About this apartment rental

Fantastic, top-floor, two-bedroom apartment in a beautiful, old building in the very, very heart of Dublin City. Dublin City is quite literally at your fingertips! This is the best located Airbnb listing in Dublin - and that's no exaggeration. Top-floor, TWO-BEDROOM apartment in an Edwardian building right in the heart of Dublin city's old historic centre. It has unique won't-find-anywhere-else views of Dublin Castle and City Hall, two of Dublin's most iconic historic landmarks. The building is on Dame Street in Dublin 2, and is just a couple of minutes (or less) walk from all of Dublin's historic, cultural, social and tourist attractions. The apartment is full of history, tradition and character. It occupies the top floor of an old Edwardian building, located midway along Dame Street, which links Trinity College to Christ Church Cathedral. As well as views over Dublin Castle and Dublin City Hall from the living room and one bedroom, the other bedroom looks west towards Christ Church Cathedral. Where else would you get it? The apartment has been completely renovated in recent years (so has all the modern conveniences you could want, including fast WiFi internet connection, central heating, an electric shower and a fully-fitted kitchen), its original period features have been preserved (including solid oak wood flooring in the living room and bedrooms, granite stone flooring and a wonderful Belfast sink in the kitchen, and large sash windows in every room). It has two bedrooms (one with a double bed, the other with two single beds), a decent-sized living room with a kitchen off and a bathroom. Every room has large sash windows characteristic of the Edwardian era (early 1900s), so the apartment is full of natural light (if you're lucky, sunshine too!) from early in the morning until late in the evening. Everything you might need (bed linen, towels and kitchen items) is provided, as well as a small library of books on Dublin. Free 30Mb Wifi. You have access to everything and everywhere - it's all yours. I'll meet you when you arrive to say hello, give you keys, show you around the apartment, tell you what's what in the area and answer any questions. After that, if you need anything or have any questions, you can phone or email me. Always available and happy to help! Have a glance at a map of Dublin and you'll see that Dame Street is right in the centre of everything that Dublin has to offer. Trinity College is at one end of Dame Street (3 minute walk from the apartment) and Christ Church Cathedral is at the other (2 minute walk in the other direction). On one side is Dublin Castle and City Hall, and on the other is Temple Bar. All other notable parts of the city – such as Grafton Street area, St Stephens Green, Merrion Square, O'Connell Street – are within a 10-15 minute walk. As well as being immersed in Dublin's history and culture, you're surrounded by the best cafes, restaurants, pubs and shopping in Dublin. One of the things that previous guests have all remarked on is that they didn't need to use public transport at all - no buses, no trains, no taxis. Very genuinely, you can walk anywhere in the city centre within a matter of minutes. Dublin City is quite literally on your doorstep! However, if you want to travel further afield, there are 3 taxi ranks on Dame Street itself (mere seconds away); there's a Dublin Bikes station across the street; dozens of bus routes within 50 metres; Jervis LUAS (tram) station is 5 minutes walk, and Stephen's Green LUAS (tram) station is 8 minutes walk; and Tara Street and Pearse Street DART (train) stations are both less than 10 minutes walk. If you're looking to travel out of Dublin, you can be in Connolly Station, Heuston Station or Busaras within 10-15 minutes. It's also a 2 minute walk from the Aircoach's Trinity College/College Green stop (Aircoach is an express airport-to-city bus service, which runs every 10 minutes and will get you to or from the airport in just 20 minutes). Standard check-in is at any arranged time between 3pm and 8pm. Because I can't personally do a check-in after 8pm, check-ins after 8pm are subject to a €50 fee to cover the cost of paying someone to meet you. Check-ins cannot be before 9.30am. Standard check-out is before 10am on the day of departure. If you're arriving into Dublin very early in the morning or departing late in the day, please consider the 3pm check-in time/10am check-out time before booking. Unfortunately, there is no luggage storage facility in the building. For those who need to store luggage before check-in or after check-out, I recommend Tourist Office Dublin (almost directly opp. the Front Gate of Trinity College Dublin at 37 College Green, Dublin 2, which is a 2 minute walk from the apartment). They'll store luggage here in a secure lock-up for a small fee. Please also consider that this apartment is in the very heart of Dublin City. Genuinely, its location can't be exaggerated - you won't find a better located listing on Airbnb. There are hundreds of positives to this, but there a couple of negatives too: for one, there is no parking in the building (but if you're likely to need parking, let me know and I'll tell you the various options). Also, you have to expect that such a central location won't be exactly tranquil - there'll be the usual 'sounds of the city' and there's nothing anyone can do about it, I'm afraid! If this is likely to be an issue for you, let's talk about it before you book.

We stayed here in early September at the start of our 3 week tour of Ireland, it has a great location and very walkable to places like Jamesons, Guinness Storehouse, and Temple Bar. Lots of coffee, pastries, pubs, etc nearby. Would stay here again if in the area.

Location was great! Restaurants and bars surrounded the area. Someone was meeting us to check in but I wasn’t given that information. I was told to punch in a code at the keypad and we’d be buzzed in (it didn’t work). It took about 5 minutes for the person checking us in to confirm she was waiting for us. Bed was very hard. Toilet didn’t flush properly. Wind blew in from the skylight in bathroom. Paint peeling. Krupps coffee maker didn’t work. No hot water in kitchen sink or bathroom sink. No instructions on how to turn on the heat, although there was only one day we wanted it on. No paper towels. Only one small hand towel in kitchen. No microwave. Easiest checkout process of our trip. This place could be fantastic! Just needs a little work.

The photos are accurate but can’t express the noise factor of the location. It’s loud all night with revelers, ambulances and construction. This was to be expected being so close to the Temple bar neighborhood, but made more intense as we needed the windows open for air as we experienced an unusual heat spell and there’s no AC. There were 2 fans that helped immensely. Beds were hard and pillows not the best. The living area was fine and the coffee provided was excellent. Location is great for getting around on foot, just bring ear plugs!
