About this house rental
Bellwood Cottage is perfect for couples, families, or groups of friends looking to get away from it all in an private, idyllic setting. Great for all seasons and close to skiing (20-40 min from Plattekill, Belleayre, Hunter and Windham), hiking, fishing, swimming holes, restaurants and quaint towns. Walk to downtown Roxbury and Kirkside Park via the scenic rail trail.
Close to all wedding venues - 4 miles to Roxbury Barn, 7 miles to Stone Tavern Farm, 4 miles to The Inn at West Settlement.

THE SPACE:
The cottage has recently been updated to inspire both relaxation and adventure - cozy, inviting, and nothing too fussy. Everything has been chosen with a combination of the Catskills and a vintage Americana aesthetic in mind. The kitchen has been completely redone, with subway tile, farmhouse sink, and butcher-block countertops (note - no dishwasher). It's cozy enough for a couple/ small family, but can accommodate bigger families or groups of friends, with a dining area, 3 living spaces (one a new sunroom with full wood paneling and another surrounding a gas fireplace), a large deck, yard, and newly installed outdoor shower with full nature views. There are 3 private bedrooms with full or queen beds and 1 pull-out couch in the sunroom. You'll also have all the comforts of home with flat screen TV, wifi, Apple TV, bluetooth stereo, and new gas grill. As the last house on a dead end road, the property is secluded, but also convenient to the Town of Roxbury, accessible via car or walking the rail trail right in front of the house.
Guest access:
Guests will have access to the full house, deck and property, including ~1 acre of lawn and ~3 acres of wooded land. Hike behind the house and make a day of walking or snowshoeing the snowmobile trails, or walk the rail trail to have breakfast in town or visit Kirkside Park (14 acre historic site and park).
Interaction with guests:
Only as needed. Our caretaker is available for any questions or needs you may have.
The neighborhood:
Located in the Town of Roxbury, with towns like Margaretville, Andes and Bovina nearby, as well as hiking, fishing, skiing, antiquing, kayaking, golfing and restaurants all a short walk or drive away.
Skiing:
Plattekill - 20 min
Belleayre - 35 min
Windham - 35 min
Hunter - 40 min
Shepard Hills golf course located in town (up the hill just behind the cottage), and more courses in the area.
Getting around:
You'll want a car to explore the area, but if you're meeting people, there are Trailways Bus Line stops in Margaretville and Grand Gorge, each about 15 minutes away, that offer service to and from the NYC area.
Other things to note:
Owners have a small dog that visits occasionally. The cottage is pet-friendly as long as you're pre approved and responsible. For those with young kids, there are child-proof locks on kitchen cabinets and a gate at the top of the stairs.

Location of house is private without being desolate, and property is idyllic Catskills. Everything is exactly as described in listing.

We hope that our input encourages the owner to look for a new cleaning crew. The property is greatly placed with lots of land where you feel like you are on your own. The unit unfortunately was not cleaned and that is a primary request of any place you stay.
