About this house rental

Located only 3 exits from the stadium and campus, the house offers 5 bedrooms and 2.5 baths with plenty of private off-street parking. There are 2 living rooms and a large kitchen with plenty of space for entertaining. Enjoy the wood fireplace and bring your fishing poles to enjoy a campfire while you fish in the pond. The master bedroom connects to the adjacent bedroom and shares a bathroom making it a perfect room for families. A private setting that is still 5 minutes from shopping (Target, Walmart) in eating (Ottos) Indoor fireplace, WIFI, free parking, EV outlet, washer and drier.

The house was clean and spacious. The unfortunate part was the beds… too many full beds which are not conducive to couples sleeping and they were not quality mattresses…. No one had a good nights sleep- an upgrade would get you closer to 5 Star. Also a simple replacement of broken blinds would enhance the look of the rooms!

Everything was fine with the house, until we went to check out. We parked our cars in the driveway per the hosts instructions; however, there is a black walnut tree above that area. When we went to leave, we realized 2 of our vehicles had damage from the walnuts falling off the tree onto the cars. One car had a cracked windshield and the other had 6 dents on the hood of the car. The host was unwilling to help or contribute anything to repair the damages. So BEWARE when renting in the fall; DO NOT park near the garage.

Property was perfect for our group of families with girls competing at a Cheer Competition at Bryce Jordan Center. It was a short drive and gave us space to hang out, cook meals and relax when we weren’t competing.

Stayed three nights for keystone states wresting championships. Very clean. Easy to find. We shared the house with another family having two separate living rooms gave the adults and kids their own spaces.

We had a good restful week at Happy Valley Retreat! We had plenty of room for all 8 of us. We discovered the walking/ biking trail across from the house. It snowed during oir stay and the house was so beautiful and warm!

We stayed here for a week with our three adult children and spouses. We appreciated the great location, spacious rooms, and comfortable furnishings on the main floor. The kitchen (which we understand is about to be replaced) was in poor condition and missing many basics (like kitchen towels and oven mitts.) There were other issues: mold in the bathroom, a badly sagging mattress, thin and worn bath towels, loose doorknobs, etc. - all have been reported to the host. Despite these issues, the roomy main floor was a great place for all of us to gather for the holidays.

Our friend group lives all over the state, so we met here for a visit. The house was really nice, had easy parking, and plenty of room for all 6 of us. We had a lovely trip. We didn’t plan on doing much in State College, but it was only a short drive away if we needed anything. The host was easy to reach when we had questions.

Very nice stay. Comfortable house. Plenty of room and comfortable beds. Nice bathrooms and towels. Kitchen very adequately stocked with dishes, cookware etc. Would have liked blankets on beds. The many light switches throughout house could have been labeled a bit. Powder room light bulbs were very dim. Roku TV did not work. Great location and it was just what we needed for our Penn State Weekend.

The Happy Valley Retreat was a great place to stay for our large family. The spacious house was a great open area for our family to connect, play, and enjoy each other's company. Close enough to the stadium and all campus activities while also being out of the way for our kids to enjoy time outside between events.

Easy drive to downtown state college and beaver stadium. While we didn’t spend a ton of time out the house we enjoyed the small porch out back, big living room and dining room. House was clean and much bigger than expected! Would definitely rent again!

This was a great stay and would definitely recommend for any group needing a place to stay near State college. The house was clean everything worked and all the rooms are upstairs which was nice to have separation from the living room. It gave us the rural feel of PA with out being in the rural distance to State College!

House was run down, dirty and furniture was in very poor condition. Pictures were deceiving. Was unhappy and didn’t want to stay there owner was unwilling to compromised in anyway. Owner and property manager play off each other directing you back and forth to each other to avoid dealing with the issues at hand.

The first night we discovered very active squirrels in the ceiling and walls of the home. Their constant scratching was very annoying. The owner finally got a pest company out on the 3rd day of our stay. Centrally controlled lighting was another oddity of the property. Master switches in the master bedroom controlled power to the light switch he’s throughout the house. We never did figure out how to turn on the overhead lights in the kitchen and above the sofa. Finally we had to text the owner for ability to control the thermostat locally. He gave us ability to drop the temp 3-4 degrees which was very helpful at night but would have liked to have complete control. Despite these couple of issues we did enjoy our stay.

Located in a quiet neighborhood and close to the west side of town.. Like every farmhouse it has its own character..very roomy. The grill worked fine and so did the electric stove. ..It served its purpose and beats a motel hands down...
