Lucca - SO easy and cheap!) and explored the local hills. Recommend this idyllic setting +++!

My family group, consisting of my wife & I, daughter & parents have just enjoyed a wonderful October half term holiday in this property. The property description is accurate and the garden is simply vast, including a lovely pool, open grassed areas & pleasant views, etc. The weather was quite cold at night, although warm during the day. The central heating worked well & the property was soon up to & maintained at, a very comfortable temperature. With plentiful logs supplied, we nonetheless still enjoyed the fun of an open fire, most evenings. In all, a very clean, large, but still cosy property, that you looked forward to returning to, after a days sightseeing - with a real Tuscan feel to it in terms of design & decoration. The owners Antonietta & Cesare could not have been hospitable. As well as providing a welcome meal & bottle of wine for us, we had Chestnuts to roast on the fire, the logs were topped up to keep us in plentiful supply & the cakes cooked for us during the week were simply delicious. It was really important to them to ensure that we had an enjoyable experience & nothing seemed too much trouble for them. They were simply great! The owners restaurant, Le Meraviglie, really was just an easy 5 minutes walk from the property. Pricing was reasonable & the food was of good quality. Judging by the number of locals, it clearly has a good following! We enjoyed several meals there. The location was also good to act as a base to explore the northern part of Tuscany. Florence made for a comfortable day trip, with other attractions such as Pisa, Lucca, the Mountains, seaside, etc, all being within easy distance. So in all, an excellent property, in a small hamlet, which is well located to visit northern Tuscay. The owners could not have been more helpful & friendly. I would have no hesitation in recommending this property.

We really loved this place. It was clean and cozy. The garden is fantastic, many different spots to be. The pool is big and the area around the pool is really nice. The owner are the most kind and serviceminded persons, we enjoyed to order food at their restaurent as take away as we had small kids and didnt go out in the evening for dinner.

Wir waren mit der Familie für eine Woche in der Unterkunft und es hätte nicht schöner sein können. Haus und Grundstück sind ein Traum und die Vermieter sind super nett und herzlich. Ich kann mich den ganzen positiven Bewertu gen nur anschließen. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wieder kommen!!

Wir hatten eine wunderschöne Woche in diesem herrlichen Haus mit sehr netten Vermietern. In ihrem Restaurant um die Ecke „Le Meraviglie“, werden hervorragende und trotzdem günstige toskanische Gerichte angeboten! Unsere zwei kleinen Hunde konnten wir im Garten problemlos freilaufen lassen, da das Grundstück komplett eingezäunt ist. Die Küche ist für 12 oder mehr Personen ausgestattet. Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt und bedanken uns ganz herzlich ! Wir kommen wieder ! Liebe Grüße

Rigtig dejligt hus med meget plads og tilsvarende store grund med pool og fodboldbane

Nous avons passé une semaine géniale. La maison est agréable. Les propriétaires sont très sympathiques et nous avons mangé plusieurs fois dans leur restaurant qui offre un excellent rapport qualité/prix. Nous espérons retourner un jour!

Wir haben mit 9 Erwachsenen und 2 Kindern wunderbare 10 Tage Mitte Juni 2019 auf Antoniettas Anwesen verbracht. Die Gartenanlage und der Pool (Salzwasser) sind sehr gepflegt und werden mit liebe umsorgt. Im Juni hatte der Pool 29 Grad. Das Haus bietet bequem Platz für 12 Personen. Es sind genügend Stühle, Besteck, Teller etc. vorhanden. Es gibt 3 Doppelzimmer mit großen Doppelbetten und 2 kleinere Zimmer mit jew. 2 Einzelbetten. Jedes Zimmer hat seine eigene funktionierende Klimaanlage. Die Bettwäsche und die Betten waren sehr sauber. Die 3 Bäder haben alle Dusche und WC und waren auch sauber. An den Fenster waren überall Mückennetze. Im Garten gab es vereinzelt Mücken, hauptsächlich in der Dämmerung. Das Haus ist mit liebe zum Detail eingerichtet. Es hat sogar eine Alarmanlage so, dass man beruhigt auch mal ein Ganztagesausflug machen kann. Die Hunde bellen nachts vereinzelt aber nach 2 Nächten habe ich mich dran gewöhnt. Ich empfand es nicht als störend. Ein Ort zum Seele baumeln lassen. Wir haben das Anwesen (ca. 4000m2- alles umzäunt und mit Privatssphäre) sehr genossen. Der Ort Montemagno ist ein kleines Dorf in dem es aber 2 Restaurants (eins davon gehört den Eigentümern des Hauses-Mittwoch Ruhetag) und einen Tante Emma Laden gibt mit Getränke, Brot, Eis etc. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältniss bei diesem Objekt ist hervorragend. Achten Sie bitte auch auf die Zusatzkosten die bei der Ankunft zu bezahlen sind (Strom, Wasser, Gas, Kaution in bar)

Wir waren schon zum zweiten Mal hier und sind begeistert. Das Haus ist genügend groß für unsere Drei-Generationen-Familie und insbesondere der gepflegte Pool und der gemütliche Sitzplatz unter schattigen Reben mit Grill sorgten dafür, dass wir sehr viel Zeit ums Haus herum verbrachten. Die großartige Betreuung durch Antonietta und die feinen Leckereien, die sie immer mal wieder vorbei brachte, machte das Glück noch größer. Mille Grazie!

Sehr schönes Ferienhaus mit netten Vermietern. Italienischkenntnisse sind allerdings von Vorteil. Das Haus war sauber und ordentlich. Die Ausstattung gut. Zwei der Zimmer mit Einzelbetten sind allerdings nicht so groß und am besten für Kinder geeignet. Die Anfahrt zum Haus von Camaiore aus ist etwas kurvig. Die Lage trotzdem sehr gut, da man viel von hier aus machen kann. Zum Strand braucht man eine knappe halbe Stunde. Ebenso nach Lucca. Der Garten ist super toll. Sehr groß und gepflegt. Im Ort gibt es einen Bäcker und das Lokal von den Vermietern, sehr zu empfehlen. Nicht so schön sind tatsächlich die Hunde, die auf Dauer nachts wirklich nerven, wenn man das Fenster offen hat. Wir, 10 Erwachsene, würden jederzeit wieder hinfahren. Alles hat problemlos geklappt.

Wir (8 Erwachsene, 1 Kind + 3 kleine Hunde) waren für 3 Wochen in diesem wunderschönen Haus "Casa Castagnino". Die Villa hält, was sie verspricht und es ist reichlich Platz für alle vorhanden. Auch die Ausstattung der Küche ist top (genug Geschirr - Gläser, Teller, Besteckt etc.), was bei Ferienhäusern nicht immer gegeben ist. Das Grundstück selber ist sehr groß, sehr gepflegt und wurde liebevoll mit wunderschönen Pflanzen (Sommerflieder, Rosen usw.) gestaltet. Langweilig wird einem da nicht, denn man kann Tischtennis, Badminton, Volleyball oder Fußball spielen oder im großen Pool schwimmen oder einfach nur relaxen/lesen/sonnen. Liegestühle sind auch genügend vorhanden, was nicht immer selbstverständlich in Ferienhäusern ist. Die Besitzer Antoinetta und Cesare sind sehr nett, aber zurückhaltend, auch wenn sie ab und an zum Grundstück kommen, um den Pool oder die Pflanzen zu pflegen, haben wir das nicht als störend empfunden. Ein paar Mal haben sie sogar Kuchen gebracht, welcher sehr lecker war. Also im gesamten war es ein PERFEKTER Urlaub für uns alle und wir werden wieder kommen...

Wir waren mit 6 Erwachsenen und 5 Kinder 2 Wochen in der Villa Castagnino und es fiel uns schwer das schöne Haus für Ausflüge zu verlassen. Das Haus hat alles was man braucht und das Außengelände ist riesig und bietet alles was KInderherzen begeistert. Mittelpunkt ist der tolle, große Swimming Pool mit Wasserballnetz, indem wir jede Menge Spass hatten. ( Wasser hat eine erfrischende Temperatur). Durch die Lage in den Bergen war es abends angenehm kühl und somit gut zum Schlafen. Dass die Hunde in der Nachbarschaft gerne bellen, ist wahr, aber uns hat es nicht gestört. Das Haus steht in einem wirklich kleinen Ort und für die Fahrt ans Meer, zum nächsten Supermarkt oder nach Lucca( Lucca muss man sich ansehen) braucht man mit dem Auto durch die Serpentinen ca. 25 Minuten. Alles in allem ein wunderschöner Urlaub, an dem es nichts zu bemängeln gab und ein sehr empfehlenswertes Objekt mit freundlichen Besitzer, die uns mit Speisen uns Ratschlägen enorm verwöhnten. Danke

Siamo stati a Villa Castagnino per trascorrere Pasqua e Pasquetta in compagnia, 9 ragazzi dai 22 ai 26 anni. Villa meravigliosa, isolata ma non troppo, rustica ma tenuta perfettamente, pulita e accogliente. Giardino immenso e curatissimo, peccato per la piscina, bellissima ma chiusa a causa del periodo (aprile, 10/15 °C). Barbecue comodo ed utilissimo per una grigliata all'aperto con pomeriggio di relax al sole. Il luogo è anche ideale punto di partenza per una vacanza culturale (Lucca a 15/20 km) e per una vacanza al mare (Viareggio e Camaiore a 10/15 km). Siamo stati benissimo anche grazie all'accoglienza della Signora Antonietta, gentilissima e disponibile al punto di averci preparato Lasagne per il pranzo di Pasqua ed una fantastica torta per Pasquetta. Consiglio inoltre il ristorante le meraviglie dei proprietari, ottimo rapporto qualità/prezzo, 24€/persona per antipasti, primo, secondo, dolce caffe ed amaro. Ci ritornerei molto volentieri per un altra pasqua o anche per una settimana estiva.

Unsere Reisegruppe (9 Erwachsene, 3 Kinder) verlebte eine traumhafte Woche in der Casa Castagnino. Das Grundstück ist sehr schön angelegt und es macht einfach Freude sich dort aufzuhalten. Man kann sich auf unterschiedlichste Weise (Fußball, Volleyball, Tischtennis uvm.) die Zeit vertreiben aber meißtens spielt sich das Leben auf der schönen Terasse mit Außenküche und an dem riesigem Pool ab. Es fiel uns schwer das Anwesen zu verlassen und so wurden geplante Ausflüge einfach weggelassen. Das Anwesen liegt in einem kleinen Tal das zur Meerseite hin offen ist und so kam ab und an eine leichte kühle Brise auf. Tagsüber hatten wir immer 30 Grad und doch wird es abends frisch. Die Nachbarn sind praktisch unsichtbar und das von anderen Mietern angesprochene Problem mit den dauerhaft bellenden Hunden kann ich nicht bestätigen. Man hört gelegentlich Hunde aber wir empfanden das nicht als störend, was aber vielleicht auch daran liegt das wir selber Hunde besitzen. Die Vermieter sind wirklich sehr nett und gastfreundlich obwohl sich die Verständigung als schwierig erweist. Bei Ankunft, nach der schnellen Übergabeprozedur, erwartete uns schon ein gedeckter Tisch mit Wein, Käse, selbstgemachtem Brot und weiteren lokalen Spezialitäten. Ihr Restaurant 200m weiter können wir wärmstens empfehlen. Der Pool wurde gereinigt und uns wurde ein Kuchen vorbei gebracht. Ansonsten hatten wir aber keinen Kontakt bis zur Abreise. Die Rückgabe des Hauses ging extrem schnell. Montemagno ist ein kleines Bergdorf ohne nennenswerte Einkaufsmöglichkeiten. Für kleine Einkäufe sind wir nach Camaiore und für größere nach Viareggio gefahren. Erstaunlich viel Verkehr herrscht in Montemagno und man sollte aufpassen da die Autos extrem nah und schnell an einem vorbei fahren. Vor allem mit Kindern ist Vorsicht geboten. Alles in Allem ein toller Urlaub. Wir können die Casa Castagnino nur empfehlen und deshalb gibt es selbstverständlich 5 Sterne.

Wir - 8 Erwachsene, 1 Kind, 1 Hund - haben die letzte Juli Woche 2011 hier verbracht und sind rundum zufrieden und erholt nach Hause gereist. Die Villa sowie der Garten und der Pool waren in einwandfreiem Zustand. Antoinetta und Cesare sind sehr gastfreundlich; haben uns sogar Kuchen gebracht und sich gut um alle Anliegen gekümmert. Deren Gasthaus ist nur ein paar Meter entfernt und die Antipasti sind wirklich sehr zu empfehlen. Fein ist auch, dass viele kleinere und größe Städte in der Nähe sind und somit für jeden Geschmack etwas dabei ist. Camaiore ist ganz in der Nähe und ein wirklich nettes Altstädtchen mit allem was man braucht. Wir sind alle begeistert von der schönen Villa und können diese nur weiter empfehlen. Einzigst: wenn sich jemand durch Hundebellen belästig fühlt ist das wahrscheinlich die falsche Gegend, da sich viele "Nachbarn" Hunde halten.

Ich verbrachte in einer Gruppe mit 9 Erwachsenen und 3 Kindern eine traumhafte Woche in diesem Haus. Es ist einfach alles da, was man braucht und dadurch, dass das Grundstück komplett umzäunt ist, können die Kinder schön herumtollen, ohne dass die Eltern sich sorgen müssen. Sehr nette Vermieter; für die Kommunikation sind allerdings Italienisch-Kenntnisse von großem Vorteil. Platz gibt es in rauhen Mengen, vor allem im Außenbereich zum Toben und Spielen. Der Pool ist wunderschön, die Liegen sind in einem guten Zustand und ausreichend vorhanden. Die Zimmer sind total schnuckelig und alles war bei unserer Ankunft tiptop sauber. Ein großes Plus: Spül- und Waschmaschine! Alles in allem perfekt! Der einzige Wermutstropfen für Leute, die die absolute Ruhe suchen: Auf einen Einwohner von Montemagno kommen gefühlte drei Hunde. Und die sind vor allem nachts ein echter Störfaktor, denn sie bellen fast ununterbrochen. Aber wen stört das schon richtig, wenn alles andere so schön ist?!? Im nächsten Jahr will ich unbedingt wieder dort hin!
