About this apartment rental
A warm welcome to our self-catering one-bed holiday apartment to let in a quiet suburb of La Rochelle, 15 mins leisurely walk from the stunning city centre, and 2 mins from local shops and cafes. We are sure you will love your stay with us. The apartment (approx 32m2) is in very pleasant surroundings, and forms part of a new residence known as "La Residence du Petit Puits" with a 9m salt water swimming pool shared between four apartments (Please note: the swimming pool is open for the months of July and August only). This is a welcoming base from which to explore this thriving and beautiful town without the hefty hotel charges. It can comfortably sleep two couples or a family of four, with the upstairs bedroom on an open wooden mezzanine level and its double bed and the sofa bed downstairs in the living room on the ground floor. TV and free WIFI. La Rochelle is the most attractive city on the West Coast of France. The Charente Maritime area, like the Vendee, enjoys a 'micro-climate' of temperatures similar to those on the South Coast of France.

Bus lines 11 (https://yelo.agglo-larochelle.fr/bus/lignes-horaires/-/horaires-bus/ligne/periode-scolaire/23706) and 6 (https://yelo.agglo-larochelle.fr/bus/lignes-horaires/-/horaires-bus/ligne/periode-scolaire/23702) stop directly next to the Residence. It takes 5 minutes to get to the Place de Verdun in the centre of La Rochelle (it takes about 20 minutes by foot for the same trip). The bus stop is "La Vallée". For cycle paths, they exist everywhere in La Rochelle. Here is a map of the bike trails on which I marked the location of our Residence with a small red star. We stayed in the two storey apartment with an ample sized bedroom upstairs, downstairs provided excellent cooking and resting facilities. The whole area was a credit to the owners, clean and litter free. At no point did we feel anything but completely relaxed. There are 3 supermarkets within easy walking distance and La Rochelle centre was a pleasant 20 minute walk. If you have a vehicle there are some lovely local areas to visit with easy access to the main route. I wholeheartedly recommend a break here even if you just like to lie on a sunbed all day as the sun is on the property almost from sunrise.

We realized when reserving the apartment that it was on 2 levels. Although my wife has some mobility problems she manages the stairs at home very well but we did not realize that the bathroom was on the ground floor. This became a problem during the night coming down the stairs which had open treads. Another problem we had was that in the bedroom there was a large part-folded bed which gave us very little space. In the kitchen/living area there was a small bed settee was very low and uncomfortable. The apartment was stated to be for 4 people but we felt that it was more suitable for 2 people or a family with small children.
In spite of these problems we had a good holiday but unfortunately the property was not what we expected and we will not be returning.
