About this cottage rental

The 2 gites of la Lucaziere are located one and a half hours south of the ferry port of Ouistreham and 35 minutes from Le Mans. They are set in grounds which form part of a 400 acre organic estate with its chateau, meadows and extensive woodland. The owners of the gite live in the chateau, far enough away to allow you privacy but on hand if required.
The local village of Mont saint Jean is less than 1 km away and has a bar and a small shop as well as a boulangerie.
The local area offers many attractions. The lake and beach of Sille le Guillaume is just 5 km from la Lucaziere, there you can enjoy sailing, ,pedalos, pleasure bikes or simply relax at one of the bars with a glass of wine! Nearby, the picturesque village of St Leonard du Bois offers kayakng and superb hiking and cycling routes as well as some lovely restaurants. There are many other beautiful villages in the area to be explored.
But if it is peace and tranquility that you require why not just lase around the heated pool at la Lucaziere. Unlimited fibre optic internet is connected to the Gite.

We were two families staying at the gite, and thoroughly enjoyed the pool and other facilities including the games box with rackets for table-tennis, badminton etc. This is a very quiet area, and at night we could watch the stars, and listen to the owls in the trees. Very peaceful. The gite met all our needs (although stairs to the 2nd floor bedrooms are rather steep so just be mindful of this if you have younger children or people with mobility issues). Would highly recommend this lovely gite if you want somewhere to just relax and get away from it all. The Sille plage (beach) nearby was great, and we spent a few days there in the sun.

Anita was an absolute pleasure to meet and was attentive with any requirements, bice atnosphere and a nice rural setting, pool is really nice and the Château in the grounds is beautiful. A really great holiday home, do consider it is quite remote from major towns/cities so a car and some travelling is essential to get around.

Lovely gite with brilliant facilities in a superb beautiful location. Enjoyed the swimming pool daily as well as the badminton and table tennis equipment. Gite ideally located for exploring the local area; Le Mans (including the 24 hours museum) Zoo de la Fleche and Jublains roman village amongst others. Richard and Anita were very helpful and welcoming, already considering returning to explore the surrounding area more!

This is such a beautiful area of France, and relatively undiscovered by tourists. We loved the property and the pool, bear in mind it is shared with the second gite and château but there was never any antisocial behaviour, in fact it was fun to meet the other guests. Richard and Anita are charming and welcoming. The gite we stayed in was comfy and had all we needed. The nearby plage at Sille was lots of fun and we also did loads of walks. We’d love to come back.

We stayed for five nights in mid September. The weather was glorious with plenty to enjoy in the local towns and villages. Anita and Richard were very friendly and relaxed hosts, and our property had everything that we needed. With the weather being so hot the swimming pool was especially welcome.

We spent a lovely week in August in Grooms Cottage. Anita and Richard are fantastic hosts - they allowed us to look around their beautiful chateau, and we had some lovely walks in the grounds and orchards. The pool is a great size and the cover helped on some slightly cooler days, worth noting that the pool is shared with chateau guests and the other rental property. Richard has a number of inflatables he regularly blows up for guests which is a lovely touch! The cottage itself is very spacious especially the bedrooms and the original character really stands out. The furnishings etc are fairly basic, but the kitchen was well equipped. We had a lovely, relaxing week exploring the local area and would recommend to others who want their own piece of rural France for a week. Thanks again to Anita and Richard for sharing their home.

Grooms Cottage is an interesting, historic and comfortable gite in a converted stables. The layout was perfect for us, with two double bedrooms (on separate floors) and two bathrooms - all very well equipped. The gite was very clean and tastefully furnished, with modern bathrooms and kitchen yet in keeping with the historic building. Anita and Richard (the owners) made us feel very welcome and were happy to supply any information we needed. The pool was great! We also spent some time exploring the grounds and spotting wildlife. It's only a short walk to the boulangerie (Mont Saint Jean), but we thoroughly enjoyed the fresh croissants that Anita kindly delivered each morning. The welcome pack was also much appreciated. Our nearest supermarket was 20mins drive at Sille Le Guillame - a large Super-U. Given the fabulous weather we spent most of our time relaxing by the pool and wandering around the grounds; although we did (on Anita's advice) take a drive up to St Leonard-des-Bois (a very pretty village) where you can go rock-climbing or kayaking, and spent a pleasant evening listening to a live band by the lake at Sille. In summary, this is a fabulous gite in very peaceful surroundings, managed by charming hosts, and we would love to return.

The gite is within the grounds of Chateau de La Lucaziere just out side of Mont Saint Jean. The accommodation is comfortable with the bonus of a heated pool. One of the owners Anita brings you pastries in the morning for the local bakery which is a lovely touch. The owners Anita and Richard always have time for you and are very welcoming. The grounds of the Chateau are beautiful and it is a lovely walk down to the small fishing pond and stream. Nearby is a lake with all the actives a family of varying ages would require. I look forward to returning again sometime in the future.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 10 day stay; the house was spacious, comfortable and well-equipped. The garden and pool were fantastic; plenty of room and sun loungers for guests to enjoy and certainly well-used by us and our four children, as were the boules sets and ping pong table that were provided. The hosts were welcoming, friendly & helpful. They gave us lots of suggestions for places to visit and things to do in the surrounding area; lots of which we did and enjoyed.

We were looking for a place that embodied the true French countryside experience. WE FOUND IT ! This is a beautifully restored vintage out building, complete with Grand Prix plaques to prove it. Adjacent to the beautiful Chateau La Lucaziere just outside Mont-Saint-Jean. A comfortable ride to the Loire Valley, Mont St. Michelle, and Normandy beaches. We did all three, but on separate days. Our Host, Anita, was most gracious. The accommodations are updated to modern standards and were better than expected. We highly recommend this gite for the perfect getaway.

Deer came out of the woods and the foxgloves were delightful.Our owners brought us fresh bakery each morning and the welcome pack was the best. We were left sparkling wine, milk, butter,juice, condiments plus tea and coffee.We had a great start with a day by the pool which was very much enjoyed but the middle of our nine days we had the hail and cold wet weather but it all changed back again.The lake called Coco beach has sailing and pedaloes plus electric bikes for hire. Nearby the town Sille Le Guillaume has a good Super U and market day on Wednesday. We visited St Suzanne twice and had two great lunches for around 13 Euros . One in the town centre and the other by the main car park, a Logis.Our hosts Richard and Anita work hard but have time to talk and help you.There is no heating and stone floors but the place is rented out just for the summer. Wifi worked well but at present from the driveway which in the rain a no go area. Richard is working on this with new ideas for connection.There is plenty of area around the two Gites for children to play.We were just two people in the Gite and can only speak for having lots of space.Despite a broken wrist at present Anita manages the Chateau for B and B and takes care of all her guests. We were so pleased to be invited to see the progress they have made with the Chateau and had time to chat over drinks.

We booked a 12 night stay and enjoyed every moment for beginning to end. Anita and Richard were the perfect hosts and really did look after us for the whole stay. The gite was very clean and comfortable and had all of the amenities and facilities that we needed. It accommodated seven very easily with enough space for everyone. The kitchen had everything we needed although the bbq was used more than anything. The morning croissants and baguettes were a perfect start to the day with the local supermarket only 8km away.The pool was superb and such a bonus as we had two very hot weeks. The local area is ideal for cycling although undulating country side makes it challenging on occasion and perfect for relaxing walks in the nearby forest. The bars and restaurant at the local lake in the forest, only 5km away, provides some night life if you need it.The local villages and country side are very pretty and well worth a trip out if you need to do more than relax by the pool. If you are looking for the perfect relaxing holiday in peaceful surroundings then I would thoroughly recommend a stay here. I am booking two more weeks for next year!

Beautifully clean accommodation in a lovely building, very quiet and the pool is fab. Our family of two adults, one 16year old one 4year old and one 2year old all had a super time. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone who wants to get away from it all and enjoy quality family time together. The accommodation is very comfortable and well thought out, everything you might need is provided and the provision of fresh bakery goods delivered to the door every morning was such a treat. Beautiful rural area but some lovely towns in the vicinity and an easy drive from Calais. Owners couldn't do enough to help - were on hand as and when needed but respectfully distant when not, very friendly and happy to share knowledge of area. Thank you for a wonderful holiday and for sharing your beautiful place. Arthur hash't stopped asking for a dog 'like Ellie' since we got home which is a huge step for a boy who was afraid to even go near a dog before we left!

Having had a long drive up from the south of France for the 2nd part of our holiday, it was very pleasing when we drove down the track towards La Lucaziere, on the right we had a lovely view of the property and, as 1st impressions go, we knew it would be great. Driving on past we came to Anita and Richards beautiful chateau, who were sitting out side and invited us to join them for drinks, which was another great 1st impression as both Anita and Richard were very friendly and easy to chat with. Our only regret is that we were not staying for longer than our 4 nights, originally 3 but arrived 1 day early, and had planned a visit to Disney, so did not have any time to explore the beautiful local area. However what we did see together with local knowledge given gladly from Anita and Richard, confirmed we will certainly be re booking to enjoy this great area. The Gite provided all we needed for a comfortable stay and the pool with sun loungers were enjoyed by all of us. Anita has done a great job renovating this gite and i'm sure the reaming units will be as nice.

This accommodation is absolutely gorgeous. The property has been restored and decorated beautifully and credit to the owners who have kept so much charm of the building. The outside area is maintained to a high standard and is truly peaceful. The pool is lovely and just what you need in the lovely warm sun! The owners could not have been any more helpful, any friendlier or any more welcoming than they were. They were on hand for absolutely any query and the fresh pasteries each morning were delicious! Many thanks for a truly fantastic holiday. My whole family would heartily recommend this property.

From the minute we made the booking, our every need was taken care off. We arrived in the early hours of the morning and Anita had made sure we had the necessary directions to get to the gite and also that we had easy access to the building. All sorted. The fridge was ready stocked with basic supplies (juice, milk, butter) and there was tea and coffee provided for our first morning. As if that wasn't enough, we then were delivered fresh pastries and a baguette each morning from the local boulangerie - amazing! We went on a cycling holiday so provided you don't mind a few (!) hills here and there, this will be an ideal holiday for you. Although we were out most days, the gite was super secluded and a complete suntrap - ideal for those looking for pure R&R and to not be disturbed! Anita and Richard are excellent hosts and really do look after you, while giving you your privacy on your holiday. I am also particularly fussy about where I holiday and like things to be just so - and this covered exactly that. It was the best holiday we have had in a long time and we are sure to be back in the not too distant future!

Nous avons passé un agréable séjour chez Anita qui est très accueillante ! Nous avons aimé la piscine, le grand extérieur et le grand calme de la maison. La localisation de la maison était très bien aussi, proche de Sille le Guillaume pour la plage, activités nautiques et accrobranches. Nous avons pu aussi nous promener dans les beaux villages des alpes mancelles et apprécier les jolis paysages.

In een prachtige bosrijke omgeving gelegen gite. Maakt deel uit van een gebouw, aan de andere kant is ook een gite. Gedeeld zwembad was groot genoeg voor alle huurders. Elke morgen stokbrood en chocolade broodjes aan de deur. Heerlijk. In het dorpje is ook een bakker. Woensdag dicht. Verder veel in de omgeving te doen. Le Mans ligt op 3 kwartier rijden. Veel middeleeuwse dorpjes en stadjes in de buurt. Aanrader Fresnay en Sainte Suzanne.

Château de la Lucazière ligt in Mont-Saint-Jean, nabij Sillé-le-Guillaume. De steden Le Mans en Alençon liggen op 40 minuten rijden. Het kasteel is bedoeld voor ‘Bed and Breakfast’. Het is heel mooi gerestaureerd. Er zijn duokamers en familiekamers. De eigenaars zijn supervriendelijk en heel behulpzaam! Die mensen doen er alles aan om hun gasten een topvakantie te bezorgen. Ze zijn Engelstalig, maar ze spreken ook Frans. Wij (2 ouders met 2 zonen van 10 en 13 jaar) verbleven een week in een gîte (voor 6 pers). De gîte was heel proper gepoetst, er zijn 3 ruime slaapkamers, 2 badkamers met douche, volledig ingerichte keuken, tv, ventilators op de kamers, BBQ, … Kortom, alles wat we nodig hadden was er. Er was nog een tweede gîte voor 7 personen beschikbaar. Het domein is erg rustig gelegen in een prachtige natuur. Het is erg kindvriendelijk. Er is een omheind en verwarmd zwembad, terrasmeubels, tafeltennis, jeu de boules, … Er is wifi op het domein, maar niet in de gîte. De prachtige natuur op het domein (bos, planten, vogels, water, …) is echt een grote meerwaarde! Men komt er echt tot rust. In de omgeving zijn er talrijke mooie stadjes (15-20 min. rijden). Bijvoorbeeld: Fresney-sur-Sarthe, Sillé-le-Guillaume (met recreatiedomein Sillé Plage), Gesvres, Saint-Leonard-du-bois, ...
