Penelope Corfu Suite

Lovely apartment in a safe residential area. 5 minute walk to a quiet beach where the locals swim, 5 minute walk to several small grocery shops and a few lovely places to eat. About a 10 minute drive to Corfu town which was our choice as we preferred not to be in the busier parts and experience a bit of local life. Was nice to go to town then come back and sit on our private little garden. The hosts are amazing and exceptionally helpful. Everything was clean and tidy and water, biscuits and juice waiting for us was a nice touch. Air conditioning throughout the apartment, which was essential and much appreciated as there was a heatwave. Really enjoyed our stay can't fault it.

We were eaten alive by bugs despite bug spray etc, but that's not the fault of the hosts at all. We are obviously very tasty.!!

Das Apartment war sehe hübsch eingerichtet. Die Küchenausstattung hätte etwas üppiger sein können. Aber es war ausreichend. Der Garten und die Terrasse waren sehr schön. Allerdings konnten wir sie nicht nutzen, da das Wetter nicht so toll war. Die Lage des Apartments war richtung Westen und Anfang Oktober kam nur in der früh wenig Sonne hin. Die Hinnelsrichtubg muss allerdings für den Hochsommer perfekt sein, weil es dann in der Wohnung kühl bleibt. Für unsere Wetterpech, wars halt leider nicht so optimal. Aber dafür kann ja das Apartment nichts. Die Lage ist dafür wirklich sehr gut gelegen. Man findet ohne Probleme einen Parkplatz. Die Nähe zum Meer, zur Mühle, zur Aussicht, zur Altstadt, perfekt. Das erste Foto ist die Aussicht vom rückwärtigen Zimmer. Und ein Foto ohne durchfahrende Autos.

Durch die Lage/trübes Wetter war es im Aparment sehr kühl und klamm. Mit der Klima zu heizen, hat dies aber gelöst. Das Apartment liegt, dass war uns aber vorher bekannt, an einer Einbahnstraße in der auch der öffentliche Bus durchfährt. Es fuhr aber auch jeder anderer Bus und Auto das Richtung Kanoni wollte durch die Gasse. Draussen sitzen war also eher mit Verkehrlärm verbunden, war aber wegen des Wetters, eh nur am erstan Tag möglich. Es ist eigentlich eine Durchzugsstrasse. Aber die Nähe zur Altstadt, zum Meer und überhaupt die Lage, entschädigen so manches.

The apartment is well set out and furnished, with all the internal facilities you could want. The location (Garitsa) gives easy access to a lovely promenade walk into town, good local restaurants and the Mon Repos beach (best in Corfu Town but not good). The owner (Petty) was very responsive and helpful.

The photos on Booking.com show an apparently lovely terrace with sunbeds. Unfortunately, it is closely surrounded by very untidily overgrown bushes, it only gets sun for a couple of hours late morning and is next to a very busy and noisy road, so any hope of peaceful relaxation is futile. That was our main disappointment as we had expected to have access to the lovely sun terrace the photos had indicated. The issue of noise also impacted breakfast and late night drinks at the table on the terrace. Nothing the owners can do but it does impact the experience the Booking.com post leads you to expect.
